Blood flow from heart to body

Common Questions and Answers about Blood flow from heart to body

heart

Avatar f tn Blood flow in the blood is called hemo dynamics, the heart pumps blood to the upper and lower part of our body, the arteries take blood to organs and the veins bring the blood back to the heart. So the same blood being pumped to your arm isn't the same circulatory blood that goes to the uterus. You would have to have a severe hemorrhage to lose blood supply to the babies. If the hair band was too tight you could cause tissue damage to the hand but not likely.
Avatar m tn What would you attribute it to? I don't think that it is from being stuck inside because I notice it before the storm comes (and it has been documented that animals do to). I agree that ADHD behavior doesn't start but it does get worse because of barometric change. This appears, as you say, to effect all or most kids, but with ADHD kids the change is more extreme. It's been my experience that ADHD behavior does stop or become significantly better due to fever.
Avatar m tn But does that blockage at the second occlusion decrease blood flow through that blockage or increase blood flow? To be a valid hypothesis it seems there would have to be is less blood flow through the second occlusion?! Hope this gives you some insight into the possible problems asociated with heart attack, stents, kidney disease, etc. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Avatar m tn Hi there- I had an ultrasound done on my thyroid because the left side of my neck has been sore for the past 3 months. The Doctor called me to advise the test came back with no lumps etc however there was increased blood flow going to my thyroid and didn't understand why? I am to repeat the ultrasound in 6 months and he is sending me for more thorough blood test for thyroid. Just wondering if anyone else has heard about this increased blood flow with no masses or tumors in the neck?
Avatar n tn indicates coronary artery blockage that impedes blood flow to the heart tissues. Usually the blockage is due to plaque buildup and causes a narrow passage of blood flow. Treatment can be medication that dilates the vessels for a better flow of blood/oxygen. If medication isn't adequate then a stent implant can be the therapy or if stents aren't an option then there is bypass surgery.
Avatar n tn when you remain idle for too long your blood becomes sticky and thick and makes your heart harder to pump more blood. by stretching your allowing more oxygen flow to go into those areas of the body that usually have minimal blood flow. I reccomend on youtube doing "yoga with Adrienne". she has great exercises that stretch out the chest, the heart, the back, the legs, your spine. the whole nine.
Avatar n tn This extra blood in addition to the normal pulmonary flow increases blood flow to the lungs and subsequently increases pulmonary venous return into the left atrium (LA) and ultimately into the LV. This increased LV volume results in LV dilatation and then hypertrophy. It increases the end-diastolic pressure and consequently LA pressure and then pulmonary venous pressure. The increased pulmonary blood flow raises pulmonary capillary pressure, which can increase pulmonary interstitial fluid.
Avatar n tn A hole in the heart is an abnormal opening of the wall (septum) that separates the upper chambers (atria) or the lower chambers (ventricles). The condition results in an abnormal blood flow with some blood going from chamber to chamber (called shunting) rather than the regular pattern of oxygenated blood going into system circulation from the left side and the right side blood to the lungs. Also, sometimes there is double shunting going from the right side to the left side.
Avatar m tn When the atria of the heart beat improperly (fibrillation) , blood doesn’t flow properly through your heart. This can cause blood to pool in your heart’s chambers, possibly resulting in blood clots. These blood clots are not necessary deadly, but they can be. They can travel through the body and cause problems. For example, a blood clot that blocks blood flow to your brain can cause a stroke, damage to brain cells, or permanent damage to your brain.
Avatar f tn A narrowed or stenotic valve requires the heart to pump harder. An overworked heart , which can strain the heart and reduce blood flow to the body be the underlying cause for cardiomyopathy (dilated or heart wall thickening). A regurgitant (incompetent, insufficient, or leaky) valve does not close completely, letting blood move backward through the valve. My condition and the left ventricle dilated and reduced the heart's ability to adequately pump enough blood into circulation.
976897 tn?1379167602 These byproducts leave the muscle cells and caus the capillaries within the muscle to expand or dilate. The increased blood flow delivers more oxygenated blood to the working muscle. **Adenosine triphosphate: An important carrier of energy in cells in the body and a compound that is important in the synthesis (the making) of RNA. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleotide (a building block of a nucleic acid such as RNA).
