Augmentin and tooth infections

Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin and tooth infections

augmentin

Avatar n tn It could also be due to tooth infections, impacted tooth or skin infections. The others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. If needed he may refer you to a dentist. In the meantime take OTC naproxen for relief from pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
Avatar f tn -Second myringotomy and adenoidectomy at 16 months. Very infected sinus cavities and ears. 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op. -Second myringotomy was due to complete 'plugging' of both tubes and continuing ear infections. -RAST test showed Level 2 Egg White Allergy (all egg products removed from diet). -1 day off post-antibiotic (11 days post-op): fever, effusion from ear, green sinus drainage.
Avatar n tn ve googled and see that some potential causes are cellulitis, hypothyroidism, tooth abscess, allergies, trauma, infections, inflammation, I think lupus?, and cancer. I have had some recent dental issues (infection, teeth pulled, roots left too long after a tooth fell out). Has anyone had this? So weird. I mean, I guess I should assume it's from the dental stuff, but I just had another panoramic xray, and the dentist said everything was fine.
Avatar m tn Back pain under the scapula is a new pain. All the infections and maladies affect the left side of my body, same side as the bad tooth. They don't think there is a connection. I'm certain of it, but what can I do, as they won't help. Right now I'm pretty sick with fatigue, ear and facial pain, mastoid pain and getting sicker. I'm 62, feeling terrible and frankly I'm Scared.
Avatar n tn My gums in the rest of my mouth have become very sore as well. Im on Augmentin, but wondering if I could get this tooth pulled?
Avatar f tn I was told that I had a very severe sinus infection and was place on Augmentin 875 mg twice daily for 10 days. I slowly began to feel better but I was still having the severe pain. Nothing helped. Again, I was told this was normal. I was also told that it could be TMJ causing all the pain and was instructed to do jaw exercises, limit talking and to only eat soft foods. Last week, 6 weeks after the dental bone graft, the protective membrane was removed.
Avatar m tn so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Let's give your doctor a break. It doesn't seem that he has done anything terribly wrong. And there is something called cognitive disonance - the theory the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. It "ain't necessarily so". You have, as I see it two (count em') problems. (1) A residual sinus infection (2) A residual dental infection Sinus infections are notoriously hard to clear up once established.
Avatar f tn Hello I have severe pain under my crown, my gums are swollen around the crown and are also sore, the most extreme pain I've ever had with a tooth. I had some augmentin on hand which I started taking today, can't see dentist until tues. Does anyone know what this is? Please help. Started yesterday, so today is my second day with this pain. Also have slight swelling in my cheek.
Avatar f tn it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
Avatar f tn Hi All, Iam having a terrible toothache the dentist said it is my wisdom tooth growing below my other tooth. She prescribed penicillin due to infections and I have a fever. I am scared to take it thinking that it may affect my babies. I am pregnant with twins. My first pregnancy ended in m/c at 5 1/2/ months. She said its ok for pregnant women to take.I am still taking my progestorones. Do any of you out there can give me any advise. It will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn If it was an upper tooth, you may have a sinus infection possibly and need antibiotic treatment.
Avatar f tn I had my tooth removed 2 days ago and have been sufferning (before extraction) with a cronich tooth infection that was only discovered by my new dentist as he drilled abit further into my tooth than the last dentist, he then told me that my tooth was dead, the infetion had killed it and he wanted to save the tooth.
Avatar f tn Previously a normal healthy person, 7 months ago I had "vital nerve exposure" during a routine filling and required my first root canal a few days later. The tooth remained sensitive/sore afterwards, especially to hot and cold. 3 months later, same tooth started hurting terribly, and felt 'hot.' Endodontist said it was infected. With the infection I also developed low fever and malaise.
Avatar n tn The dentist said to take antibiotics for a week and then come back for him to re-do the root canal and *try* to save this tooth. The pain continued for several days and now I have a horrible ear infection (but on the ear on the other side). I am now on 4000 mg of Augmentin for the ear w/ruficin (sp) shot as well. I am in horrible pain ~ My question is should I try to get an emergency extraction of the tooth that is black and hurting? Can the tooth be the cause of the ear infection?
