Avatar n tn Hi, Itching of the arms could be due to atopic dermatitis, xerosis or dry skin and brachioradial pruritus. The latter involves itching on the upper arms, neck and shoulder blades related to sun exposure and nerve damage of the upper spine. Atopic dermatitis is also a very common cause of itching behind the knees. Pruritic rashes of the knees and elbows is commonly caused by psoriasis and dermatitis herpetiformis. Antihistamine may provide relief of the pruritus.

More so in the last 2-3. . .In July I was Hospitalized. From my neck down, I was broken out in wounds and rashes I couldn't control myself from itching and making worse. I was infected and in agony. . .Problem being, I had and have no insurance. So I was being seen by over-worked people at a local Hospital.
Avatar f tn Great question. Atopic dermatitis is the name of the condition you are mentioning and the abdomen and feet are often the most common areas effected. At one time we believed that because the grass and pollen on your lawn is the source and the feet are itchy then it is a contact allergy, in fact that is not true. The same pollens are in the air and the condition is due to inhaling the pollen or irritant.
Avatar n tn Itching with associated rash may be due to infestations with parasites (such as scabies, mites, or lice), insect bites, hives, dermatitis ( atopic dermatitis/ allergic dermatitis/ contact dermatitis) and even dry skin. On the other hand, systemic diseases that can cause itching include liver disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, and cancer. Some types of medications may also cause itching. I recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management.
Avatar n tn I have atopic dermatitis on most of my body (full legs, hands, elbows, back of arms, bottom of back). Atopic dermatitis is a dermatitis/eczema. Lots of people have it and unfortunately don't realise they have it and/or don't know how to treat it. I struggled with it for 8 years before a doctor finally gave me a punch hole biopsy, took a sample of my skin and sent it away to be examined. Extremely easy procedure (20 min) that can be done with any GP.
Avatar n tn It may also be caused by pre-existing diseases such as rosacea, lupus or atopic dermatitis. Cool compress, cortisone cream or over-the-counter antihistamine medication may also help. However, it is recommended to prevent too much sun exposure and to use sunscreens or UV protected clothing. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your dermatologist. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn Hello, I understand your concern for the beautiful child. In my opinion, this can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema. Atopic allergy is a type of immediate hypersensitivity in humans resulting from spontaneous sensitization.Diagnosis of allergies is done by skin ***** or patch tests and confirmation is done by blood tests like RAST. I would suggest that you get these tests done for the various allergens from an allergist.Treatment usually consists of avoidance of allergen.

Avoid exposure to heat , dry environments, abrasive soaps. Drink plenty of water and eat well.

Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your child symptoms are suggestive of atopic or allergic dermatitis, secondary to exposure to allergen and mediated by IgE antibodies. Her/his body is known to hypersensitive to certain things. Tagamet is advised in Active duodenal or benign gastric ulcer. Maintenance of healed duodenal ulcers. Pathological hypersecretory conditions etc.
Avatar n tn t figure out what is causing it and she has been through nine months of various immunosuppressants, hospitalized twice and several months of steroid treatments. Rituximab has been shown useful in Atopic dermatitis, that is Ige mediated. I understand everything is experimental at this point as we have gone through the whole gamut of typical treatments. I don't understand how this could help her as the biopathology is different. Isn't it?
Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of cheilitis and contact dermatitis. Firstly,It can be due to vit B deficiency. Give some vitamin B complex for some days and see if his symptoms improve. Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema("Atopic" refers to a group of diseases where there is often an inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever). Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis.
Avatar f tn It would be fair to say that the Elidel is able to suppress the atopic dermatitis. That is not the same as saying that one can use this drug indefinitely, for Elidel comes with adverse, toxic reactions of its own. I suggest that you discuss this issue with your doctor and that you request consultation for a second opinion from a Dermatologist regarding the best and safest way to proceed with management of your skin disorders at this time.
