Avatar n tn i've been constantly sneezing and having a stuffed up nose, no sore throat or anyhing else, for 3 days now. i am 23wks now. i tried to put up with it but i can't sleep. the pharmacist said the only thing i am allowed is Polaramine (antihistamine) tablets. upside= i can actually take it cause theyre tiny as and i cant normally swallow normal size tablets at all... downside = they make people drowsy..and i get drowsy as hell off them but need to be alert to do daily things..
568812 tn?1379165794 Anyone know if antihistamines (spelling?) work? i have hayfever and had them for that but didnt notice if it helped with fruit.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the information and I guess most of these branded meds are similar. Really bad season for allegies K, pollen count has been extreme x 2 for 2 weeks. The saline rinsing sounds like the go and I will try. I had considered filling the bath up and breathing through a snorkel or sleeping in the fridge, but the saline sounds practical.
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks 6 days pregnant and suffer allergies. I've taken mediation most my life for it, just over the counter pills. Now I've heard i shouldn't be taking anything like that so i stopped my my hayfever and allergies and draining me and driving me crazy! Can i still take them or what do i do?
Avatar f tn My mum said by that age she no longer suffered with hayfever, so does that mean that I will always suffer with hayfever?
Avatar f tn Omg I need help!! My hayfever is so bad I can't stop sneezing today. I know I can't take any form of tablet and the nasal spray makes me sick, Iv tried Vick in hot water to try and clear it a bit but nothing seems to be doing the trick. Anybody else suffering and how are you coping??
Avatar n tn Sorry it's been so long, thank you for your replies. After your suggestion of using an antihistamine I started taking Telfast early, for my hayfever which is due May/June. Well it's done the trick, I don't get a tight chest anymore or breathing problems when I visit my smoking friend. If it's not too cold I stand inside her back door with it wide open to let fresh air in while I get her dog on the lead.
5665620 tn?1373911058 Not sure about natural remedies but you can get topical hayfever relief which won't pass to your baby - nasal sprays and eye drops. There are also certain allergy tablets you can take but these are generally on a case to case basis so ask your Dr which ones you can take.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying. My M.D. did give me samples of xyzal which work really well, but the Pristiq was another story. Yesterday was my first day on it, and I woke up today gasping for air, and have had shortness of breath off and on since. My doc just told me to stop taking it and go back to sertraline, however I had already taken the pristiq, so we'll see what happens.
Avatar m tn It was given to me for nasal dryness & block {lots of boogers} sorry dont mean to be gross
Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago I noticed redness under my eyes but it was around the time I had a cold so figured it was related to this. 2 days ago I had a small bubble lump kind of like a mosquito bite under my eye lid with no other symptoms, after a short time it had gone. I then woke up yesterday morning with the same thing but again went away after a short time.
Avatar f tn I am 26 weeks pregnant. I suffer asthma only when it is the hayfever period. Now I can't sleep because of it. Everytime I take a deep breath or simply breathing I can feel the tightening in the chest. Then it makes me coughs. I have taken ASMOL (the asthma pump), it doesn't help. It only last for less than an hour. And it is 2 am. I don't know what to do. Is there any other remedy to help me for now?
Avatar f tn s eyes started getting really red and watery..my 1st thought was hayfever, so i got some over the counter antihistamine (sp??) but the problem persisted..it only happened when we were outside in the sun, so i bought sunglasses and a hat for him, which he wore outside when the sun was out...i told my health visitor at his 2 yr check about his eye problem and she arranged for him to see an ophthalolgist (sp??
Avatar n tn Every year for about the past 4 or 5 years, around August to the start of September I suffer from serious wheezing and usually end up getting a chest infection at some point. As it seems to be an annual event I am convinced that it muct be an allergy of some kind. I also feel that it must be something in my parents house as I am usually fine or at least mildly affected by it until I return home for a period of time, over the August/September period.
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!

Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar m tn NZ is particularly bad for hayfever I believe. The other thing could be the clothes you are wearing. Wool is notorious for causing allergies. I get welts from sweating no matter what I'm wearing but find if I wipe down afterwards with a cool cloth things are much better. You might need to take an anti-hystamine (claratyne is brilliant) until hayfever season is over. That is if indeed it is hayfever.
