I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. you need to be seen today or tomorrow and get a proper exam done. they can also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. augmentin is reknown for causing vaginal yeast but certainly get seen and if they feel that anything looks like herpes, they can do a lesion culture and typing.

I got it from a girl who unknowingly had a yeast infection while I was on an antibiotic known as Augmentin for a foot injury (which apparently made me vulnerable to contracting a yeast infection). He put me on dyflucan and over the counter topical cream. The dyflucan was supposed to also re stabilize my stomach bacteria because I was having horrible stomach cramps possibly due to the augmentin and the yeast infection apparently.
Dr said that if it went away on Augmentin then it must be bacterial - but why would he then prescribe a yeast medication (spandnox -sorry about spelling) - wouldnt augmentin make yeast worse? Has anyone has a similar situation and had success treating the infection?? What was it treated with successfully? Is it possible this is a problem related to Group B strep?? Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. Look into Candida, yeast overgrowth. Symptoms fit and the history of antibiotics, ear infections, AND allergies all point towards candida. In fact, I would put money on it. If I were you, I would read the book "The Yeast Connection". It really gets into the cycle that antibiotics create and how it allows the candida to grow and create the problems that doctors once again treat with antibiotics.

Viral infections are by exclusion and do not need any antibiotic therapy unless there are super added infections. Viral infections are known to cause canker sores. The antibiotic of choice for a streptococcal infection is penicillin.

Cranberry makes the bladder slippery so the infections can't stick to the walls of the bladder. Another tasty option is real dried unsweetened (or sweetened with applejuice cranberries. They are found at health food stores and cost a fortune but they are so gooooood. Craisins are just candy.

Monistat works like a charm for yeast infections! That's what my doctor told me I could take. Just over the counter. He recommended the 7-day treatment. Baby is protected by the bubble she's in, so the medication does not get to him/her. Perfectly safe! Unless as previously said, you have any other complications. I would talk to your doctor before you do anything. And like they said, anti biotics are needed for a bacterial infection. Good luck!
If you took augmentin, and it cleared up for you, it was a UTI and not an STI.
You bought her clotrimazole? That's medication for a yeast infection, which can happen for lots of reasons, and is also not an STI.
Your wife is pregnant, though, and I understand why you are worried. After you've been off the augmentin for 3 weeks, test for all STIs to be able to put this behind you.

I am diabetic and I am prone to yeast infections so I had to ask in case. They told me pro b for prevention and Monistat 1 not the 1 day but 3 or 7 and do not insert more than an inch. I hope this helps.
