Dr said that if it went away on Augmentin then it must be bacterial - but why would he then prescribe a yeast medication (spandnox -sorry about spelling) - wouldnt augmentin make yeast worse? Has anyone has a similar situation and had success treating the infection?? What was it treated with successfully? Is it possible this is a problem related to Group B strep?? Im pretty desperate to find a solution..
I got it from a girl who unknowingly had a yeast infection while I was on an antibiotic known as Augmentin for a foot injury (which apparently made me vulnerable to contracting a yeast infection). He put me on dyflucan and over the counter topical cream. The dyflucan was supposed to also re stabilize my stomach bacteria because I was having horrible stomach cramps possibly due to the augmentin and the yeast infection apparently.
it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
Hi final found some answers An yes I did get a yeast infection and bacteral vagonsis from the augmentin I was then put on Flagyl for that, never want to take that stuff again made me sick. I was positive for type 1, new infected My IgG was only at 7.2, she said it should be 9.0 she will test me again in 6 weeks. the Culture was positive for herpes 1. I guess I had both going on bacteriainfection and the herpes.
anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
It sounds like an external yeast infection did you rub the yeast infection cream on those areas? It could be that you need another round of the Diflucan sometimes it is so bad that one pill is not enough. What kind of soap do you use some soaps are too strong and cause yeast infections. Zest will I know and shower gels as well like the kind from bath and body works. Scrunchies can transmit yeast infections if you unknowingly used one during a yeast infection.
I am taking Augmentin for a sinus infection that has now cleared up, but it gave me a yeast infection. I used the capsule of Monistat 1, but I don't think I got it in high enough because the next time I went to the bathroom most of it was between my labia. Fast forward a day and now I have five or side hard lumps under my mons pubis on the left side. I occasionally get these lumps and they go away, but never this many before.
( Symptoms include itching especially at night, red rash in the creases that burn, red-brown single spots, my vag is a little sore, no discharge, slight tears in hood of clit and on anus, bump on perineum, everytime I use the bathroom my anus spots blood. Itching did get better after shaving. My Pap Smear came back as LSIL mild dysplasia with HPV effects. I have Herpes 1 so I tried my Val but it didnt do anything.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
3 days later, I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with a yeast infection. 14 days later I had symptoms again and went to the doctor again. He said I still had a yeast infection and gave me more medicine. My symptoms never went completely away and now I have some burning again. I have had no bumps but I have one spot that is still red and irritated. Could this be herpes or some other infection? Is this too long a timeline?
in for fear it was not really healed. my question is, is that one of the side effects? i know the monostat 1 & 3 are pretty harsh and ive read about the effects other women experienced. my thinking is, since it is pretty harsh, and ive used it through almost twice, my insides are just angry with me and it is a reaction to the prolonged use ofthe medication rather than the yeast infection. has anyone else experienced this?
re prone to this, you can either request a different antibiotic (one that is less likely to cause this) or ask your doctor if there is something he/she can give you along with the antibiotic to reduce the likelihood of getting a yeast infection.

took that for a month and the side effects were so b ad that i had to stop using.. I went back in and he gave me a three month antibiotic called augmentin.. So i changed my diet and started taking the medication.. I stopped eating red meat, no sugar, and low- carbs. Really low carbs.. The medicine started giving me bad side effcts, like stomach pain, head burning, joint pain, bad gas, stay bloated.. severe stomach cramping. So i stopped taking the medicine..
they can also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. augmentin is reknown for causing vaginal yeast but certainly get seen and if they feel that anything looks like herpes, they can do a lesion culture and typing.
have you ever been tested for hsv2 to know your status? do your partners get tested?
Not only am I having very watery diarrhea, but I’ve been nauseaous and somewhat dizzy and, best of all, I think I’ve developed a yeast infection. And a bad one at that. It itches, burns, and has a strong odor. (Which I know is apparently not common for yeast infections, but idk if this medication could have caused BV or not so...? And my endless late night googling has found that sometimes a yeast infection can smell? I don’t know, man...)

Plus, this avoids some of the common side effects of oral medicines. If there is enough space in the canal, the drops can find their way down. Yes, I had one day fever 100.5 and very sore throat and developed full blown cold but fever I suspect was symptom for inflammation coming on. Because following mild neck/back/ shoulder pains, I was attacked with unbelievable painful locked shoulder joint which I believe was delayed adverse reaction from Augmentin. Never will take it again although I had it before and didn't have problem then.
