Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine withdrawal

antihistamine

Avatar n tn It's not an addictive substance. Its an antihistamine. Maybe you're psychologically dependent. Lucky you!
Avatar n tn ve got a little opiate withdrawal along with the antihistamine rebound that el_em mentioned. No fun for a few days and you probably won't sleep well for a few nights, but you'll get through it. Most docs don't prescribe tussionex for more than a short-term cough. If your doc has been prescribing it more than 6 or 8 weeks at most, you need to find another doctor who can treat the underlying condition that is causing the cough.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.

Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar n tn You can get Meclizine over the counter to take, it should help with the dizziness, but it may make you very tired so do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it will affect you. Also you can get an antihistamine, such as Claritin or Zyrtec to clear up the fluid. If you are concerned, you should see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Your over-all restlessness might be similar to the anxiety many of us have in withdrawl. I was given Vistaril in Detox for anxiety. It's an antihistamine that has a sedative effect. I don't know for sure, but maybe an OTC antihistamine like Benadryl would help with that.
Avatar m tn I keep trying to make a withdrawal taper to get back to where I was and keep up to where my husband thinks I am but it is hard and I am thinking of ways to get some more tablets to enable me to do this. I feel so awful and unworthy. I was so determined but had depression badly for 12 months and have only just got better. Why do I have to come off the diazapam.
Avatar n tn Hello all, I am on day 4 of hydro withdrawal and still feel like garbage. Stomach is constantly upset, legs wont stop shaking, restless at night. Also does anyone have clammy hands that no matter how much you try to dry them they just clam up right away again? Strange! How much longer can I expect to have these symptoms last? I have gone through this before but dont really remember. I hate feeling naseous and restless.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn The only other prescription drug I am on is a blood pressure pill which controls it well. I take several supplements and sometimes an antihistamine during the pollen season which we are getting into now. The suggestion that something else might be going on is helpful though I only have the sweating when I am past due for the Tramadol which leads me to believe that is the culprit.
Avatar f tn One ingredient of it, Acetaminophen is toxic to liver if taken in large quantities, which is exactly what you are doing. You are also overdosing on an antihistamine Doxylamine , which can cause bladder retention and memory loss among other things. It would seem that the nightly dose of Codeine has already caused you to be addicted to this concoction that is only meant to be taken occasionally for coughs and colds.
Avatar f tn however, later studies have not confirmed this finding. Signs of toxicity and symptoms of withdrawal have been reported in infants following high doses or chronic maternal use close to term. Diphenhydramine has been evaluated for the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum. It is generally not considered the antihistamine of choice for treating allergic rhinitis or nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Breast-Feeding Considerations Infants may be more sensitive to the effects of antihistamines.

612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar m tn time and I am very worried about diazapam withdrawal and how I am going to feel at work. I have been off for more than 12 months and am being redeployed into a new post. It just seems people have such a nightmarish time coming off these tablets and even after withdrawal a lot of people are very ill. I do want to go back to work but am worried, very worried about how I am going to feel. Don't want to make a fool of myself.
Avatar f tn Good information Elmjack. I've read that it is also an antihistamine, and since runny noses and sneezing are a very common withdrawal symptom, you can kill two birds with one stone.... Thanks for the post!
Avatar n tn Veramystâ„¢ (fluticasone furoate) is a nasal inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and, strictly speaking, not an antihistamine. As an anti-inflammatory medicine, however, has the potential to reduce histamine mediated inflammation, in a non-specific fashion. That it is not an antihistamine is evident by the very many studies of combination therapy, the combination of fluticasone with an histamine 2 (H2) blocker non-sedating antihistamine.
