If you took augmentin, and it cleared up for you, it was a UTI and not an STI.

so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Thank you for your reply. Your reply and Grace's combined made a whole lot of sense. I will at times get bladder infections, etc... when I am taking oral or inhaled steroids. I guess it makes sense that with taking the steroids, high dose of augmentin for pneumonia would have an issue, duh!!!! Thank you again. Going to make an appt. tomorrow with OB/GYN and tonight will pick up some Dermoplast.

Its common to get it while pregnant if you ard if your not it doesnt matter still let your doctor know and he or she will give you some antiobiotics but make sure if you are pregnant to let your doctor know asap because bladder infections usually cause.the baby to come earlier . symptoms subsided. the morning after i took my last augmentin, i woke up with severe pain/cramping in my bladder and needed to urinate about every 20 min. got a home uti test, it was negative. went to cvs's minute clinic and they did urinalysis, and it was positive for bacteria, was given 7 days of bactrim. on day 4 of bactrim my symptoms (pain, urgency) had gotten worse, so i went to my GP and he repeated urinalysis, along with pregnancy test. both were negative.
For 2 months now, I have had earaches, pain in upper teeth, pain in the jaw,pain in temple, pain along bridge of nose, pain under eye and above brow. I've had a full doseof augmentin and had exrays on upper teeth. I'm living on aleve or ibuprofen. Please help me.
I have recently battled a sinus infection following a head cold. Treatment w/Augmentin helped the symptoms of the SI, but simultaneously I developed a very stiff neck pain. Augmentin always makes me feel "strange". Coincidence or related . Maybe others have experienced same?
Stop the medication. And go to the FDA site and file an adverse reaction form. We don't know for certain that the antibiotic is linked to the red rashes, however if an allergy has developed there is a remote but unlikely possibility that the allergenic response may worsen and become life-threatening. You have already been on the antibiotic two weeks, which is long enough (under normal circumstances) to clear an infection. Sinus infections are notoriously difficult to destroy.
Hey I just want to say that I have the same problems that you do but, I get UTI and not the bladder infections. I think it is a side effect because I am on antibiodics everyday for it. Good luck and let me know.
it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
