Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their Tibia and fibia? I broke mine two years ago and am still having problems. I have a plate and eleven screws. I am thinking of having them taken out in the hopes that it will releive some of the discomfort. Any information from someone who has done this would be great.
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
Avatar n tn That's a pretty broad post. Can you afford a personal trainer at a gym? That way you can tell them what you want and they can get you started. You'll only get "huge" legs if you do tons of leg resistance exercises (and if you have the genetic ability to get them without taking steroids, which is unlikely unless you have large legs to begin with).
Avatar f tn Hello, I broke my fibula/Tibia in Feb 2007. I had two surgeries and an external fixator was put in while I recovered. They put rods and screws in as well. I went through physical therapy, but to be honest didn't do my exercises at home like I should have been doing. Since that time, I have been exercising again after the doctor gave me the ok.
Avatar f tn The last is the Single-Leg Deadlift, Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart and your hands resting in front of your thighs. Lift your left leg and support your body weight on your right leg. Lower your upper body by bending over while supporting your body on your right leg. Continue bending forward on one leg until you can touch the ground with your fingertips. Your right leg should swing behind your body to act as a counterbalance to your torso bending forward.
6896476 tn?1386858324 hi, what exercises can you recommend for me to lose my fat around my thighs without gaining muscles on it and achieving a thigh gap? my thighs is around 22-24 inches each leg.
Avatar f tn Once you are able to walk short distances unassisted, it is important to regain the strength in your leg muscles with resistance exercises. You can do the early rehab exercises with light ankle weights or resistance bands, and you can ride a stationary bike at varying degrees of resistance to strengthen your muscles and work on your range of motion at the same time. Consider taking yoga or tai chi classes.
Avatar f tn @parvosufferer Yes those are the common symptoms of brain concussion make sure you post in the neurology forum as well The fact that you can't do a proprioceptive sensory exercise means that your internal system of the brain got affected sometimes can be shock sometimes can be severe that's why is really important to check with your doctor regarding internal bleeding and so on.
Avatar m tn First of all start eating healthy and less, around 1700 calories daily (for more info contact a nutritionist) please don't consume less than 1500/day. You could try jogging but if that's too intense for your knee a-45-minutes walk 4-5 times a week is proven to promote weight loss. Also you can look for exercises like crunches, curls and leg raises that won't make your knee worse. You can also follow my blog on tumblr for more inspiration and tips :) feel free to ask anything.
Avatar m tn I have realised how much this is all connected to the broken leg and weak ankle, but I am now lost as to what to do. I would like to not accept this as how I shall be for the rest of my life, but I am starting to wonder. I was thinking that an Osteopath could be good by getting my hips, lower back, buttock region back into alignment? (And hey I have tried the other obvious solutions!
Avatar f tn t think it was necessary to do another MRI to see the exact state of the ligaments or even that I should do any particular exercises to assist in recovering movement. Was left feeling quite perplexed. In the meanwhile I'm still putting ice on it twice a day for 10 to 15 minutes and trying to elevate it when possible.

Avatar f tn Eventually all of those feelings are just the start of things becoming soft and ready for d-day. So your fine as long as your not bleeding bright red blood or your waters broken and having contractions at the same time your in the clear.... :/ it s.u.c.k.
Avatar f tn Do you have any links to physical therapy exercises that are related to this condition and the broken vertebrae? Currently he is swimming several times a week as a substitute but he can't bear to do much else. Is he jeopardizing his spinal health swimming laps with the fractured vertebrae? As to a back brace, is this something that is necessary to aid in his healing or is he alright maintaining his normal routine (which involves a lot of walking as means of transportation) without one?
Avatar m tn After six weeks, patients begin weight bearing and other exercises for another six weeks. Low impact exercises are started at 12 weeks with full exercise at 16 weeks. Return to sports Guidelines is rigorous and you must seek your orthopaedician’s clearance to be able to perform sports specific drills at top speed.
Avatar n tn He will most likely also be given exercises to do at home to rebuild the strength and mobility of his leg and ankle. I hope he has a speedy recovery!
