Avatar f tn Just diagnosed with a 43% ejection fraction and my doctor prescribed Avapro. Is this the proper treatment?? He gave me samples of 150 mg tablets and said I could cut them in half and just take a half a pill once a day. What do you think about that?
1090984 tn?1463769850 I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.

Avatar n tn I have previously been diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve, which has created the secondary issue of an Enlarged Ascending Aortic Artery (or Aortic Aneurism). Fourteen months ago the aneurism was measured at 5.2cm, when I was prescribed to go onto blood pressure medication and lipids medications to help reduce the pressure in the artery. Three months ago, I had further scans (echocardiograph) to be told that the aneurism had shrunk back to 4.8cm.
Avatar n tn During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S. if you think of another drug/combination may be more effective trying, it would be a great help).
Avatar f tn I also do poorly with any diuretic as my potassium gets very low.
Avatar m tn This might be more suited to another forum but the others were closed to comments. Anyways, I'm a 50 year old male that's been having some issues with altitude illness. Last year I had a bout with hypertension as well. This may have resulted from residing at high altitude I'm not sure, but my work requires me to spend time at altitude. Since I will be returning again, I would like to make acclimatization as painless as possible.
Avatar n tn This happened to me too! I stopped the diuretic and put on 15lbs. in few days of water. I never had this much water me when I was put on diuretics. It has been weeks and the water is not coming off no matter what I do. Did you loose your rebound edema and if so, how long? How much did you put on and loose? This is scary!

Avatar f tn I do, when I skipped my diuretic pill. I have gained up to 3 pounds the next day. If you are on a diuretic pill don't skip it. If you aren't on a diuretic pill you should talk to your doctor. You need a prescription from your doctor for a diuretic pill.
Avatar m tn Hx: Hubby 47 has had HBP for 1 year? systolic(136-150) dyastoic(104 118). Heart rate high 90's or 100 - 110. Took Avapro o/d x 1 month July/08. Stress test after second appt. was okay. Avatar n tn yes, whenever you have reasonable cause to think that a medication is causing some problem, you should tell the doctor. But in this case, he might not think there is a connection. Still, you never know... in the meantime, if it were me on Lasix I'd be busy replacing the minerals that the loop diuretic is eliminating through urine: especially potassium and magnesium.... and copper. Maybe they have something to do with it. You can also cut way back on salt consumption and so need less Lasix.
369861 tn?1306275686 html Natural diuretic More and more people are resorting to natural foods and herbs that exhibit diuretic properties instead of diuretic pills. Moderation is the watchword even in the case of natural diuretics. Natural diuretics can aid in removal of excess fluids from the body and aid in treating of sciatica, kidney stone, lymphatic swelling, PMS, gonorrhea, liver disorders and high blood pressure. Green tea is a natural diuretic food that has been in use for centuries in China.
Avatar f tn Dermatologist treated for contact dermatitis Fluticasone Propionate cream with little result. Opthamologist treated for blepharitis with an antibiotic cream and eyelid wash, again no relief. I tried using Xalatan in AM rather than at nite, no change. Tried just Trusopt AM and early PM, no change. I have changed detergents, eliminated all makeups, started using Cetaphyl for face wash. Any clues to what I should do next?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with a health issue that I believe now to be thyroid but getting no where with it. A few months ago I began to lose energy and drive. I've always been very high energy with little health issues. So from the decreasing energy came no drive, then this extremely annoying anxiety which is at some times debilitating.
Avatar n tn 129/104 with a pulse of 90; 137/102 with a pulse of 102. I have a couple of questions. 1) is it a danger when the systolic minus the diastolic are less than 40 in difference? 2) I did not get to see my physician but did see the PA...and I told her that there is a history of strokes (dad, sister) in my family. And told her that was a concern, is it? She did not seem to think so. My chest does not feel normal. Could that be due to the changes with the hypertension and the medications?
Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
1884134 tn?1321151602 Fruits and Vegetables Any fruit with a large amount of water in it is a good choice for a diuretic. Many fruits, such as cranberries and juniper berries, are also good system cleansers and infection fighters. Many of the green leafy vegetables, while having diuretic properties, also have antioxidant and cancer fighting properties as well.
Avatar n tn I had been taking 150 mg of avapro for 10 years for high blood pressure. I recently lost 25 pounds and was able to maintain my blood pressure on 75 mg. in fact with a home machine my blood pressure is consistently low. It never goes above 106/70 and most often is 90-97/70-75. Would it be safe to stop taking the medication to see if I can keep the pressure from getting high? Or would it be safer to cut the pill in half and if so, for how long?
Avatar f tn I had the swelling before I ever went on the diuretic. The diuretic simply took it away and then the swelling came back after I stopped taking the diuretic. Thanks for your time anyway.
Avatar f tn I am taking Innopran and a diuretic but it still seems to occur only during ovulation and my period. I do not have astma. I am wondering if it can be totally unrelated to cardiomyopathy and more related to hormones? I am being treated by a cardiologist and we are trying the diuretic to see if it helps but so far it doesn't seem to. I am only taking the diuretic around the times that I expect to wheeze. I also am having a stopped up nose. Could it be allergies?
