666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with IBS after a long list of tests for various other possible problems. I'm still working out diet and things to ease my symptoms, but I have one off the wall symptom that the doctor couldn't really explain. Generalized itching. I visited the doctor with a slightly raised rash on my side shortly after I started feeling itchy and was treated for scabies, and I went the extra step to be sure they couldn't live.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free, prescription laxatives and antacids, OTC laxatives and antacids, more water, gas-x and the like, low FODMAP diet for IBS, IBGard, etc. It's not an allergy. It's not acid reflux. It's not IBS. So what is it? I'm about done with this.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar m tn I agree. It's an allergic reaction. To help clarify this "globus" reaction, as the GI doctor would refer to it as, is a little of both allergy and GI issue. But, it is definitely an allergic reaction--even if a GI doctor often doesn't recognize it as such. I get this reaction with some foods, too. I also get the burning sensation from certain foods that I recognize as an allergic reaction.
Avatar n tn I am pretty sure it is the antihistamine, because if I stop taking it, my digestive tract starts to feel bad again, and the itching comes back. I am so trying to figure this out, and that's how I came to this forum. I find it hard to believe I am really allergic to food at this stage in my life, although I know allergies can develop over time. That's why I am intriqued by the explanation of the leaky gut causing "food allergy" symptoms.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
168348 tn?1379357075 IC can also occur and usually does along side other pelvic conditions, like Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Fibromyalgia, IBS and others. We do know that most IC patients have an increase in Mast Cells and histamine, which is why many doctor's start their patients out on an antihistamine to help treat it. This is also a found in many autoimmune diseases. The symptoms of IC can vary greatly between patients and even the same patient throughout the day.
Avatar n tn Veramystâ„¢ (fluticasone furoate) is a nasal inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and, strictly speaking, not an antihistamine. As an anti-inflammatory medicine, however, has the potential to reduce histamine mediated inflammation, in a non-specific fashion. That it is not an antihistamine is evident by the very many studies of combination therapy, the combination of fluticasone with an histamine 2 (H2) blocker non-sedating antihistamine.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar n tn com will take you to all of the available antihistamine info. That same site also says that these antihistamine sleep aids are not for people with glaucoma or kidney disease.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
Avatar f tn - the symptoms improve from the drugs, but which drugs? The antibiotics or the antihistamine? The improvement *tends* to say that your problem is not Wegener's. - the phlegm from years ago also tends against Wegener's, I think. Wegener's is a disease of blood vessels, not lung tissue. So why the phlegm? Maybe you have lung inflammation but no infection. So that could explain why the antihistamine might help. Did you ever take strong antihistamines without antibiotics?
Avatar f tn Welcome to the IBS community! Yes this does sound like it could be IBS. Hav eyou seen a gastroenterologist about this? Have you had any testing done?
5553333 tn?1369941048 I am a little self diagnosed with IBS but I did pay a trip to the doctor and he said IBS could be the case, along with lactose intolerance. I am supposed to visit the doctor again in a few weeks and I have been learning to control my IBS. Do you think IBS could be the situation I am in? Or does it sound like something else?
Avatar n tn I have IBS, low iron, hair loss.....Please tell how to make this problem more livable....I have the diarrhea type of IBS and have been taking a powder/H2O and eating more fibrous foods, cut caffeine & sugar....But stools are still very loose. Sometimes feel extreme urge to go and even have lower bowel cramping. Have lost weight, strength, and am tired most of the time. Have had overwhelming stress in my life for the past 10 years, but situation getting now. HELP!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Symptoms for IBS can be triggered by certain precipitating factors. Treatment for IBS is avoiding triggering factors which initiate or worsen the symptoms of IBS like exercise for you – very sensitive bowel may react to normal exercise of everyday living. You can stop exercise and see if your symptoms are improving. Once stabilized, you can slowly introduce mild exercises like walking and then progress further. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have IBS. Havent moved my bowels in 3 days. I eat a high fiber diet. I am stressed. Should I take some laxatives? I eat all bran buds for breakfast every morning. I have lazy bowels. I eat apples, oranges, plums. I dont know what i am doing wrong. I am in alot of pain right now, being backed up with feces. Please help me!!
Avatar m tn The pain and the bowel symptoms could be due to IBS. But IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e. once all other diseases of the colon like colitis, infections, tumors etc. have been ruled out, then the diagnosis of IBS is made. Please consult your doctor, who may ask for blood tests and sometimes a colonoscopy to rule out these conditions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
