16324710 tn?1447172792 Why do you have to be off the B-12 for 2 weeks? Is there a cause for your deficiency, other than diet? Many who are on a vegetarian or vegan diet are deficient in vitamin B-12, since it only comes from animal sources, such as meat, dairy, eggs, etc. Since your level was so low (89), 3 months on supplements might not have been long enough to get it up high enough to sustain you for any length of time, so, yes, it's possible that symptoms could come back in 4 days...
Avatar f tn For polyneuropathy, these MIGHT help Alpha lipoic acid, B-vitamins, B12-methylcobalim, acetyl-l-carnitine ALONG WITH STOPPING Vegan diet today! Start eating healthy-FISH,meat,cottage cheese, eggs, cheese, yogurt,Nuts, peanut butter, black or red beans.....You get B-vitamins and protein from these foods. From Vegan food you get Many Neurological Problems because you GET NO NUTRITION FROM IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have Neuropathy but ARE NOT VEGAN, then like Trudie says you have Celiac disease.
Avatar f tn I do know that one of the b vitamins are only found in meat but probably part of your prenatals. Just double check with your ob.
Avatar f tn If your going for the vegan all natural thing try rainbow light. They're vegan, gluten free, sugar free, no additives etc. Non-constipating iron etc etc they don't really smell at all and its one a day, sometimes i cut them in half and do twice a day.
Avatar f tn Yes it is low. Are you vegan? If so you may need a shot of B 12. It may be an anemia also. Did you have a complete blood count or iron panel done? If you did send me the results. If not you need to get one done.
Avatar f tn Try taking them before bed to reduce any stomach issues if you are sensitive. The prenatals are important since they have vitamins and dosages specifically for pregnancy. And the dha / fish oil is important for brain development.
Avatar f tn I have 10 vitamins I have to take and can only keep some of them down. I get my morning sickness at night and I do take the last of my vitamins at night. Its just hard because my prentals smell so disgusting. I take these raw vegan ones and have to take four of them... they smell so bad that I have to pour them out and let them air out for at least 15 minutes because they smell so bad. My husband thinks I'm psyching myself out but I'm not.... its the smell!
Avatar f tn Hey ladies!!! Any suggestions on what brand of prenatal vitamins offer the most iron. I'm anemic and need the extra iron!
1185546 tn?1264310043 Hi, I have been vegan for a year now, and I have been getting really dizzy lately. It happens multiple times a day, usually when I am hungry, but sometimes doesn't help if I eat. I was thinking it was low iron, could this be? It has been getting progressively worse with each passing day. I bought a good iron supplement today, and took one, but I am still dizzy. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Hi all! I'm 11 weeks and I've tried 3 different kinds of prenatal vitamins, but they all make me sick. The first ones I tried were vegan ones, but the taste and size made it hard to swallow. I tried gummies, hoping it'd be easier to keep them down, but they were still making me sick. I asked my doctor and she told me it could be the fish oil in them. I went back to vegetarian ones in liquid form, but the taste makes it hard to keep down.
Avatar f tn I take some that my sister suggested for nausea cuz they help with the digestive system to help break down foods. I found them at target and had a pharmacy tech help me make sure they had everything I needed in th He was the knowledgeable and I bought them. In the next week and a half, my nausea was almost gone completely and after that I never had it again. They're called Rainbow Light "prenatal one" and they're actually a food based, vegan and gluten free prenatal pill.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering what people's suggestions are for organic prenatal vitamins. Where do you suggest getting them for the cheapest price?
Avatar f tn I cant take prenatal vitamins either. I take two chewable children vitamins and a folic acid. Good luck momma. Fish oil is really good for brain development so try and eat some tuna salmon or cod.
973741 tn?1342342773 vegan diet is not necessary for everyone. It also take knowledge and supplementation (B vitamins) to do it in a healthy way. Need to pay attention to getting adequate protein. Alternative is simply lower carb eating.
