478554 tn?1208034407 I always have difficulties going to sleep since youngster. I am 65 years old, retired, living in Northern California. To help fall asleep, I tried Melatonin, but often is not seem effective. I regularly take antihistamine to help fall asleep. Costco sells Diphenhydramine HCI 25mg at good price. But if I take this antihistamine 3 nights in a row, I develop this cough, ring in my ear and general not-alertness.

Avatar f tn If you are not taking anything prescribed for your allergies, you can try an OTC antihistamine like Sudafed, as well. If using an antihistamine be aware that it will show up in drug tests, and can cause you to fail them. So always make the tester aware you are taking them before hand should you need a test done for work etc. I Hope This Helps.
Avatar f tn I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..
Avatar f tn I think you are prudent in being cautius about relyiong on medication (even antihistamine) for sleep for such a young child. Maintaining a stable schedule along with good nutrition whould result in a smoothing out of her sleep/wake cycle as she matures.
Avatar n tn For about 22years now, I have had this chronic unyielding, head to toe itch with no rash. The only thing that helps is a daily antihistamine. There is no rash or real explanation on what the true trigger is. Doctors think it's in my head. I take a daily allergy pill and have for 22 years.
Avatar f tn Take tylonal cold/flu and vitamin c, and drink Orange juice and get as much sleep as you can. That's what my doctor said bc im 38 weeks and had a cold for a week. I don't know if robitussun is to good for you while your pregnant.
Avatar n tn Hey all! Please help me out! I have problems with my eyes for about four months now. The persisting symptoms are photophobia and painful eyes. When i wake up, my right eye is painful and pink. Pink goes away fast but the pain generally remains (sometimes all day). I take gel lubricant and artificial tears, antihistamine + mast stabiliser eye drops; i've taken care for my matress, pillows and other »risk« material. (to cope with my allergy to mites).
Avatar n tn So, try to develop good sleep hygiene. Sleep and get up at the same time every day, avoid smoking, alcoholic and caffeinated beverages and exercise regularly. And consult a sleep specialist for the insomnia, he may help rule out sleep disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn However, I was speaking with my sister in law who is an RN. She said that they often have their patients take an antihistamine such as Claritin with their injections to lessen the sypmptoms (both flu-like and injection site.) I'm wondering if any of you have heard of this, or do take the antihistamine. Right now I take Panadol and do my injection right before bed to try and sleep through it.
549511 tn?1271775930 the lastest specialist i went to was an allergist and he told me this new antihistamine would reduce the rash within a very short time.Well i took it and 15 minutes later my head my spinning and i felt disorentated,it freaked me out so i laid on the bed and woke up 17 hours later. It was no antihistamine at all it was an anti depressant drug.I am furious that he lied about the medication.why cant these doctors tell you what poison they are prescribing?
