Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol zero tolerance

Avatar n tn What is a typical fatal blood alcohol content for non-alcoholics versus alcoholics?
1305767 tn?1361192676 Your question is why does your tolerance seem to be like at zero for alcohol? Above you said you drank heavily for 2-1/2 yrs but quit drinking for the last two yrs, right? Then in another post, I think you said your desire for alcohol went away when you started taking vicodin. Then you shared that you have been thru w/drawals and were now off the vicodins. So, guess I'm not understanding why you are returning to drinking alcohol again now?
Avatar m tn Its not that your alcohol tolerance is going down, your body is trying to tell you to NOT continue to drown it w/poison!If you continue to drink in this fashion, your body will let you know it doesn't like it!If you try to control your drinking and this continues to happen, then THIS should TELL you perhaps you should NOT put alcohol in your body!
Avatar n tn hi. i'm assuming you are questioning if the test will give a positive result for alcohol. it depends how much alcohol or alcohol saturated substances were consumed. in my nonprofessional opinion, i'd say no as the threshold used in most drug screens is too high to register a positive without intentional consumption of alcoholic beverages. it also depends if the test criteria is based on a zero tolerance protocol (any consumption vs. intoxicating consumption).
Avatar n tn At the times of all the breathalysers I showed no physical signs of being drunk, according police officers, and I felt sober or maybe slightly buzzed. Why am I still alive? Why would my alcohol tolerance be so much higher than the average person? Physically what am I doing to myself? Every website says I should technically be dead so I'm not getting any answers. (I feel inclined to tell I was only driving the once when I've had all these breathalyzers done. I don't drive drunk).
Avatar n tn the past month i have been drinking almost daily and i think i have a high tolerance of alcohol, surprising for someone that just begun. there were 3 incidents that brought me to this conclusion - once at a party i downed 2 beers and about 5 shots of whiskey - another time i downed 5 shots of whiskey (neat), 2 cans of stout and some random beers - most recently i had glasses of wine, 2 stouts, 2 beers and about 15 shots of whiskey (neat or as bourbon).
712042 tn?1254569209 Well, it is a real phenomenon which is caused by the body's metabolism of NTG and nitric oxide. What happens after prolonged exposure to nitgolycerin, the nitric oxide which is what nitroglycerin acts through gets to a certain degree depleted. This has been proven by measuring exhaled nitric oxide levels in the air that humans breathe out. At that point, the effect of NTG is attenuated.
Avatar n tn I actually have a good alcohol tolerance and dont even come to get dizzy or impaired, but many people keep telling me this behaviour will develop serious long-term problems.
Avatar m tn YES!that is a horrendous amount of alcohol which means one has a VERY HIGH TOLERANCE to alcohol and that .BAC was much higher 10 hours prior and dropped to the level you note!
Avatar n tn If someone has a blood alcohol level of 4.5%, does this mean that they are intoxicated?
Avatar m tn The American public has zero tolerance -- BELOW zero tolerance -- for blood-borne HIV infection. Therefore, all blood donation centers use tests that detect any and all HIV infections. For example, they started testing for HIV type II before that virus was even known to have appeared in this country. All other standard labs use the same tests that blood banks do. So you can rely 100% on your negative test, regardless of where and by whom you might have been exposed.
Avatar n tn As you may guess truck driving has a zero tolerance for any type of medication especially if it is not your own prescription!
Avatar f tn The nurse who was drawing blood was a bit of a nimrod. Before drawing blood he opened the alcohol wipe and put the packet on the table and the alcohol wipe, while being partially still in the packet, made contact with the table. He then used the wipe to wipe my arm, then wiped the arm wit a cotton ball. He then drew the blood.
Avatar f tn Im not an expert in the medical field but i would recommend using some sort of gauze wrap after using hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol (depending on pain tolerance). Keep it elevate above chest level when possible, and when you walk try to keep the toe elevated if possible. Well best of luck to yah Sincerely Mike.
Avatar m tn I noticed as soon as she began oral that she has a tounge piercing and there was blood around the area of the piercing. I quickly stopped her from the oral. I have read other post that say no risk with oral but did not know with the blood around the piercing if this changed anything. I apprecaite your response.
1289966 tn?1326101570 I believe that alcohol tolerance is a very individual thing. Even with HCV some people could tolerate 10 beers a day for years straight without any liver damage while others can't tolerate one beer a week. The question arises though, do you want to find out you fit into the latter category because you risked it and ended up with end stage cirrhosis? I don't think I would. It's better to be safe.

Avatar m tn I tried the generic brand of xanax (alprazelam) a few years ago and it had absolutely zero effect. Maybe I just didn't take enough but the prescription is over 5 years old now and I would be afraid to experiment. Is valium a better options?
Avatar m tn im 21 years old and have been a heavy drinker since i was twelve. my mother is a recovering alcohlic and her parents are both dead because of it. i didnt think i would end up as bad as any of them as i can drink rather alot without getting stupid or drunk. untill last night after around 2 bottles of wine' and not being drunk but feeling sick..i threw up my dinner and there was blood in the loo. with what looksed like little chunks...this scared me sooo much and im scared to drink now..
Avatar m tn Tolerance seems to be my biggest enemy. Once they find a dose that works for me then a month goes by and now medicine stops working so well. Every month to month and half my body gets use to the dose and pain breaks through and stays constant. Here lies the problem now I must convince my dr. to try and dose me far enough a head of tolerance to actually work. Most of the time the dose change falls short because my tolerance is way extreme and this is something that does not have a dosing chart.
Avatar m tn In general to the Forum, my blood sugar and blood pressure were creeping up on me. At first I thought it was old age "creeping up" but I realized it was old habits. Primarily too much alcohol and fancy cakes. I quit both. After many years of self abuse, I finally recognized that alcohol especially had become toxic to my general health. I wasn't an alcoholic but rather someone with a very high tolerance to drinking.
Avatar f tn Stupidly, I had several drinks and drove my car. I was pulled over and my blood alcohol was almost 2! I only had 2 glasses of wine! Could Graves disease have affected my alcohol level?
Avatar n tn While she was in the top position her period started. By time we notice my testicals were covered with her blood. I washed the area with soap and water and alcohol (not fun). To top things off, the following morning I had a friction (like a rug) burn on my testicals for her stubble. What are my risks of HIV exposure? This discussion is related to Hiv and burns .
Avatar f tn It definitely isn't just America that has an issue with drinking during pregnancy. I live in Britain and the Dr's and midwives here have a zero tolerance policy on alcohol. There haven't been enough studies to prove if there is a safe amount of alcohol or what that is. As long as you can live with the decision to drink then it's completely upto you. I personally couldn't deal with the guilt and what ifs.
Avatar f tn BAC would be in hours spent drinking, body weight and number of drinks consumed in a certain timeframe.Your blood alcohol level would've been @ .32!that is triple the legal limit for intoxication!did u drive urself home?
