Avatar f tn Pump and dump is not gonna help and the teat strips are a waste of money. Alcohol metabolizes through your breast milk at the same rate that it metabolizes in your blood. Meaning if you have one drink, regardless of how much you pump and dump it'll still take about an hour for your body to fully metabolize the alcohol. With that being said the concentration of alcohol in your breast milk also reflects that of your blood.

5955551 tn?1377316619 I basically agree with HesAPooka, but I'll give a little more detail. The usual recommendation -- for people who are in good health and who have no heart problems -- is to limit alcohol intake to one drink per day for females and two drinks per day for males. Males are expected to be able to handle more alcohol than females, because their livers usually produce higher amounts of alcohol dehydrogenase, which is the enzyme that detoxifies alcohol.

Or is the liver simply distributed evenly over a 24 hour period making the time you take it with alcohol irrelevant. Does drinking 1.5 - 2.0 oz of scotch or bourbon within an hour or two of taking 20 mg of Lipitor create an elevated risk of Liver or Kidney dysfunction?
