My daughter is suffering from eczema from the time she was 2 months old. Her Ped prescribed antihistamine for itching. We are concerned about the side effects.
She does not have any immune system related issues.
Her itching increases during the night time and it has been severe since the past 2-3 weeks. Only now we started giving her antihistamine and are concerned about the side effects.
Is there any other way to stop her itching.
applying soft, cool wet towel to the itchy area for immediate relief and applying moisturizer after, distracting your child when she is scratching, and applying wet dressing. Although there is no definite treatment, many children outgrow this condition, or it at least gets better as they get older. Take care and best regards.
I am a 15 year old male. a couple of days ago, i found little bubbly and itchy rashes on my neck. The next day there was more on the side of my neck. Those type of irritated rashes have also appeared on my penis, around the scrotum, and under the testes. Several rashes are also on my stomach, and on the underside of my arms. I don't know what it is, but it has a really annoying itch. I am not sure how to handle this. Do I need treatment, or does this naturally go away? Thanks a ton!
I was diagnosed with chronic hives about one year ago. I was told just take antihistamines because you may never figure out why you are breaking out. After going to an expert dermatoglist who again stated just take medicine to control the hives - I ended up on Allegra, Claritin and Doxepin. My hives seemed managable mostly at this point but in October 2009 I stopped all antihistmaines to have a food alllergy test just to see if anything turned up there.
My GP will not prescribe an antihistamine for him as he is under 1yr, is there anything with similar effects to an antihistamine that he can use?
A friend of mine has had good results with Betnovate and has suggested I ask my doctor for a prescription to help my 15 year old daughter who has small isolated areas of eczema on her ear lobes and one patch on the back of her neck. I want to avoid having to obtain prescriptions if I can (I have to wait ages for an appointment and the clinic is always so busy I end up waiting hours for a 5 minute timeslot).
not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
I'm a 21 year old male. Four weeks ago, I came down with what seemed to be a cold. I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased.
I think you are prudent in being cautius about relyiong on medication (even antihistamine) for sleep for such a young child. Maintaining a stable schedule along with good nutrition whould result in a smoothing out of her sleep/wake cycle as she matures.
Your Vet will have the best choices for congestion relief.....You don't state how old your pug is, but the excess fluids can related to many other diseases/ailments.....For example: If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat.....
Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...
He gained weight rapidly until he reached 6 months old then hardly gained even a pound since then. He is now one year old but only weighs 16.5lbs. He eats very well and is not a picky eater at all. I had horrible allergies as a child and was allergic to everything including wheat and milk. Many of my family members also have wheat and dairy allergies so I have decided not to feed him any wheat or dairy until he is 2 years old. My doctor agreed that this was a wise decision.
Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
