Antihistamine and rosacea

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and rosacea

antihistamine

Avatar n tn One year later the symptoms of the rosacea and blepharitis re-appeared. My MD now has me on 100 doxy and metro gel. Three months into the treatment I have noticed no improvement, and have been told by my MD that I will be on doxy for at least a year. My skin is reddened, sensative and it burns. My skin flushing has also come back. I thought that once staroid rosacea dissapears it shouldn't come back. I don't think I can deal with this much longer.
Avatar n tn Cool compress, cortisone cream or over-the-counter antihistamine medication may also help. However, it is recommended to prevent too much sun exposure and to use sunscreens or UV protected clothing. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your dermatologist. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have this red rough and itchy patches on my face on and off. It will get better and seem to go away only to come back. I have tried to see if I was allergic to something but I cant figure it out. It itches and burns and nothing I put on it helps. The doc put me on antibiotics for 10 days and it helped alittle but came back. My skin will flake after it starts to get better and then it will start all over. I thought maybe rosacea but I am not sure.

Avatar n tn I will be here till December 2008. I have seb derm, rosacea and psoriasis on my legs-now in remission for about 4 years. Since December 2007, I have observed reddish inflammation on my penis glans, with a few grainy eruptions. I applied some betamethasone and it went away. Now from this April, the redness resurfaced, it goes away with steroids and comes back immediately once its stopped. So I have started applying OTC hydrocotizone 1% and from last Sunday I stopped it since it looked better.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with conjunctivitis, the only problem is that my Dr does not know which type it is yet (bacterial vs allergic). She did culture the eye and prescribed two types of medication. One was an antihistamine eye drop (began with a P), the other mediciation to treat it if its the bacterial conjunctivitis is doxycycline. When I went home, I researched doxycycline and was surprised to learn that it treats chlaymdia!
Avatar f tn I had my annual physical and I am 50 and never had low thyroid. It was up from 2.2 to 3.2 for some reason. Can you get older age onset low thyroid at my age. I have no other symtoms. No weight gain, tired but I take a strong antihistamine daily (side effect is fatigue) so before the antihistamine I was less tired. The doctor examined my thyroid and I don't have any lumps or abnormaliites. I had a CT scan of the throat about 6 months ago and that was normal.
Avatar m tn i have recently only after breaking up with my last girlfriend, or, more revelant, never before that, in all 22 years of living never expierenced this. not before that, only after, so a period of 4 months after breaking up. well the PROBLEM mainly is around the nasallabial area?
Avatar m tn You could just have chronic allergies and need to take patenol longer and use oral antihistamine as well. Dry eyes could be involved. Oral flax and fish oil may help. Maybe you didn't take the doxy long enough - perhaps minocycline very low dose with food might be easier on you. Sterilid or Ocusoft Plus lid cleanser pads might help for certain cases. I expect culture to be negative because you have been on antibiotics and often these cases are not bacteria related. Michael J.
Avatar f tn Quite honestly your skin pores look a little clogged, but I wouldn't call it acne and I wouldn't call it rosacea (both which run in my family). You could visit a dermatologist (a skin doctor), but without insurance it can be $$$ costly. Instead, self-treatment is a good alternative. It sounds like your skin is sensitive.
918049 tn?1243374764 You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate wymptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide) which are available on prescription.
Avatar n tn Taking an antihistamine such as Piriton may be helpful, and treatment with oral or topical steroids may be indicated. Don't use a steroid cream (like Hydrocortisone) on your face unless instructed to by a doctor. Facial redness can be a symptom of a condition such as Rosacea, although it is more common to get this on the cheeks and nose. Rosacea can be treated with topical Metronidozole or oral Oxytetracycline.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn it also goes into my gotee and moustache, turning them both red and burning, and also cause flaking. it also makes the outer skin around my nostrils really itchy! can anyone help thanks This discussion is related to Strange rash on face.
Avatar f tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
481101 tn?1209087469 Does anyone have any thoughts on Rosacea and Pregnancy? Mine in getting much worse and i'm not sure what to do or if I can do anything to help it. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hello, I went to the dermatologist a few months ago with a red face and slight acne on my forehead. She immediately said it was rosacea and prescribed me Rhofade. It was expensive and eventually hurt more than it helped. So, I went back and she prescribed me Soolantra. That seemed to have worked for a couple of days. Now, my face is back to being completely red and burning. I'm used to blushing easily, but this occurs even when I'm sitting at home. It's constant.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn An ophthalmologist has his/her education and special instruments. Rosacea usually has a rash on forehead, cheeks, nose and eyelids.
Avatar n tn The facial left me uneven ugly texture on my cheeks, some scars, enlarged pores on my cheeks in places i never had before and rosacea which i did not have prior to the facial. My question is whether i will be able to correct these texture problems and scars in the future with fraxel or would fraxel make my skin worse since i now have rosacia.
Avatar n tn It does not occur anywhere except the area of my chest that is normally seen through a neckline opening and across my nose and a little bit of my cheeks. I am 50 years old but still have oily skin. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn However, within about six months, I noticed a thickening of the skin on my cheeks near the sides of my nose- which the dermatologist diagnosed as Rosacea. It is irreversible and I am crushed. My Clarisonic is put away, and I am never going to clean my face with anything other than mild cleanser and my fingers. The doc specifically said that any friction at all, even soft brushes, can bring on Rosacea.
Avatar n tn The bumps are like little pimples and are rough and dry. My face has general redness over the nose and cheeks (I look like I have constant sunburn). A friend thinks I may have rosacea. The symptoms I experience have not bothered me. There's no pain, itchiness, etc. But I'm wondering if there's need to worry?