Avatar f tn I had a vitamin b-12 deficiency as a child and had to take it as a liquid daily,I had lost clumps of hair. Today I went to the doctor and she told me I looked like I had a b-12 deficiency. When I asked her what she meant she said she noticed places on my face that were dry and red around the edges of my mouth. She told me to get a bottle of 1,000 mcg and take it every day for a couple of months and see if it goes away. I went to walmart and all they had was the 2500 or 5000 sublingual.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone diagnosed with B6 Toxicity has tried supplementing with the other B vitamins. I have discovered I have a high B6 level and feel like I should probably stop supplementing with B6, but I feel like some of the other B vitamins may be beneficial for me. If anyone had any experience with this, I would appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks!
Avatar f tn As long as I have done my research and take my vitamins, they should just leave me alone. So if there are any pther vegan moms, what do you crave and how do you handle rude people?
20853006 tn?1547666489 I am a pregnant vegan, and I constantly have meat cravings. I have been a vegan for three years, so I do not understand why I keep thinking about meat. Can anyone tell me why I am having these strong cravings?
Avatar f tn i am also vegan, and there are ways to raise a healthy vegan child. first and most important, BREAST FEED. breast milk is made to provide infants with all the nutrition they need. if you are unable to produce enough breast milk, there is soy infant formula available (not regular soy milk, that does not provide all the nutrients the infant needs). as an infant/toddler moving on from breast milk or formula, the first foods to be introduced are rice cereals, then vegetables and fruits.
9990306 tn?1407113138 ve been a vegan for a year now (I was a vegetarian for eight years before coming vegan). I am going to be a vegan for the rest of my life. Anyway, I got a little off topic. I appreciate your answer so much! Thank you, it really means a lot!
Avatar n tn BAD nuts- high in carbs - BAD fruits - high in carbs - BAD legumes - high in carbs - BAD grains -BAD alcohol- BAD 2 stalks of celery - 3 g carbs- GOOD 1 cup of cocked spinach, drained - 7 g carbs GOOD white meat- low carbs - GOOD fish- low carbs - GOOD Why do you want to go vegan now? Can you go vegan after say, 6 months, after you, hopefully, will be taking off metformin? Even after you are off metformin you still have to watch for carbs like everybody else.
Avatar f tn I know there are some good vegan ones out there, but check with your doctor to make sure there isn't something in them you need to avoid. I'm guessing that you are looking to supplement your protein, to be sure you are getting enough for you and baby. I'm thinking there is a brand called something like vega (I can't remember the name-its on the tip of my tongue) Its good for vegans.
Avatar m tn re vegan, you should also keep an eye on your B-12. B-12 only comes from animal sources.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies I'm six weeks pregnant and been a vegan for the past five years...
Avatar f tn My period has been very light, and the color of the blood is brownish. I know brown usually means older blood from before and everything already; but for the past almost 6 months, it just gets worse and worse! Like, it becomes more brown and less blood every period, or so it seems. I'm just a bit concerned as well. I think my diet has something to do it with possibly, I am vegan (for over a year now), and a rather unhealthy vegan. I barely eat at all, maybe a bowl of pasta a day.
Avatar f tn Has anyone els taken vitamin b 12 for a better appetite? I thought I took it 7 years ago with my first pregnancy and it helped a lot. I don't have much of an appetite these days.
Avatar f tn vegan D3 (2500 IUs); CoQ10 (100 mg); Red Yeast Rice (1200 mg, which also has 210 mg of milk thistle and 60 mg of CoQ10); Biotin (10,000 mcg's); and an eye vitamin with bilberry, ginkgo, lutein, and selenium. I was taking a multiple also vegan capsules, but I ran out. I showed it to a pharmacist at Walgreens and she recommended benedryl. Since I didn't want to get drowsy, I chose the topical cream.
Avatar f tn If you are a vegan, you might not be getting the vitamins you need. I agree with Jemma 116 - you need to have your B vitamin levels checked by a doctor and lab. Beri Beri is what a lack of vitamin B used to be called. It was more common in people who ate mostly white potatoes or white rice.
12426295 tn?1426875995 Just to know wich prenatal vitamins are you taking, I take already for 3 weeks the similac ones but feel like those are making me nauseous and want to change to another. Wich ones are you taking?
