Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
612551 tn?1450022175 As discussed in other posts, our Westie is suspected to have allergies to some protein so his diet is restricted to an aforementioned Hills Prescription Z/D diet... he liked the kibble to start and really liked the canned version. That has all passed over the three weeks or so he has been on this diet.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn I am addicted to Diet Dr Pepper which is full of caffiene (yes I knowh ow unhealthy this drink is for me) and I take them. I still get drowsy. In fact, they lay me straight out. So I don't think its going to hurt you. However, if you are in need of antihistamine, water is a good idea because it thins out mucous and helps you breath and which chest congestion and coughing.

Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. Avatar f tn Then finaly dermatologist suggested that it can be delayed alergy reaction from the bite and I received Antihistamine and corticosteroids shots and everything was gone in 15 minutes... 24 hours after the shots the swellings came back. Antihistamine pills did not help at all. Swelling on feet, and itchy red patches on my palms... struggling with that for 2-3 days i had to get shots so i can get some relief for at least 24 hours... then i went on strict food diet...
543225 tn?1214191119 Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar f tn No weight gain, tired but I take a strong antihistamine daily (side effect is fatigue) so before the antihistamine I was less tired. The doctor examined my thyroid and I don't have any lumps or abnormaliites. I had a CT scan of the throat about 6 months ago and that was normal. I don't know if the CT went as far as the thyroid but I think so. I am getting retested in 4 months. I did have a viral infection when I had my blood drawn and was thinking it could be that.
Avatar f tn We are having a hard time with our 9 year old lab’s diet. To start, she has a pretty serious food allergy – we think it is gluten or wheat. For the past 2 years, she has been on Cyclosporine and Ketaconazole and it has controlled her itching, scratching and yeast buildup. Unfortunately, it has contributed to her kidney problems. She has quickly moved to Stage 3 kidney disease. We originally attributed her failing kidney function to her food.
Avatar m tn Hello, For the last 3 months I have had terrible itching all over my body, particularly my on my stomach, thighs and bum. It started with just feeling slightly itchy and I figured it was just dry skin or a bug bite. Then it got worse to the point where I have trouble falling asleep and also wake up in the morning because of it. Physical signs are very mild.
Avatar m tn Did they give you an antihistamine to control the reaction? Steroids are an anti-inflammatory and only helps with the swelling. Antihistamines block the histamine which trigger the allergic reaction in the body. Ask your doctor if an antihistamine will work for you.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with IBS after a long list of tests for various other possible problems. I'm still working out diet and things to ease my symptoms, but I have one off the wall symptom that the doctor couldn't really explain. Generalized itching. I visited the doctor with a slightly raised rash on my side shortly after I started feeling itchy and was treated for scabies, and I went the extra step to be sure they couldn't live.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn My son is 10months old and has had eczema since he was about 5 months,he has had loads of different creams that work for a short time then it flares up again.I must also state that he has been put on a dairy free gluten free diet which has eased it but hasn't helped greatly. My GP will not prescribe an antihistamine for him as he is under 1yr, is there anything with similar effects to an antihistamine that he can use?
Avatar n tn I think in general, increasing the amount of fat and protein in your diet (preferably unsaturated fat and lean protein), portion size, and carbohydrates, you will easily put on weight/bulk up. Unless you have some kind of underlying thyroid issue, I don't see why milkshakes and a larger diet wouldn't help you out. I doubt you are suffering from malnutrition, but if you are, remember it's important to see a doctor/nutritionist to see what your nutritional deficits are. Good Luck!
612551 tn?1450022175 Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish formula is his regular diet, dry kibble with a little water (side issue, he may like a splash of chicken broth rather than water, but I have not used CB while trying to get him over the itch). A fellow dog owner and a rescue "client" like myself who is also a (human) medical technician (nurse) said that he has had success with Benadryl Topical liquid on his dogs.
Avatar f tn Our family dog is an 8.5 year old Bischon Lhasa mix & she has terrible skin problems. She gets so itchy to the point that she howls out at night & chews her skin raw. It's so sad, we have tried diet tricks and the "hot spot" spray from pet supermarket and nothing seems to help. She is sensitive to everything, food, medication etc. Does anyone know what we could do to help her? I would hate to be that itchy.
Avatar f tn He may not realize he might have eczema. This is a lifelong condition and the only real practical way to deal with eczema is through diet. Look up things like "foods not to eat with eczema" and "diet for eczema". The general consensus is that gluten and dairy should be avoided. I wish conventional doctors would tell their patients this, because not eating gluten and dairy is the only long term solution that helps me. Make sure you do the research, though.
Avatar m tn Both of these symptoms started happening at just around the same time, when I was 15. The first symptom is an itching related one. When it first started happening, I started getting incredibly itchy on my fingers/hands, feet, legs, and head. It was unbearable and so I went to the doctor to be diagnosed with "The Fifth Disease". I was told I should just take antihistamine pills and it would stop. The itching did stop, but a few days later, it came back.
Avatar n tn I started working out, losing weight, adding Gingko, Flax Seed and Fish Oil supplements to my diet, and generally taking better care of myself. However, the rash remains. I have tried Calendula, Cortisone, Clinique skin care treatments and am now using a rinse of peroxide followed by witch hazel. Any other suggestions you can offer to treat this and get this nasty looking thing off my body? Thanks.
