666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar f tn vyvanse my children don't really want to eat and when it wears off they act like do get any food why?
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn It only is in the system for a short time based on its half life. Children can take this usually without incident. However, once stopped, some allergy sufferers are uncomfortable. Perhaps this is what is going on. Again, please talk to his doctor. Why did you discontinue it? Was there a particular reason? It's an antihistamine. Sometimes weaning down on the dose can help with that occurrence of increased allergy symptoms upon discontinuation.
Avatar n tn DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, that helps and I am no longer giving Wilson the Temaril. I'd like to limit use of steroids anyway, guess my concern reflects the fact it needs to be prescription only. Still, my vet was willing to renew the prescription, when I looked at $27 for 20 pills (that's what I paid for the round he has already gone through, and he looks just fine now) I will see how Bendadryl works - I have one friend who stopped paw licking in a Terrier he has.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
Avatar n tn If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat..... Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...Good luck & let us know what you find out....
Avatar n tn Took for 1week 5mg desloratadine after my ivf. transfer. Started the antihistamine day 6 after embryo transfer without thinking or consulting the dr.(i always took it during pregnancy and thought its safe but never at such an early stage of pregnancy). Tested positive BHCG day8 after transfer +hcg22 day11+hcg53 day16 hcg56 day18 dropped hcg36. Can the reason of miscarriage be the use of antihistamine ? can antihistamine stop implantation from continuing ?
Avatar m tn Outspoken, a steroid spray is one of the only forms of treatment for EE. An antihistamine will do very little since EE is not a typical form of 'allergy.
Avatar n tn Tagament (cimetidine) is in a class of heartburn medications called H2 receptor blockers. These are a special type of antihistamine which are more effective in the stomach, but they do have some effect on systemic allergic reactions. I have heard of using ranitidine for this purpose more frequently. You may want to talk to her doctor about supplementing the Allegra with benadryl when she starts itching.
Avatar m tn If the medications do not work, it is best that you inform her doctor for proper management. A change in medication or dosage may be indicated. With children, it is indeed difficult to avoid scratching but this can lead to secondary bacterial infection also. An over-the-counter antihistamine may also help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn For the past two months my legs have been insanely itchy. It gets worse at night and there are mosquito like bumps on them. It's JUST my legs. Not my arms, stomach, back or anything else. Just my legs. I was told bed bugs, but I've washed all the sheets, checked the mattress, box spring and bed frame...but there is nothing, not to mention my husband hasn't been affected. I was told scabies, but I'm the only one who's affected.
556935 tn?1215720270 25 mg of Xanax. Everything we have read says that it has not been evaluated for safety and effectiveness in children and is not generally prescribed for them. What we need to know is, is it ok for her to take them? Should we take her to see another Doctor and have something else given to her or should my husband speak to her counselor about the supposed symptoms, since they aren't something that we have ever encountered when she has been with us? Please give us some advice.
Avatar n tn The doctor said that because his prescription is so severe, he wants him to wear the glasses all the time and to cover his good eye with a patch for 8 hours a day for a year and half at least, which it bothers him tremendously. Any other suggestion in this matter? How do I get my son to wear the patch? and do you think it is too early for an astigmatism to be detected? Will his vision benefit from the glasses and the patch? Any advice on how to get him used to them?
Avatar n tn If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.) When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.
Avatar f tn Just to let anyone know I found out from the pharmacy today that taking certain OTC cold and flu pills especially the night time versions contain chlorpheniramine or antihistamine.. Which should not be combined with meds like xanax because they both contain an ingredient to make you relax and it can effect your breathing by relaxing you essentially too much...
