antihistamine

666921 tn?1254990618 I agree with Patsy about asking doctor - just wanted to pass this info. on - antihistamine supressess the allergic reaction - so though I read it on another forum - it still makes sense to me to try to avoid taking it - anyway asking the doc. about any 'drugs' is always a good idea.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar f tn Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
Avatar n tn What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.
Avatar n tn E who said it was a panic attack whic I think was just areaction, I had antihistamine, when it wore off in the morning the heart racingstarted agin so I went to A&E again, today I feel a lot better bt still have a problem remembering some things, your advice would be much appreciated as I feel a little scared.
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopic surgery 8 weeks ago and now around each incision I have a red bumpy and VERY itchy rash. The wounds have healed and look good but I was wondering if this is some reaction to the dissolvable sutures they used. What do they treat that with?
1965789 tn?1325556251 It may be worth asking about the antihistamine too. I know doctors are a little iffy about allowing a child to have the antihistamine, but she may need more so it could be worth asking about correct dosage. Likewise if her swelling, rash, or fever gets anyworse I'd suggest taking her to the ER. And if it sounds like she's having difficultly breathing I'd suggest taking her to the ER asap! Otherwise make sure she sees the dr first thing in the morning.
Avatar n tn t seem to find much on the net about meth and rashes, so I am wondering if the level of hydro is still up there enough to possibly be the mix causing this rash. I finally took an antihistamine and half of one of my prednisone before bedtime, and it finally let me go to sleep with the severe itching subsiding somewhat. Anyone have an ideas or have had a rash reaction with methadone? Thanks for any help!
Avatar n tn How long would it take to have an allergic reaction to a topically applied cosmetic treatment? I have had a reaction to something and all I can think of is that I used some new products containing natural herbs and fruit enzymes etc, however this was almost 48 hours ago. My symptoms are itching and bumpy, slightly reddened skin on my face.
Avatar f tn Then finaly dermatologist suggested that it can be delayed alergy reaction from the bite and I received Antihistamine and corticosteroids shots and everything was gone in 15 minutes... 24 hours after the shots the swellings came back. Antihistamine pills did not help at all. Swelling on feet, and itchy red patches on my palms... struggling with that for 2-3 days i had to get shots so i can get some relief for at least 24 hours... then i went on strict food diet...
Avatar m tn Prednisone, epinephrine and an antihistamine are commonly prescribed and kept on hand. You must srupulously avoid shellfish. If you have another episode, if you don't have antidotes, it is a reason to call 911. The situation can progress from a mild reaction to death in a very few minutes.
Avatar n tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist as you may need steroids. Also use mild soaps like dove or cetaphil and moisturizers like cetaphil or Aveeno.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar m tn Yes, as soon as you get a reaction you should stop taking it because it's possible the reaction can easily go from mild to severe. Make an apt with your dr/dentist asap to see if you need a different type of antibiotics or if the amount you had was enough. Also make sure that you list it as an allergy in the future so you're not prescribed it again. As far as the rash goes ask a pharmacist for an antihistamine cream.
Avatar n tn Because he had never reacted this way before, I called the vet, and he told me to bring him back in. The vet gave him an antihistamine injection in case he was having an allergic reaction to the vaccines. He was eating and back to normal several hours later. The vet doesn't know whether the antihistamine helped or if he would have been fine anyway. I am concerned about how he'll react to this year's vaccines.
Avatar n tn 30 AM. I never experienced an allergic reaction. On 1/26 at 10:30 PM I took a 10 mg dose of Levitra after a dinner during which I consumed two alcoholic drinks (whisky with water and a glass of white wine). In the course of the early morning I experienced some itching in my genital area. In the morning at around 8 AM I noticed swelling of my index finger of my right hand an rash/hives in my genital area, front waste, and under my arms. I have consumed much water in the course of the day.
Avatar f tn Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. Antihistamine works by blocking your immune system's response to the allergen. If still the symptoms persist then pls consult a physician. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn When you see the doctor, get him or her to tell you how large a dose of antihistamine you should take for a reaction like this. If you can get the antihistamine into your system quickly enough, then that ought to greatly reduce the chances of your ever needing to use the epi pen. I would take the antihistamine as soon as any hint of a systemic reaction started.
Avatar n tn First you need to stay on antihistamine until it is gone. Benadryl is great stuff. You should see a GP or allergist doctor. You definitely had a reaction to that sting and are still having it. Sounds like the ER ruled out anaphylaxis but you did have Benadryl in you so that I'm not sure about the results. Just stay on antihistamine on schedule to prevent something worst.
Avatar f tn You need Benadryl or an antihistamine to reduce the allergic reaction. The chapsticks won't do much. You should feel noticeably better taking the antihistamine. Whatever that cereal was--- no more!
Avatar n tn no new foods, lotions. I am allergic to dust but never had a reaction like this. I look UGLY.
Avatar f tn A second geberation antihistamine, like Allegra, helps control one part of the allergic skin reaction. A prescription medicine, Singulair acts on another part of the allergic reaction. You may want to ask your doctor about it. This forum is not a substitute for a medical examination, but you may have asthma. Asthma causes your airways to spasm causing breathing problems and could be triggered by cold weather.
Avatar m tn s the case, it sounds like an immune allergic reaction, try some antihistamine tablets and see what happens. Of course follow up with a doctor when you can.
Avatar f tn After seeing several GPs which each gave me different diagnoses and treatments with ointments, antibiotics and antihistamines, I was eventually given the diagnosis of a severe allergic reaction and was taking 1 antihistamine tablet a day which prevented the reaction from returning. I then took a year off and have had no problems with my eyes.
