Avatar m tn My brother died on May 2nd of this year (2010). I was diagnosed with PVC's 2 months later. Is it normal for PVC's to take your breath away? Sometims I feel as though my breath is shortened. I have become completely concious of my heart and breathing and feel like it almost made it worse. I have also been prescribed metoprolol, which seems to help but makes me super tired so i take it at night. So I'm completely in the dark about this, except for what i have stated.
Avatar n tn Hi alcohol can cause low blood sugar levels for some due to its effect on the liver. But even more it can cause those person with diabetes to pay less attention to their health and blood sugars. This does not mean you can never drink alcohol, But it should be taken in moderation only. When you do have a first drink (remember moderation) do it in the company of a trusted friend so you can safely see the effect it has on you.

However, she continues to drink to excess (for a healthy person), and seems to think that this is not affecting her, because she feels okay. Can you tell me what the likely outcome will be if she continues on this path, and what happens to the heart everytime she has a drinking session, could she have a sudden heart attack??

Avatar m tn Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic disorder that causes a chaotic growth of heart muscle cells within the ventricles. The disordered, thickened (or hypertrophic) heart muscle can lead to problems pumping sufficient blood to the body’s organs (systole malfunction),... but your diagnosis is a diastole dysfunction and that refers to the fact that thickened ventricles have become stiff, making it more difficult for the ventricles to fill with blood due to a crowding out effect.
481269 tn?1208280771 I have taken Phentermine several times in the past and I was told by my DR. to AVOID drinking alcohol while taking phentermine. Phentermine is a stimulant that is similar to an amphetamine. It is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. It worked great for me loosing weight. But, I do have 2 friends that mixed alcohol and phentermine and it was NOT a pretty site. It can increase some of the side effects of phentermine.
Avatar f tn First, an acute dose of alcohol (a single drink or several drinks over several hours) may inhibit a drug's metabolism by competing with the drug for the same set of metabolizing enzymes.
