Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine sleep aid

antihistamine

Avatar n tn doxylamine. I have not used it, but it must operate under the same principal: older antihistamines can make you sleepy. desrt's link to drugs.com will take you to all of the available antihistamine info. That same site also says that these antihistamine sleep aids are not for people with glaucoma or kidney disease.

1399363 tn?1462342610 Please help finding sleep aid that wont effect tachycardia, palpitation, excitatory, etc. :( Im really in terrible condition especially heart. and insomnia making it worse and im afraid trying things out as im super sensitive now. Avatar f tn diphenhydramine was approved for OTC sleep aid BEFORE it was approved for allergy relief OTC. Years ago I was having a problem with a rash and didn't have medical insurance. A friend at Church was a pharmacist. I asked Doc (what else would he have had as a nickname? ;) ) to recommend something OTC for the rash. He told me to go get some Nytol. When I replied "Doc, I have a rash not insomnia." Doc proceeded to inform me about the OTC use approval.
Avatar f tn So I have recently tried to stop taking my sleep aid. At present, I am going two or three nights without the clonazepam, but taking an antihistamine for my nasal clogging and dripping at bedtime. I can sleep reasonably well some nights, but I often stay awake a lot throughout the night and during the day I'm experiencing a lot of short spells of both anxiety and depression--which I assume is related to eliminating the clonazepam.

Anyone have any sleep aid suggestions? Something OTC. I took my last clonidine last night, and am trying not to think about losing sleep tonight.
