Avatar n tn I suffer from eczema on my face and about four years ago I developed steroid rosacea. Since then I have not used steroids and was told by my dermatologist that the steroid rosacea would go away on it's own. Two years later it went away, as well as my blepharitis at the same time. I was 25 at the time everything cleared. I am also of south asian descent. One year later the symptoms of the rosacea and blepharitis re-appeared. My MD now has me on 100 doxy and metro gel.
Avatar n tn I am going to try a high UVA sunblock and I think I read that taking an antihistamine before going out might help. I know that you cannot offer me a definitive diagnosis, but why would I suddenly develop a sun sensitivity?
Avatar n tn I will be here till December 2008. I have seb derm, rosacea and psoriasis on my legs-now in remission for about 4 years. Since December 2007, I have observed reddish inflammation on my penis glans, with a few grainy eruptions. I applied some betamethasone and it went away. Now from this April, the redness resurfaced, it goes away with steroids and comes back immediately once its stopped. So I have started applying OTC hydrocotizone 1% and from last Sunday I stopped it since it looked better.
Avatar m tn t use it much, as ophthalmologists, for its antibacterial effect but more for its ability to reduce oily secretions on the eyelid margin and some anti-inflammatory effects. I'm a little confused at your regimen. Generally if a culture was taken, a true ophthalmic antibiotic drop might be used. Perhaps you are seeing a specialist ophthalmologist who is really treating lid margin disease or acne rosacea?
Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for your reply. It seems like more people are telling me that they are getting hypothyroid in middleage or near menopause. Are you on thyroid meds now? As for the antihistamine, I'm not on it for allergies it is to lessen the number of migraines. I am taking a generic med called cyproheptadine that my neurologist gave me. It lowers serotonin. I have been skin tested for a lot of allergies and they all came up negative except the mold came up later.
Avatar m tn i have recently only after breaking up with my last girlfriend, or, more revelant, never before that, in all 22 years of living never expierenced this. not before that, only after, so a period of 4 months after breaking up. well the PROBLEM mainly is around the nasallabial area?
Avatar f tn GPs have tried various things and I take lansoprazole, venlafaxine (tiny dose of my choosing because of side effects), lymecycline for rosacea (another joy) and antihistamine for skin itching and ears sealing up. I also have an inhaler for coughing asthma. Vitamin D within normal range, as is B12 and iron, though all on low side. I take supplements. I don’t meditate but I am training to be a hypnotherapist (believe it or not!). Self hypnosis is not so easy.
Avatar f tn Quite honestly your skin pores look a little clogged, but I wouldn't call it acne and I wouldn't call it rosacea (both which run in my family). You could visit a dermatologist (a skin doctor), but without insurance it can be $$$ costly. Instead, self-treatment is a good alternative. It sounds like your skin is sensitive.
Avatar m tn There are never more than two in the same area at once. The doctors treated for scabies, rosacea, impetigo and adult onset acne. None of those treatments worked. They even asked if I were diabetic. I used to work in a vet office and would often treat animals with Demodetic Mange. I asked if this could be my cause and was told no. If you get an answer please post.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn Taking an antihistamine such as Piriton may be helpful, and treatment with oral or topical steroids may be indicated. Don't use a steroid cream (like Hydrocortisone) on your face unless instructed to by a doctor. Facial redness can be a symptom of a condition such as Rosacea, although it is more common to get this on the cheeks and nose. Rosacea can be treated with topical Metronidozole or oral Oxytetracycline.
Avatar f tn At times the rash somewhat clears except for maybe 20-30 bumps. At other times I have 100 or more. They do itch, especially after bathing or swimming. If I scrub them off in the shower then they ooze and get quite sore. It is now July of 2008 and I have continuously had this rash. My dermatologist says that it is ordinary to have a rash such as this for months. Is he correct?
Avatar n tn in my eyebrows, the bridge of my nose, both my cheeks, and along my jawline on each side. it usually goes away for a while, but it always comes back. i took some pictures today if anyone would like to see them. it looks so horrible this morning that i had to stay home from work. it also goes into my gotee and moustache, turning them both red and burning, and also cause flaking. it also makes the outer skin around my nostrils really itchy!
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be rosacea. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of convexities of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin. Pimples are sometimes included as part of the definition. Treatment options vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment.A dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn [16; Female; 5 '8; 136lbs] So to keep this short, I have red cheeks. It's been present for all of my life and it's one of my main insecurities. No other redness is apparent on my apart from my cheeks. No bumps, veins, and burning on them, it's just a solid, smooth redness that fades near my mouth and somewhat in the middle of my cheek.

Avatar m tn You have likely read this but for others who may read this later: Causes: Experts are not sure what causes rosacea. The following related factors are thought to contribute: Abnormalities in facial blood vessels: Skin specialists (dermatologists) suggest that abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face cause the flushing, persistent redness, and visible blood vessels.
