Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine breathing

antihistamine

Avatar n tn My pug has been suffering from breathing problem since a few weeks. He has had a running nose, hard to breathe and very uncomfortable specially during the evenings. The vet has given him two rounds of antibiotics which don't seem to be really working. I personally have given himm 1ml of antihistamine( human) that seems to give him some respite. The vet did take a swap test of his snort but that was 3weeks ago but has not called me back. I am really worried because he is very uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn Try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops, breathing exercises, and oral antihistamine medications and see if they help. Let us know about what your doctor tells you and keep us posted on how you are doing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Have you discussed with your husband? Does he suffer from nasal congestion? I have night time, usually only when lying down, congestion that causes me to suffer a very sore dry mouth from breathing through my mouth. I don't believe I make any unusual noises, my wife has not complained other then when I snore - which is a rare event. For starters you might try with your husband taking an antihistamine at bed time to see if anything changes. If it does congestion may be the problem.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn I have problems breathing, i need to take a deep breath every few minutes and its getting worse, its kind of like a 'sigh' or a little bit like a yawn, but feels like I can never get enough air. Most of the time I feel like I shudder' afterwards, almost like when a baby cries and is winding down afterwards and gives the little sobs. I am feeling like I am suffering anxiety, i was on valium before and feel similar to the time before....
Avatar n tn Try giving him liquid Benadryl. If his breathing improves with the antihistamine he has asthma. Lying down would make it worse. When my son was around six we left our mountain desert home to vacation in the humid tropics. I noticed he had trouble breathing and could hardly walk. My husband had to carry him back to the hotel. We telephoned a doctor. He said to give him liquid Benadryl. If it worked, then he had asthma. If not, bring him to the ER. It worked.
Avatar f tn It would be best to avoid all such substances which have been causing similar reactions - they could turn into serious symptoms even causing breathing difficulty. Keep some oral antihistamine medications at hand like cetrizine, loratadine and take the medications in case you have similar symptoms again. Consult an allergy specialist and get yourself tested for food allergies - you would probably need to carry an epi-pen with you in the future.
Avatar n tn You should try steam inhalation just before you sleep and also saline nasal drops. Breathing exercises also are known to help in some cases. You could try oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications for a few days. If your symptoms still persist, you should consult your doctor and talk to him / her about your symptoms in detail and also whether you need to see an allergy specialist or ENT specialist. Let us know if you have any doubts and also keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn I bet its only seasonal, so just take some over the counter decongestant/antihistamine and it should be ok. And go see a Dr. to determine what you're allergic to.

Avatar m tn After reading a bit on the internet and stumbling upon some websites that claim if you have problem breathing in, not breathing out (which I do) to get checked for silent reflux. Also at this point I was getting some classic reflux episodes like a lump in throat. So I made an appointment for endoscopy in Bangkok and indeed I was diagnosed with reflux and small hiatal hernia.
Avatar n tn i have recently got rid of my cat witch i was allergic to i was and still are having asthma and difficulty breathing im a bit confused because my cat is know gone and although the symptoms have eased they have not gone altogether is this common? how long am i to expect this to go on for can anybody help?
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a go. About 5 days ago, after a quick snack my face began to swell. I've had this happen once before, so I knew to take some antihistamine, but within minutes I couldn't swallow, so I went to the hospital to get checked out.
1965789 tn?1325556251 It may be worth asking about the antihistamine too. I know doctors are a little iffy about allowing a child to have the antihistamine, but she may need more so it could be worth asking about correct dosage. Likewise if her swelling, rash, or fever gets anyworse I'd suggest taking her to the ER. And if it sounds like she's having difficultly breathing I'd suggest taking her to the ER asap! Otherwise make sure she sees the dr first thing in the morning.
Avatar f tn she told me that i should focus on treating my asthma so i nebulized on that visit and prescribed me a inhaler. i felt the relief but my cough and breathing is still bad. and started using my inhaler. after a few days that i was using inhaler I still feel the same it gave me a little relief but i was still feeling sick and tired and the cough is still bad. so i went to visit her again and i was on my third week with the cough and cold and asthma.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
Avatar f tn He tried Doubling up Claritin and Tesslin Pearls, next it was omeprazole, honey with cinnamon, and a strong antihistamine, and then a breathing test (I don’t have asthma) and now an inhaler. Once in a while for a few hours I don’t have a cough, but it always returns with a vengeance. Day or night it never stops for long. The other night the tickle started and I gagged and threw up on the spot. No warning. Just wondering if anyone knows what’s wrong with me.
Avatar f tn You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi & Welcome....She's already taking an antihistamine (I would not add more).....Temaril-P is a combination drug consisting of antihistamine & a steriod. What I think she needs is LASIX (For the fluid retention). Normally for heart failure, Lasix are prescribed along with the heart meds. and can be given 1-3 times a day depending on the severity of the congestion. Once, the fluid is off her lungs, the cough and congestion will improve greatly.
