Avatar f tn If you've had such a major medical issue, I wouldn't be so sure to just accept that these are anxiety attacks, and even if they are that they aren't physiologically based. When a doctor tells you you're just having anxiety attacks, that's often a way of saying, I don't know what's going on and and I don't want to find out. Blood clots indicate severe circulation problems, which can also make someone feel faint and like they're going to pass out and die.
Avatar f tn Aspirin has been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack and reduce the short-term risk of death among people suffering from heart attacks. There is no evidence that an aspirin is contra-indicated for hypertensive individuals having a heart attack.
Avatar f tn s (if you already have one) if you are over 35, b/c, as the others said, it increases your risk of heart attack and blood clots.
Avatar m tn Aspirin is good to prevent strokes and heart attacks. My friend, only 46, had a severe stroke and is in the hospital going through therapy. That prompted me to take the aspirin.
Avatar n tn The anti-platelet mechanism of an aspirin is sufficient to prevent blood clotting, and blood clots present a problem with stent implants so there usually is lifetime therapy. Generally, aspirin is part of the regimen for heart patients. Aspirin can reduce the risk of death if taken as directed by a doctor as soon as a heart attack is suspected.
Avatar n tn I would start by saying that I have severe anxiety which I found xanax completely cured and that was after taking anti-depressants which I didn't believe I needed to begin w/and they made me suicidal and homocidal and I've never been either. I'm a very very happy person but I have bad panick attacks and social anxiety that is often prompted by thinking I'm dying.
Avatar m tn Also, inflammation may promote the growth of plaques and trigger blood clots – the biggest cause of strokes and heart attacks. When a blood clot blocks an artery to your heart, you have a heart attack. If the blood clots block an artery to the brain, you have a stroke.
11587059 tn?1427628263 Always better to play it safe and see what they say. He or she can better determine the cause. Blood clots can be very serious. I have a clotting disorder and am on daily lovenox shots throughout my pregnancy as a preventive measure.
Avatar n tn It will only block the flow of urine, causing the bladder to distend and become very full and painful. Blood clots occur in the vascular system for a number of reasons. Vessel wall irritation caused by IV's, narrowing of vessels from plaque buildup, hardening of the arteries, high blood sugar that causes sticky glycoproteins to form. Anything that slows blood flow can promote platelets in the blood to stick to the narrow vessel. After a while the platelets form a clot.
Avatar m tn What happened when they went to operate after they put him under to operate they saned his heart and a blood clot was forming in his heart so they stopped the operation 10 weeks later and a pace makers he is starting to eat and work do you have any idea if he can still live This discussion is related to Blood clot in heart.
1395422 tn?1308016251 More serious symptoms include infection or death of leg muscle tissue, pulmonary embolism, heart attack and even stroke which are caused by movement of blood clot from calf to elsewhere in the body. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn About a year later my a-fib episodes became more frequent and my heart rate became much higher over 200 during the attacks. My EP told me that I needed to come off the aspirin and start on Coumadin because of the higher heart rate. I know several people who are in permanent a-fib who are on aspirin because their heart rate isn't over 100 and they have no other heart related problems. So I think it all depends on how fast your heart rate is when in a-fib and what your CHADS score is.
Avatar n tn m just curious - Why are you on aspirin instead of Coumadin (Warfarine)? Does you Dr thinks that you are at risk for blood clots? (blood clots can be a danger with AFib) Hoping you find this useful.
Avatar m tn she should of had blood test this will show enzymes in the blood if a heart attack has happened and an ecg will measure electricity in the heart, when u say thickened blood peices wound do you mean blood clots? the blood thinners get rid of the clots, and the tissue would have died because its been starved of oxygen so the heart pumps faster and faster, she sounds lucky to be here to be honest. What are they going to do about her heart?
Avatar f tn These clots dislodge and can travel to the heart, neck and/or lungs causing a blockage (heart attack, stroke and/or respiratory arrest. Often these clots dissolve or are undiagnosed and the patient's medical diagnosis remains a mystery. A genetic test can determine if this is the cause of your brother's problems, and if it is treatment is available.
