antihistamine

666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn Its safe to take claritin or Allegra. I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn After going to an expert dermatoglist who again stated just take medicine to control the hives - I ended up on Allegra, Claritin and Doxepin. My hives seemed managable mostly at this point but in October 2009 I stopped all antihistmaines to have a food alllergy test just to see if anything turned up there. Nothing did but I noticed my hives really improved after stopping all the antihistamines. Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl.
Avatar m tn I have allergy and take antihistamine Claritin. Is it immune suppressive? I did some researches but not much talking about it. Hep b inactive status.
Avatar m tn It does sound like allergies to me. Try an antihistamine such as Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra, or Chlor-Trimeton. You can try Benedryl but it tends to cause drowsiness more than the others I mentioned.
Avatar m tn If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID. I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes. Since starting Claritin-D, I no longer have that problem unless it wears off before I go to bed.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
1274661 tn?1301868321 Hi....this was a major problem for me too....my Dr told me to take an antihistamine and I take the drowsey one b4 bed and it helps me sleep if that pill did not help the pmd I take a non drowsey one during the day....I have not had to take the daily one....it is working well for me.
Avatar f tn ) ) I would suggest that you try Zyrtec instead of the claritin. It is a stronger medicine. My allergist says that claritin might as well be a water pill for all it does for you. It also doesn't have the drowzy side effects you mentioned with the other. Even the generic is more expensive than the others though. I would also recommend sinus rinses if you aren't doing them already.
Avatar n tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.
Avatar f tn Pretty much, yyou can't take anything with a decongestant. Normal, regular antihistamine should be fine.
Avatar m tn Hello, These itchy red bumps can be due to allergic contact dermatitis to the shoes or stasis dermatitis. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn About six months ago I started having this tickle in my throat that led to coughing fits. I have been into the Dr numberous times. He tried Doubling up Claritin and Tesslin Pearls, next it was omeprazole, honey with cinnamon, and a strong antihistamine, and then a breathing test (I don’t have asthma) and now an inhaler. Once in a while for a few hours I don’t have a cough, but it always returns with a vengeance. Day or night it never stops for long.

Avatar f tn Regular sudafed not the sudafed pe..or any kind of antihistamine like claritin. Other than that really nothing. I went threw that a few weeks ago. As long as ur not in ur first trimester.
Avatar f tn I mostly take OTC pills, like Dimetane, Claritin. Sprays either Nasarel or NasalCrom for my allergy and some other antihistamine that the doctor told to have which I really don't remember the name of the pills cuz I stopped taking it. Regarding the sore throat it have been like two weeks now and still did fn't go. Should I really go and visit the doctor?
Avatar n tn You can get Meclizine over the counter to take, it should help with the dizziness, but it may make you very tired so do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it will affect you. Also you can get an antihistamine, such as Claritin or Zyrtec to clear up the fluid. If you are concerned, you should see a doctor.
