666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn About a week ago I developed some itchy red spots on my left side just under my breast area. They itched mildly for about 5 days (nothing as intense as poison ivy) and Itch-X stopped the itching. Now they appear to be healing but have become painful. There is one larger spot on the left side of my back that started itching after the rest stopped. I've never had anything like this and am wondering what it might be. Thank you.
Avatar f tn They had given me a steroid shot and steroid pills to continue taking for about 8-10 days. Along with a antihistamine. They worked and rash was cleared up. The same rash appeared about 2 weeks later again i went to the doctor and they did the same routine (steroid and antihistamine). Cleared up again. Now 2 weeks later the same rash is back but not as severe. This time there is redness in my face as well.
Avatar n tn Hello I have the strange problem of being unable to identify what it is that is going on with my skin. I hope to get some help. I have small bumps on my back and arms. It is not Keratosis Pilaris, or anything like it. It is not acne, as touching the bumps do not hurt like acne and they don't "break out", the bumps are just there. There is no pain, itching, or swelling associated with the bumps.
Avatar m tn I am a 25 years old female. I am fair and have had flawless skin-- not even acne. I do not use make up and/or creams, soaps on my face. I have not changed my diet or bathing routine. On a Christmas cruise 2007, my Mum contracted Strep while in Germany. The doctor advised me to to also take Zyclopimine - antibiotics. Ever since, I have had a red rash that breaks out. It never fully goes away. Just when it seems to go subside, it breaks out again.
Avatar n tn I recently bought new acne medication, do you think I could be allergic to it? Or is it just because I need to drink more water or something like that?
Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
4312129 tn?1352635984 If it is an allergic reaction, antihistamine medications and removal of the allergen is usually enough while removal of irritant will also help provide relief for irritation. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked for proper evaluation. Try not to squeeze or manipulate the skin lesions to prevent secondary bacterial infection. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn About 4 days ago I used seasalt to clean my skin, because it was recommended to me for improving my acne-prone complexion. I filled water mixed with seasalt into an old aerosol can, which formerly contained perfumed body mist, and sprayed the water onto my face. I repeated this procedure several times in the last 4 days. The pimples are gone but now my whole face is irritated in the typical places where I formerly suffered my neurodermatitis, around the eyes down towards my mouth area.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure this is acne or not, but I am getting these red marks (different sizes) on my neck sporadically. Initially I thought it was pimples but there is never anything to pop or any puss. Just bright red marks that eventually fade away if left alone. I'm doing my best to leave them alone, but when I wake up and see these bright marks I just get depressed. Any ideas what these are and what could be causing them?
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar n tn I had a facial and chemical peel 5 days ago and also used and acne cream 1 day after, i now have what appears to be a chemical burn: redness, itching, swelling, rash, thick skin. This has been going on for 5 days does not seem to get better, what could I do. This discussion is related to Allergic reaction?? Chemical Burn? What to Do?.
Avatar m tn t use it much, as ophthalmologists, for its antibacterial effect but more for its ability to reduce oily secretions on the eyelid margin and some anti-inflammatory effects. I'm a little confused at your regimen. Generally if a culture was taken, a true ophthalmic antibiotic drop might be used. Perhaps you are seeing a specialist ophthalmologist who is really treating lid margin disease or acne rosacea?
Avatar f tn i have had these bumps on my inner thighs. they're sort of pimple like and can be extremely painful. i can't really pop them even though some of the bumps have "white heads" because of the pain factor. sometimes they make it hard to walk around. i'd really like to know what they are. i've gotten checked for HIV and other STD's and i'm clean. I also sometimes get these bumps around my underarm/armpit area but lower on the underarm (if that makes sense).
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar n tn You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Hi, This could be acne, allergic reaction to some substance, eczema or even herpes labialis. Whether the current lesions and the symptoms you had previously are the same cannot be said with surety. It would be best to drink plenty of water, apply a medicated lip balm with sunscreen and replace any deficient minerals and vitamins in your diet. You could take some oral antihistamine medications lie cetrizine or loratadine and see if it helps with your symptoms.