Avatar f tn Ended up in the Hospital for a week, with the clots, etc.. I was tested for blood clotting disorders and have been on blood thinners since Sept. Hospital reading first came back positive for Lupus Anticoagulant, then said it was a false positive. Protein C & S still testing low, but I do not know what that means exactly. Any reason one would just develope unexplained blood clots? Any relation of blood clots to the Graves?
Avatar f tn I sometimes worry about death and my heart I am a 35 year old women in in 2012 I was diagnosed with the disease my EF was 11-15 percent I was put on oxygen ad could not breath that good and also given a lot of meds I even had blood clots in my lungs in 2013 I had s defibilstor put in months after that I started feeling better over the years I got better my EF is now between 35-40 which I don't know if that's good but I always wanted to talk to someone who has CHF now I'm am experienc
Avatar f tn Both times I was at the ER my bp was sky high so both times I was hooked to an EKG and a heart monitor for a least 2 hrs and had chest X-rays and the first time even had cardic blood work done .... EVERYTHING WAS FINE!!! I am sure the tests missed something and there is something wrong with my heart and I will have a heart attack. Having a heart attack is on my mind pretty much most of the day. The ER docs both said it's just my anxiety. I'm like "just" my anixety ....
Avatar n tn A new computer software developed by researchers at the University at Buffalo that simulates clot dissolution using the same techniques employed to analyze chemical reactors will provide information for physicians to know precisely how blood clots, and then tailor drug therapies and reduce patients risks The computer software is a program that provides a 'snapshot' of a blood clot undergoing dissolution, By simulating reaction and transport processes at and near the clot, the softwar
398059 tn?1447945633 BC - the aspirin is for thinning the blood to avoid clots that can cause heart attacks. 81mg ones are the recommended daily dose for those of us who are of that special age or have a previous cardiac event. I fall into both of those categories. I'm glad someone else watched the ECTRIMS news - I'm waiting for the posters and presentations to be put online for the rest of the story.
Avatar n tn Older people have a problem with blood clots because they CAUSE heart attacks and strokes. If your Mom has carotid stenosis (in her neck), she may need this to prevent a stroke. If she has atrial fibrillation she definitely needs this to thin the blood that has a potential to pool during the fibrillation. Coumadin is pretty safe UNLESS your Mom is a fall risk. Falling can cause severe bleeding anywhere in the body, including the brain. This is what makes it dangerous.
Avatar m tn I have both DES and drug eluting stents and have had heart attacks, and took Plavix for several years. About a year ago I went off Plavix and have not experienced a heart attack or restinosis. I remain on 81mg aspirin. While still taking Plavix, I had the misfortune of developing a bowel obstruction which required emergency surgery. The fact that I was was taking Plavix was a major concern, and the surgery took place expecting bleeding problems.
Avatar f tn ve had 7 ekgs and chest X rays and a lot of blood work looking for blood clots and hearts attacks and etc everything came back fine. My legs and feet have been swelling lately and I randomly get out of breath and I've had a couple nose bleeds. I'm terrified of congestive heart failure. Heart disease doesn't run in my family.
Avatar m tn I have had 2 heart attacks (age 46 and 48) from clots in a tiny artery, branch of a branch of LAD and ever since have issues breathing when it's humid outside. I am working for 1 month in a carpenter shop with no A/C, only fans and it has been as high as 99. I think I've gotten heat exhaustion twice now, missed 2 days of work. This is not my career, only a 1 month learning experience and I'm considering going to half days, early mornings only.
Avatar m tn I am 51 years old my brother had a massive heart attack at 34 and died both my mother and father had several heart attacks that eventually took their lives. I have an Older brother who had 2 heart attacks and 3 strokes he is in poor health.
Avatar n tn I know I am hanging on by a thread because I need surgery very soon with this massive hernia and Gall Bladder, and have shortness of breath and I keep putting it off because I would have to be taking off of Plavix and Asprin for a few days, and if I have surgery, that is MORE blood clots.
Avatar f tn It is medically significant when the shunt is from the right chamber to the left chamber because blood has not been to the lungs to be oxygenated and that contaminated blood goes into circulation and can cause hypoxia (heart cells less than normal oxygen) that will eventually cause a serious heart condition problem and there is a risk of stroke due to blood clots.