Avatar f tn Hi, Im 48 and until recently very healthy (professional choreographer). 2 yrs ago got an acute kidney infection ( high fever, blood in pee, the works) which was treated with augmentin. since then, I keep getting less acute infections and they come back every 3 months. Low fever, very tired, abdominal swelling (a lot), back pain, urine strips show white blood cells and protein and occasionally nitrates.
Avatar f tn An initial root canal had been too shallow, had left some of the infected root in the tooth, and allowed the infection to progress into a nearby tooth, into my jaw, and all over my head. I became extremely ill for months (bedridden with the most severe flu-like illness). Both affected teeth have now been removed - under one the oral surgeon found a bone infection, he said the bone was mushy and he had to remove some of it.
Avatar f tn Anyway right now just dealing with the aftermath of a recent tooth extraction. My nose is on fire- the last month! 2 ents stick scope up nose and said it doesn’t look like I have an infection so they never treated me. A month goes by my nose is worse and so it’s acting all weird like I probably won’t have a nose because of lack of treatment. Just fed up- spending money and angry. And in the end I bet I will need the sinus surgery to clean it out.
Avatar n tn TL;DR: Has anyone seen or had a lymph node with no fatty hilum that was benign? And has anyone had a feeling in their throat when swallowing a month after a tooth extraction? Hi, all. I'll try not to make this too long, but I have a lot of info. My concern is a lymph node that was found on ultrasound June 1st and confirmed by CT June 3rd in my left upper neck that is firm, movable, slightly enlarged (1.2cm, I think), and was described as hypoechoic with no fatty hilum.
Avatar n tn You should start to see improvement by day 4. They will not extract an abcessed tooth and this is why they have you on an antibiotic and a medication to make the abcess start draining. Patience is needed right now, you'll be okay. Take care.
Avatar f tn 6 days ago I had my lower left molars removed, for teeth total. I had a massive tooth infection that swelled my face really substantially. Antibiotics didn't even take the swelling down. I received nerve damage from the infection causing paresthesia in my chin and lower lip. The extraction was done after a month of antibiotics and went off without a hitch. I had minimal pain and swelling from the procedure and seem to be healing well except for a couple of things.
Avatar f tn All of your symptoms except for the tooth infections and swollen lymph nodes in your neck are what I experienced, and for a similar length of time. Question: in addition to the swollen lymph glands are you also experiencing weight loss and are having night sweats? If so you may have a form of lymphoma. But, only testing will reveal what the real problem is. Visit with your MD and have him do x-rays and ct scans. These methods were used to diagnose my Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Avatar f tn Tonight is the first time in almost one month that the tooth has quieted down. I was on levaquin and then Augmentin and no help. Amoxicillan 500 seems to be doing soemthing. I am glad to learn how improtant ^7 is. Thank You for the link. I am going there now. I need to talk with your father. This is my 5th implant. Hubby says no more. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn Like the abscesses these infections present quickly (less than 12 hours) and within a day I have a fever and severe pain. Additionally the throat infections have been progressively getting worse (i.e. they are now prescribing pain relievers so I can eat). Medical background: 1) I have hashimoto's disease and am on Synthroid (.
Avatar f tn What kind of soap do you use some soaps are too strong and cause yeast infections. Zest will I know and shower gels as well like the kind from bath and body works. Scrunchies can transmit yeast infections if you unknowingly used one during a yeast infection. Also if you have a single partner it is possible that it's being transmitted back and forth constantly being sent back and forth Unknowingly. If that is the case your partner should be treated too.
Avatar m tn Because of a complicated dental issue, I've been on multiple antibiotics in the last few months (long story): 1. May 10: Penicillin VK 500mg tab (6 days) and Metronidazole 250mg tab (7 days) 4x per day for both 2. Jun 6: Amoxicillin 500mg; 4 tablets immediately then 1 pill 3x per day (2 weeks) 3. Jun 21: Augmentin 875mg + 125mg additives, 2x per day (3 weeks) 4. Sep 16: Clindamycin 300 mg, 3x per day (16 days) I am concerned by the number and duration of these antibiotics courses.
Avatar f tn My husband has put it off and now with all of his recent, on going illness, we are wondering if this tooth and his chronic sinus infections are related. The tooth in question has had repeated fillings and a crown is currently in place. Any feedback would be appreciated. I would love to get my healthy husband back.
