antihistamine

Avatar f tn When this began in April of 2018, she could not hold down food or liquids for weeks. She went in for a scope and they said she has 5 ulcers at the top of her stomach opening. They aren't peptic ulcers. Her doctor said she likely developed the ulcers from taking too much Advil, because she has debilitating cramps when she's on her period. He prescribed Prilosec to reduce stomach acid production and told her to start taking tylenol instead.
Avatar n tn Tagament (cimetidine) is in a class of heartburn medications called H2 receptor blockers. These are a special type of antihistamine which are more effective in the stomach, but they do have some effect on systemic allergic reactions. I have heard of using ranitidine for this purpose more frequently. You may want to talk to her doctor about supplementing the Allegra with benadryl when she starts itching.
Avatar m tn A severe gastric reflux can also cause mouth ulcers to form due to chemical burns from gastric acids. Mouth ulcers can also form due to iron and Vit B deficiency or poor oral hygiene, or could be due to Herpes infection or could be the result of abrasion from a mal-aligned tooth or an old tooth brush. Viral and upper respiratory infections too can cause mouth ulcers. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn s kind of like a band-aid for the inside of your stomach lining. I heard about this old wives tale of drinking milk, and thought I would try it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but its worth a shot.
937868 tn?1570328281 Some people swear by DGL - Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice as an alternative treatment for ulcers and digestive issues. The thing is, if it's getting worse it sounds like you need to get this looked at by a doctor as soon as possible - even if you have to find another doc or walk into an emergency dept of a hospital.
778037 tn?1377986200 Is it common for ulcers to cause everything you eat and drink, no matter how bland, to bother your stomach? Or is this typical of something else? I have been having upper abdominal pain since January which has gotten so bad I can't eat or drink anything without getting bloated and a dull pain all over my upper abdomen. It is worse when sitting and it keeps me up at night sometimes. I have lost a pound a day for the past week because I can no longer eat without being in pain.
422924 tn?1331764319 i had a biopsy on my stomach and it tested negatve for H Pylori anyone know how long it takes for a ulcer to go away? is there any websites that tells you what to eat and not to eat for the ulcer.
Avatar m tn I developed mouth ulcer 30 yeas ago. I had them everyday for years. Then had upper GI done. They found my sphincter doesn't close all the way. Treat was Prilosec (omeprisole) for 14 day and swish with Maalox to heal. That has work up until about a month or so ago. Now they are in my throat and the said treatment doesn't seem as affected. I view it as I caught a virus and is activate when you have a gastric episode. I had an EMT look at my throat. He said he saw healing and no concerns.
Avatar m tn I recently looked online and found out that gastric ulcers can be cancerous and non cancerous i was unable to determine if mine were cancerous or not just by looking at images. I was wondering did he just say they werent cancerous so i wouldnt think about it or is he being honest?
Avatar f tn Vomiting blood (hematemesis) can occur due to various conditions, including gastric ulcers, gastritis, esophageal varices, and cancer. If you have this symptom, you should see a gastroenterologist for proper workup and management.
Avatar f tn If you have H. pylori infection (that causes hypersecretion of gastric acid and therefore ulcers) medications to lower gastric acid won't be enough but the cause itself - H. pylori has to be eradicated by antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Nexium, Aciphex, Prilosec, Pepcid, Carafate, Clidinium/CPD and Probiotics. Nothing has helped. What I think is going on is that something is hampering the bodies ability to heal itself, caused either by the inflammation from the chronic prostatitis, a chronic infection/virus or the aluminum.
Avatar n tn t have ulcers. You might want to consult Prescription for Nutritional Healing for some more info on natural healing of ulcers. Good luck.
649365 tn?1342538405 I have been experiencing chronic nausea since 2006. Finally last year after much testing they ordered a gastric emptying study believing me to have delayed gastric emptying based upon symptoms of early fullness, food coming back up on me, gastritis, acid reflux. The study came back with rapid gastric emptying. My food was leaving my stomach before I was even finished eating.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't take Nexium either without a diagnosis. Nexium suppresses stomach acid, so eventually your stomach will have to make more in order to digest protein and minerals. It becomes an ongoing chronic race between medication and the body's need to digest. But Nexium isn't for ulcers -- for an ulcer, they would give a potent antibiotic to kill the h. pylori. Nexium is for things such as IBS and GERD. The poster really needs a diagnosis in order to plan the next move.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the answer! I have been off Prilosec for two weeks now so I can get an h.pylori breath test. I'm hoping it comes back positive so that I can get an answer for this pain! Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn What I posted was for Harvoni apparently stomach acid is important for ledipasvir otherwise you won't get full effect of the Ledipasvir
Avatar f tn My cousin is throwing up blood for a month now and the doctor said she has a virus that causes ulcers. What else could this be? she had some blood work including pt/ptt but no results are back yet..
Avatar m tn The most common symptom is pain in the upper abdomen. The types of peptic ulcers include gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and esophageal ulcer. Endoscopy can aid accurate diagnosis.Acupuncture treatment is notably effective in treating peptic ulcer..
Avatar f tn Gastric cancer and small lesions are often not visible on CT scans unless the lesion is large - the larger the cancer/primary tumor, the more likely CT can identify it. That is why endoscopy is often performed to evaluate ulcers and to look for cancers via direct visualization. Have you seen a gastroenterologist yet? Have you had an endoscopy yet?
1494095 tn?1288784877 TYVM... The reason I'm concerned is they (my PAs) are telling me that my (severe) upper abdomen pain is "probably" related to the Grave's Disease, since they've checked and ruled out the liver, pancreas, ulcers, hernias, spleen, appendix, ovaries, kidneys, blatter, esaphaugus, and other gastric problems/complications, and cannot find any other possible answer... it seems to me as though they've "pawned it off" onto Grave's Disease. I will ask for a TSI.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
