666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
230948 tn?1235844329 Hi uk2--I am by no means an expert on Meniere's, but I believe the MOST COMMON and basic treatment is a low-salt diet and use of a diuretic to keep the level of body fluids evened out over the day (because, traditionally at least, Meniere's is considered a type of endolymphatic hydrops and thus is affected by level of body fluids--as you may know, the inner ear is filled with fluid).
Avatar f tn I was diognosed with ACMtype 1 17 yrs ago.been coping on my own. Had to have neck surgery last year, do to stenosis. It was nessary do to compression of spinal cord and vertrabal arteries. Now do to vertigo, the ear DR diognosed me with meniere's disease. could this be one complecation of the ACM.? Neurogist and neurosurgen said ACM was mild and not to worry about it.
Avatar m tn Funnily (not really, though), when the technician was calibrating the volume for the audio test, she had to crank it up almost to the limit for me to hear the clicks in my left ear. She kept saying, "you still don't hear ANYTHING?" That actually kind of made me cheer up a bit, because it was evidence that I'm not just imagining all this--which has been suggested. But the BAER waves were normal.
Avatar n tn NO - Not 1/3 of Allergy patients have Meniere's - if you have Meniere's and Allergies then 1/3 of those patients that have both can control their Meinier's symptoms better.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar n tn Were you tested for Meniere's or was the diagnosis based on symptoms? It is possible to have the symptoms you are describing with Meniere's. Are you taking any medications for the Meniere's? Are you following up with an ENT Specialist who deals with inner ear/vestibular issues?
Avatar f tn Your question doesn't entirely make sense -- "the best alternative for meniere's"? Do you mean the best treatment? Hearing aids or implants are only potentially appropriate for later stage disease in which the patient has permanently lost significant hearing. One of the defining features of Meniere's is that the hearing loss is fluctuating (early on) -- it goes away (to a degree) and then comes back.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar n tn I have had a stuffy feeling in my right ear for over a year now, can't pop it, no issue hearing, just feels stuffy. Like before you pop your ears on a plane. I've been to 3 ENTS, as well as my primary care. Initially I was told there had probably been an ear infection and that several rounds of Flonase would empty out the remaining liquid, plus some antibiotics for good measure.
Avatar m tn Hi i have meniere's disease for 11 years. The last 5 years, no symptoms at all except for the hearing lost. Since feb 8, 2012, i have extremely loud tinnitus everyday with days of unsteadyness. I had steroid injection done feb 23, didn't work, made my tinnitus worse for a few days. I'm 36 yo, did some blood test, everything is perfect, i'm in good health.
Avatar m tn Once a month? Are you female? Have you researched migraine-associated vertigo? But this could be difficult to distinguish from Meniere's. Headache is not necessary for migraine-associated vertigo. Seen a neurologist specializing in migraine and/or dizziness? http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/menieres/menieres.html http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/central/migraine/mav.
Avatar n tn I am a 20 year old female and often experience dizziness even when I am sitting down, I am also very clumsy and sometimes hear a loud humming in one ear before I lose hearing completely for a few minutes. Overall I am in good health and don't have any conditions or illnesses - though I did have glue ear when I was younger - but this has happened me a few times. Could you maybe tell me what it could be please?
Avatar f tn I have RRMS, diagnosed 2 months ago and just started Rebif. My question is, I also have Meniere's Disease and accute osteoarthritis. There are many interacting symptoms and I never know what I'm feeling. The most aggrivating one recently is muscle knee pain so intense sometimes I need help getting up. Both knees have been replaced many years ago and the hardware has been declared flawless. What's up? I'm constantly dizzy. Is that the MS or the Meniere's?
Avatar n tn I've been preliminarilly diagnossed with Meniere's Disease. I'm 31 years old with no other health problems (other than history of alergies and asthma several years ago). The diuretics that the doctor perscribed are making me feel really bad. Short of breath, fatigue, blood red and buning eyes. Is this common? Other types of meds that should be tried instead? Any ideas? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Allergies, alone, wouldn't explain dizziness and vomiting. Allergies could affect the inner ear and cause an out-of-balance feeling, similar to what people experience during an episode of motion sickness. There's no allergy that I'm aware of that would directly cause dizziness/vomiting. You mentioned Meniere's disease, but vertigo isn't always Meniere's.
1920497 tn?1322601927 Thanks very much for your reply and the info you've given me. I really appreciate hearing from somebody in the know since this is all so new to me. Merci beaucoup de votre aide!
Avatar n tn DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing the tingling was just an anxiety attack and same for the focusing problems so I will wait a bit to see if those get better. The meniere's syndrome thing does sound a lot like what I had so I will probably go to doctor soon to see. What do they do for the tests?
Avatar f tn I was diagnoses with Meniere's Disease 8 years ago. I have levels of hearing loss in both ears. I recently saw an ENT Doctor who specializes specifically in diseases of the ears. He reviewed all old tests and disagreed with previous diagnosis. I was scheduled for many audiology tests. The results revealed I did not have Meniere's Disease. He told me I have a disease of the central nervous system and referred me back to my Neurologist for a final diagnosis.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