Avatar f tn Aortic valve sclerosis refers to thickening and calcification of the aortic valve without overt obstruction of flow of blood, although this may lead to aortic stenosis. Concentric left ventricular hypertrophy refers to increased relative wall thickness and mass of the left ventricle, the chamber of your heart which pumps blood out of the heart to the rest of the body other than the lungs.
Avatar m tn A cardiac stress test is a medical test performed to evaluate arterial blood flow to (and indirectly the amount of oxygen that will reach) the myocardium (heart muscle) during physical exercise, compared to blood flow while at rest. A 11 MET exercise is very good and it correlated to heart rate (120-age)...not blood pressure. Because you are a smoker I am surprised you can do 11 METs.
492329 tn?1290883385 The stethoscope hears sounds produced by the body. It is used primarily to listen to the lungs, heart, and that is what you have experienced. These sounds are produced when there are irregularities in the path of blood flow through the heart. The sounds reflect turbulence in normal blood flow. If a valve remains closed rather than opening completely, turbulence is created and a murmur is produced. Murmurs are not uncommon; many people have them and are unaffected.
Avatar f tn The Aorta is the biggest artery in the body and starts at the left side of the heart. This is where oxygen enriched blood is pumped to all areas of the body, including the coronary arteries. So, the Aorta starts at the heart, and in the chest, above the diaphram (used for expanding the lungs). It then travels a short distance upwards (ascending aorta) and curves over to face downwards, to become the descending aorta.
Avatar n tn Elevated pressure is normal since blood flow is moving. Dropping pressure with pumping heart may not be normal since blood flow might not be good. However I suspect if flow was a problem it would be 100% constant. If it comes and goes then that may be anxiety. When you get shortness of breath trying laying down to see if blood flow pressure change helps. Also when you feel that strange tingling thats probably too much oxygen flowing in the blood.
Avatar f tn Your esophagus, the tube that runs from your throat to your stomach, lies close to your heart. . Because the esophagus lies close to your heart, having the transducer there provides a clear picture of the aorta valve and blood flow through it. Sometimes a chest transducer does not get a clear image due to some body part obstruction or layers of fat, etc.
580983 tn?1219772222 it actually is normal to hear a heartbeat...i have had plenty of ultrasounds due to ovarian cysts...its because of the blood flow to the ovaries. Plenty of times the tech has told me " OK, your going to hear a heartbeat, it us checking the blood flow to your ovaries"...
Avatar m tn Some people running will have very high blood pressure and a high heart rate. Some will have normal blood pressure and high heart rate. Some will have normal heart rate and lower blood pressure. Our bodies are not all the same and a lot of it has to do with fitness. If I do star jumps, it takes around 30 seconds for my heart to reach 100bpm. It takes my 15 year old sons 5 seconds. After 5 mins, my heart is at 140. My sons is at 100 after 15 mins.
Avatar f tn What does blood flow to breast mass mean. i have been looking on internet and all i see is stuff about breast cancer. The doctor does not think that is what it is even though he still wants it biopsied. what else could it be.
976897 tn?1379167602 What effect does this have on the rest of the body and blood flow, or risks involved with bleeding? Does it say? Which enzyme?
11294269 tn?1422402907 Ive heard that its bad to sleep on your back because it can slow blood flow to the uterus. Why is it recommended to sleep on your left side? I tend to toss and turn from side to side. Occasionally I sleep halfway on my side, halfway on my stomach. I am almost 12 weeks.
Avatar f tn monitoring blood pressure is a difficult thing when you are constantly on the move, thinking different things, having different emotions and even eating. Everything we do affects blood pressure and we can only work on averages. If blood pressure didn't keep changing, we couldn't function very well. The only way to get a fairly accurate blood pressure reading from your body is to relax for 30 mins and empty your mind of all emotional thoughts.
10299247 tn?1409208876 It's pretty normal. I had palpitations more as my pregnancy went along. During pregnancy your blood volume can increase up to 50%! That's s lot more blood your heart has to pump through the body. If you weren't super fit before your heart may just need a bit more exercise to get it used to the extra work.
