Avatar n tn Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (commonly sold as benedryl) is an antihistamine which makes patients drowsy, so is taken in higher doses at bedtime to make patients sleep. It is sold in 25 mg pills and as extra strength, 50 mg pills. I found a list of drug recommendations on the Janis & Friends site last year and it said that patients were allowed up to 200 mg per night while on IFN/ribivirin therapy and it's what I used for sleep throughout TX.
9156053 tn?1406059654 Yeah its an antihistamine, it will make you drowsy. Maybe your Dr can switch you?
351404 tn?1299489130 I was told by an allergist that Benedryl should not speed my heart up. As a matter of fact, it tends to make you sleepy. I would not think that caused it.
442658 tn?1563386491 first try get valium or temazepam, they are great for first few weeks , if a doctor wont give that to you, buy an antihistamine like phenergan or polaramine they are used mainly for alergy suffers but they make you VERY sleepy and they are non addicting and after taking them for a week the effects will wear off, you can get them over the counter
Avatar f tn Part of this is that are very common symptoms on brimonidine In fact in 20% of glaucoma patients on the generic version the medication has to be stopped because of complaints of redness, irritation, pain and discomfort and dry mouth and bad taste in mouth. If you still have it read the package insert that you get when you get a new bottle of medicine. Or go on the internet and read the side effects.
Avatar f tn Clariton is an antihistamine that has something in it to keep you from getting drowsy (antihistamines normally make you sleepy and can be used for insomnia). I suspect it is the additive in the Clariton that gave you the headache. Some people react badly to it. If you want to try a standard antihistamine get Benadryl. If your symptoms go away then you know it is an allergy and not an infection. If it doesn't work, go to a doctor.
Avatar f tn I am addicted to Diet Dr Pepper which is full of caffiene (yes I knowh ow unhealthy this drink is for me) and I take them. I still get drowsy. In fact, they lay me straight out. So I don't think its going to hurt you. However, if you are in need of antihistamine, water is a good idea because it thins out mucous and helps you breath and which chest congestion and coughing.
Avatar f tn ll tell you whether she wants you to take 10mg/day of Xyzal or do something else and whether you need to make an appointment ;)
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn You can develop rash when youre' allergic to just about anything. If you are certain it's a food allergy, you need to determine what food it is and avoid it. Meanwhile, have him take some Benadryl (it can make him sleepy though).
151928 tn?1275707337 I was on prometrium suppositories for my first iui and nausea is one of the listed side effects. I suffered from it starting 2-3 days after my first dose. It can also make you tired, dizzy, cramps, bloating, worry, irritability, headache and sore bbs. Unfortunately some of those are also symptoms of pms and possible early sign of pregnancy. It really messes with your head as you get close to the end of your ttw and you are trying to guess where your symptoms are coming from.
Avatar f tn Ya I agree with wannabefree330 I am on Vistaril for sleep I didnt want to take Ambien again so my doctor put me on it to help me sleep, he said in was just an antihistamine until a few clean months pass and I can sleep on my own again! yay! looking forward to that.
Avatar f tn Keep track of all the medications that seem to cause the hives, and maybe even experiment with whether different generics of the same medication have the same side effects (for example one generic atarax is green and another white, which might make a difference if you are allergic to that particular coloring agent). You may even have to have an allergist help you figure out what exactly it is that you are allergic to.

Avatar m tn Try taking a Benadryl at night or when you start itching. Becareful they do make you sleepy. I take one every night. Good luck, I hope I helped some.
Avatar f tn I am constantly focusing on my breathing. When you do this of course it is going to make you breathe differently, too much, too strong, whatever. Its like you are trying to prove to yourself that you are getting enough air. Well eventually your lungs are going to get tired of "overbreathing" and it will feel like you cannot get enough air into your lungs. IF you will slow down your breathing, try not to focus on it so much, you will eventually get back to normal.....
Avatar m tn For your anxiety, sleeplessness and headache, I would recommend some sleepy time tea at bedtime. It is very relaxing and has something in it that makes you sleepy (something that is not addictive). And also melatonin will help you relax and sleep. As for the itchy skin, try taking some OTC benedryl, the antihistimine that is in the mersyndol could be causing the itchiness since you are not taking it anymore.
Avatar n tn benadryl is also a very good antihistamine, and it will make you sleepy so that you could get some sleep for the short term. you could get allergy tests done to nail down exactly what you're allergic to. i know that you don't want to rely on meds, but not all meds are bad to take, especially something as benign as allergy medication which has very few side effects like zyrtec or singulair. some of these medications are very beneficial. hope this helps! best of luck!
Avatar f tn One, when you take 5htp...triptophan you are constantly sleepy. I was put on a small amount and it did NOT cut the depression. So I got up to 5,000 mg of 5htp and other combination of naturals. Now when taking prescription meds for your condition, you MUST tell your psych about everything you take. Your pharmacist knows what interacts and should have a list of everything you take, prescription and nonprescription.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you have a "Zyrtec" hangover going on! :0) It happens. Sometimes it just takes a power nap to rid yourself of that residual drowsiness. If that doesn't help, or you can't power nap...then you should feel better within 24 hrs (much sooner probably)!!!
