Avatar f tn Just diagnosed with a 43% ejection fraction and my doctor prescribed Avapro. Is this the proper treatment?? He gave me samples of 150 mg tablets and said I could cut them in half and just take a half a pill once a day. What do you think about that?
1090984 tn?1463769850 I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.
786158 tn?1236397775 I have a long family history of heart disease and have high blod pressure (taking avapro) and gerd(taking protonix) I have noticed a frequency in the pvc's since i started the avapro and protonix. Do i need to do any further testing? Do you think that these pvc's are increasing do to the meds? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. I am booked in for a second opinion with another cardiologist next week mainly to re-assure myself and my wife (and kids) that things are chugging along okay.
Avatar f tn Both my sisters remaining living sisters are on Beta Blockers. I have been on angiotensin II receptor antagonist (Avapro or Benicar) for past 12 years. I did poorly on Beta Blocker and ACE inhibitors with marked facial and ankle edema. I also do poorly with any diuretic as my potassium gets very low.
Avatar n tn This happened to me too! I stopped the diuretic and put on 15lbs. in few days of water. I never had this much water me when I was put on diuretics. It has been weeks and the water is not coming off no matter what I do. Did you loose your rebound edema and if so, how long? How much did you put on and loose? This is scary!
Avatar n tn Broke through Verapamil now on Atenolol and dose has been raised.. recently have high blood pressure and now want to add avapro to the regieme.... any answers? 45 year old woman with child 9 yrs old.
Avatar f tn I do, when I skipped my diuretic pill. I have gained up to 3 pounds the next day. If you are on a diuretic pill don't skip it. If you aren't on a diuretic pill you should talk to your doctor. You need a prescription from your doctor for a diuretic pill.
369861 tn?1306275686 html Natural diuretic More and more people are resorting to natural foods and herbs that exhibit diuretic properties instead of diuretic pills. Moderation is the watchword even in the case of natural diuretics. Natural diuretics can aid in removal of excess fluids from the body and aid in treating of sciatica, kidney stone, lymphatic swelling, PMS, gonorrhea, liver disorders and high blood pressure. Green tea is a natural diuretic food that has been in use for centuries in China.
Avatar m tn Hx: Hubby 47 has had HBP for 1 year? systolic(136-150) dyastoic(104 118). Heart rate high 90's or 100 - 110. Took Avapro o/d x 1 month July/08. Stress test after second appt. was okay. Cholesterol ok. BP still up. ie: dyastolic 108 - 118. Ht rate 100 - 120. Hubbies father has MI at age 51 died. Hubbies bro at 49 had a massage coronary and died. (2002). Family doc doesn't seem concerned. I think his heart rate is too high. His dyastolic pressure is still high.
Avatar n tn yes, whenever you have reasonable cause to think that a medication is causing some problem, you should tell the doctor. But in this case, he might not think there is a connection. Still, you never know... in the meantime, if it were me on Lasix I'd be busy replacing the minerals that the loop diuretic is eliminating through urine: especially potassium and magnesium.... and copper. Maybe they have something to do with it. You can also cut way back on salt consumption and so need less Lasix.
Avatar n tn I had been taking 150 mg of avapro for 10 years for high blood pressure. I recently lost 25 pounds and was able to maintain my blood pressure on 75 mg. in fact with a home machine my blood pressure is consistently low. It never goes above 106/70 and most often is 90-97/70-75. Would it be safe to stop taking the medication to see if I can keep the pressure from getting high? Or would it be safer to cut the pill in half and if so, for how long?
Avatar f tn Rash is mainly on left eye and one spot on cheek, small rash on right eye. I do sleep on left side. Other med is Avapro for HBP and I have been on that for 2 years. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
1884134 tn?1321151602 Hi there. I'm familiar with water retention and autoimmune ramifications from my own experience. Two things work for me. There is a very effective diuretic called hydrochlorothiazide "water pill" it can be taken as needed. Surprisingly the more water you drink, the less you retain. I during a gallon or more a day. Second, there are naturally diuretic foods, radish, coffee, tea, etc. Here is a list.
Avatar f tn I had the swelling before I ever went on the diuretic. The diuretic simply took it away and then the swelling came back after I stopped taking the diuretic. Thanks for your time anyway.
Avatar m tn One day I ate some white rice, sugar suddenly fall to 8 mmol, then even a tiny piece of roti was dropping suddenly. Blood pressure increased, Took avapro, started eating more protein. But I did not get any medical support. Family doctor says, I do not know, hospital says go to family doctor. Family doctor did not give any specialist. However after 5 months, sugar settled between 8 mmol to 11 mmol without medicine. But I was eating less carb, mostly vegetable and rotein.
Avatar f tn I am taking Innopran and a diuretic but it still seems to occur only during ovulation and my period. I do not have astma. I am wondering if it can be totally unrelated to cardiomyopathy and more related to hormones? I am being treated by a cardiologist and we are trying the diuretic to see if it helps but so far it doesn't seem to. I am only taking the diuretic around the times that I expect to wheeze. I also am having a stopped up nose. Could it be allergies?
Avatar n tn During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S. if you think of another drug/combination may be more effective trying, it would be a great help).
Avatar f tn The swelling continued and in July my doctor prescribed a potassium sparing diuretic. At the same time I was told I was vitamin D deficient and have been on 4000iu vitamin D a day. A couple of weeks later I was still swelling. I had more bloodwork and mydoctor increased diuretic. The bloodwork came back that my kidney function was reduced and I was still low on vitamin D. My doctor said my levels were secondary to using the diuretic.
Avatar n tn The goal of the TIPS procedure is to reduce portal pressure in order to alleviate symptoms such as ascites and varices. This outcome is independent of diuretic usage. Normally, before someone has progressed to the point where a TIPS procedure is advised, they already have an ongoing ascites problem, and presumably would have been prescribed diuretics at some point. Has this person become diuretic-resistant by chance ?
Avatar f tn I take Aubagio and a diuretic, both of which can elevate Lipase. Moderate alcohol intake in the past. Zero alcohol in past two months. GI says with normal CT he is not that concerned. He suggests we retest in 3 months and continue to not take diuretic and Aubagio. Does this sound like a reasonable plan? Also, no vomiting, nausea or weight loss.
