666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar f tn What I think she needs is LASIX (For the fluid retention). Normally for heart failure, Lasix are prescribed along with the heart meds. and can be given 1-3 times a day depending on the severity of the congestion. Once, the fluid is off her lungs, the cough and congestion will improve greatly. I'm surprised that this has not already been prescribed! Please, call or go see your Vet (Quickly) and discuss this. She will feel much better.....Good luck and keep us posted.....
Avatar f tn t hurt to simply rule out allergy or asthma with your doc. Allergy is easiest to rule out with 1 dose of antihistamine. Benedryl works great for a test, if so do it at night makes you sleepy. Check with your doc before trying any meds since I don't know your health.
Avatar n tn Re: your being born with underdeveloped lungs I'm sure by now your lungs are in full capacity, as they would not release an infant from the incubator unless the lungs worked properly so I would not concern myself with that, Unless you have some specific lung issues or illness.
14287919 tn?1434470794 It doesn't sound like your symptoms could have to do with heart brain or lungs... If you're negative for OSA though, I'd imagine that you can breathe through your mouth and sleep okay..
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar n tn I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.
Avatar f tn The lung parenchyma is clear of infiltrates or consolidations. Tiny nonspecific granulomas are noted in both lungs, measuring up to 3 mm in the right upper lobe. The limited analysis of the abdomen shows a few simple biliary cysts. The bony framework shows a 5 mm bone island at the right humeral head. Impression: No evidence of pulmonary infectious focus.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar m tn For 4-5 years now, I've been having dry, unproductive coughs that last from September all the way to March. Due to the timing of the coughs, I came to the conclusion that it's an allergy of some sort. I've been to doctors and they would all tell me different things and prescribe cough medicine and give me inhalers. They never worked. All I really did was wait until March until it naturally ended.

4312129 tn?1352635984 My lungs collapsed so I was hooked up to a life support machine with a tube inserted into my mouth going down to what i imagine must have been my lungs. The drs.induced a coma and I was sedated for about 2 1/2 weeks, with my ar ms bound to the bed so i wouldn't pull the breathing tube out. I was hospitalized a total of 25 days. When they took all the medical tape off my face i was left with what im assuming is acne.
Avatar n tn Spiriva (titropium) is a inhaled antihistamine indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Antihistamines frequently cause dry mouth and dry sinuses (benadryl is an antihistamine). The side effect is not considered serious, but you should call your physician if it continues. A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms.
Avatar n tn DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
Avatar n tn I have a cough that I have had for five months. Exrays show lungs are fine and my Dr. can find nothing wrong. I cough up phlem that is clear, but a lot of it. I cough until I throw up or gag. Any suggestions as to what it may be.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
757137 tn?1347196453 s Life called Bromelain Sinus Ease; I use it partly for my sinuses, but also as an anti-inflammatory for bad discs. Source Naturals also makes a good one. There are many good lung decongestants along with mullein -- pleurisy root might be particularly helpful. Now, if you just wanted general anti-inflammatories, such as for arthritis or muscle aches and such, then you can move on to turmeric, MSM, ginger, sea mussel, and a host of other remedies.
Avatar m tn am 6 years not smoking and i still bring up phlegm . if you have copd and there's no dought then listen to this stay away from all antihistamine it drys your lungs and you don't want that . stay away from all antidepressents they will give you tightness of the chest . stay away from claritin and all that antihistamine family ,, and all anti inflamatory . that's if you are Moderate copd or severe . Avatar n tn Yes, but I have had heparin before and never had reactions...
Avatar n tn Hi... My name is Cloe, 48 years old and have lived in Florida since 1991. Every year ( for about 8 years) when the air gets dry & cold... Dec through Feb.I have bad allergies, sneezing, itchy eyes,SEVERE post nasal drip and asthma...( I have allergies all year but this is ridiculous) I went to my doctor who stated because I am a runner and biker these symptoms get worse with the change in the air and the effect it has on my lungs...She recommended Sudafed PE....
Avatar n tn If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat..... Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...Good luck & let us know what you find out....

Avatar f tn for the past 15 years I have had to take 1 10mg Zertec everyday due to a condition in which, under my skin, anywhere I have hair, or in between my fingers & toes, up my arms, I will become red and itch. No rash from this. Taking the Zertec seems to keep it under control. I was told my body is releaseing too much histamine. could this be true?
634733 tn?1316625992 As for coughing when changing environments then I would say it is just difficult for your lungs to adjust..I really dont have that much knoweldge in that subject to suggest a certain reason for this or what it may be from.
