)I got the first one starting on my foot going all the way up my leg. My whole foot, and ankle is a little swollen but not terrible my husband says. The pain was TERRIBLE! I am doing all the proper cleaning instructions. I got the other one on my chest. That one is okay and it was nothing like the one on my foot and leg. I am a little nervous about my foot and leg though. I made sure my blood sugar was good before going. I kept feeling like I was going to faint with getting the one on my chest.

it wasnt that bad cus it didnt go through the skin and there was no displacement and did not effect my growth plates.

If the healing is perfect and if you do not have any complications then you have to look for a healing period between 4-6 months for full mobility. I would suggest you to follow up with your orthopedic surgeon and after 12 weeks you will have a clear picture. Take care!

Hi, How are you? The regular cast is only continued if your doctor feels that healing is not complete, and if he feels it complete then you are advised to use crutches. The usual period for healing is around 6-8 weeks, but lower leg fractures take a little more to recover. The initial one week period is also taken into account. Follow up is advised every two weeks to see whether alignment is proper or not. In case of misalignment found at any point of treatment surgery might be necessary.

I did not have surgery on mine, so your healing process could very well be quite different from mine but it's very possible that you will have problems at least for a long time, if not for life. The rod and screws could be adding to your pain/limp as they are a "foreign" object in your bone and just from the stress of them being put in during surgery.

Also poor circulation just adds to the problem of the wound healing. You can probably expect a longer wound healing time and as the dr said debridement if needed. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have a DVD of an American woman, Lisa O'Shea who developed a simple version. It's like a standing w/arm movements meditation, with visualization of healing energy. Not feet movement like tai chi, which could be bad if balance is impaired.

Please get him in sooner than a few days. You don't want that leg to start healing, if it's broken and hasn't been set. That could run into more money, if he needs to go into surgery and they need to rebreak it. Call your vet and ask if you can post date a check.

Less than a week after surgery I noticed that my hair growth on that total leg has gone from extremely light to very heavy. The other leg remains unchanged. I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement. I'm 21 old had a severe injury to my left leg tibia & fibula in motor bike accident got hit a lorry.. Broken Tibia bone came out making a hole in my skin, i had lost blood... Then i has surgery after 12 hrs, with a rod & 2 nails inserted only for Tibia, but they did nothing to broken fibula... Now after 11 months, I'm walking normally but still i cant run, jump & unable to climb stairs quickly... Please tell me, 1. when can i run & able climb stairs quickly? 2.

My Fracture was not healing . so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.

(I never had a cast either) That being said,5 months after the fact I had a bone graft done on my fibula as it was not healing. Keep in mind I was 41 @ the time,so I'm sure your daughter will do much better w/healing. I am so terribly sorry that an 8 year old has to deal with any injury especially this one.-Bless her heart- Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

I am not a health professional, but I do know that people with high blood sugars have problems with wounds healing-- Have you had yours checked?

Hi- I fell on ice while getting out of my car about 4 weeks ago and broke my sacrum. The E.R said, thankfully, that it was not displaced. I was perscribed muscle relaxers, pain killers, motrin 800, stool softeners, a dougnut and a cane. They told me 2 weeks of "bed rest" and 2 weeks of rest (walking a little but taking it easy) I am still in so much pain. I have seen my primary care doctor but she just tells me all this pain is "normal".

I've had my left ankle broken on sept 29, it was a fibula frature with a tibia dislocation, was on splint for a week, had surgery on oct 7th,plate + screws + a very long screw to place my tibia on the right place, splint for another week, then my orthopedist put me on aircast Air Stirrup Universe since then. He told me to start physical therapy a week after surgery, but I waited until 2 weeks. Now my foot hurts on an area that has nothing to do with the fracture.

s leg makes this crunching feeling when you touch/move it, the vet also said she felt that but said it was not broken bones. If not broken bones then what is it? And how long should I expect it to take to be better? I know with humans it can be around 6-8 wks....is it the same with animals?
