broken leg healing time

I know exactly why: time of year, stress from DH's broken leg (WHY are they babying him?!), not recovering as fast & well as I had hoped, and looking at a lonely & boring Christmas.

Yesterday i took a X-ray and found the same way it was before 7 weeks, Doctor told 50% healing was done and put me a new cast to wait 4 more weeks. Is this normal healing time for fibula fracture at the end ?

my question to anyone that knows is wat is the healing time for this injury? im going for my xray on 17/11/09 to c how the bone is healing and tghe hopefully i shud be able to weight bear.

s my story , i had a broken tibia and fibula as well i was trying tio help a female from getting beaten by his boyfriend , it was slippery oitside my right leg went forward and my left leg went backwards and my big ***( lol ) landed on top of my ankle and distored my ankle and broke my tibia and fibula , i went to the hospital where i stayed two nights then on monday i had to go see the bone doctor at the other hosiptal and told me that your fracture was a bad one .

and also should nt have the doctor have asked me to come in for check up x-rays just to make sure the bone is healing properly? i live in a small community was treated by a regular doctor a i think.Do u think ill need an aircast after i get regular cast off or is that just optional?

i broke my tib/fib 3 weeks ago and my consultant said im able to go back to work as my fib has healed and my tib is healing back together. ive been told that it will take another 12 weeks for the bones to be fully healed. my questtion is im still getting pain at the fracture site and im still walking with quite a heavey limp could anyone tell me how long i will have the limp and the odd nagging pain at the fracture site or will i have this for life?

Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.

but longer and longer I waited, and brought it up from time to time...she said we can see eachother soon enough..and it kept going..idk if it was another person by then but, I doubted it, since we talked everyday and my son was with her. (Hard to explain but trust me I highly doubt she was, it just didn't feel that way, or add up) I even asked her in the summer after my dad died, and she said she still feels for me like she did.

I brought this up to my doctor at a follow up today and he acted as if I was crazy and tried to say it was probably medicine related, but I have a hard time accepting that since this happened only to the leg the knee replacement was on and at the exact time of the knee replacement. Hello, On July 14th I broke my FIbia and my Medial Malleolus and received a plate and 7 pins. Since then I have gone to two follow ups with the orthopedic surgeon. Both times he said everything looked good. Right now I am in an air cast and am told to start putting graduall weight over the last few weeks until I see him on September 21st. The question I have and am worried about. When I saw him in August I received x-rays.

Please get him in sooner than a few days. You don't want that leg to start healing, if it's broken and hasn't been set. That could run into more money, if he needs to go into surgery and they need to rebreak it. Call your vet and ask if you can post date a check.

It seems to be quite normal for the fibula to be left alone to heal on its own.I had tib/fib fractures and while I had ORIF with IM nail placed in my tibia my fibula was left alone.(I never had a cast either) That being said,5 months after the fact I had a bone graft done on my fibula as it was not healing. Keep in mind I was 41 @ the time,so I'm sure your daughter will do much better w/healing. I am so terribly sorry that an 8 year old has to deal with any injury especially this one.

I'm 21 old had a severe injury to my left leg tibia & fibula in motor bike accident got hit a lorry.. Broken Tibia bone came out making a hole in my skin, i had lost blood... Then i has surgery after 12 hrs, with a rod & 2 nails inserted only for Tibia, but they did nothing to broken fibula... Now after 11 months, I'm walking normally but still i cant run, jump & unable to climb stairs quickly... Please tell me, 1. when can i run & able climb stairs quickly? 2.

So my dr is gone and they told me they would get back to me first thing in the morning about the ortho (half the time my dr is slow and the other half of the time my message never gets passed to him) We live in Hawaii and in this state Nothing is done quickly!! Hopefully they do get back to me or I will call and just start trying to find one that takes my insurance. I do have to have a referal though!

I got a tattoo on my left leg about 3 weeks ago and cared for it as instructed. After about a week the tattoo and area around it became really, really itchy and a small bump appeared. I continued to scratch and eventually the bump burst. The area around it became red and very sore. I started taking antibiotics and applying Neosporin to the scab. The area has gotten a little better but still has not completely healed and I would like information on how to get this healed and gone away.

My Fracture was not healing . so my docter did surgery one year later, he took the nail out of my leg and replaced it with a plate and and screws, during surgery he broke my fibula to get the plate in place. i dont no why he did it but my tibia feels alot better and now my fibula is broken, my question is has anyone ever had a corrective surgery on there tibia and had there fibula broken. And how long does it take for the fib to heal and am i screwed ? i dont know what to do.

The application of a cast means that immobilization of the limb is required till the time the cast is removed, to promote healing of the fracture which may take 4-6 weeks. Trying to move the limb unnecessarily may cause fracture displacement and improper healing. Casting does not heal the fracture immediately but just provides support and immobilization required for natural healing.
