antihistamine

666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn s an antihistamine. Sometimes weaning down on the dose can help with that occurrence of increased allergy symptoms upon discontinuation. How long has it been since your son stopped taking it? Here's some very basic information on zyrtec in kids https://www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/zyrtec-child-allergies#talk-with-your-doctor Flonase is a bit different. I assume you were also buying that over the counter?
Avatar f tn Xanax (alprazolam) is highly addictive. Please, don't abuse it or you'll end up in the benzo hell like I have...
Avatar f tn So, therapy lies in avoiding the allergen and anti-histamines. So, wean yourself of the steroids and if the present antihistamines are not very effective you can consult your doctor for long acting ones. Regards.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?

Avatar f tn I am not thinking of addiction, but your dependence on an aid to help you sleep and weaning yourself to natural sleep.
1710955 tn?1309446473 I'm in pain all the time.
Avatar n tn Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
1485729 tn?1288732472 After a few months, maybe you can start weaning her off of the steroids....And give her an antihistamine as needed....They (The steroids) are quite dangerous, given longterm.....Good luck and let us know how things are going......
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Wear lose comfortable clothes. Wash all your linen and towels etc with a disinfectant solution. Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.
1386506 tn?1279613689 Two questions: are you still on it, which it seems you are since you say you're still weaning off, and are these symptoms new to you or are they the original symptoms that led to go on Paxil in the first place? Don't be frightened, but Paxil is probably the most problematic med to quit taking, with snris running second.
Avatar f tn They had given me a steroid shot and steroid pills to continue taking for about 8-10 days. Along with a antihistamine. They worked and rash was cleared up. The same rash appeared about 2 weeks later again i went to the doctor and they did the same routine (steroid and antihistamine). Cleared up again. Now 2 weeks later the same rash is back but not as severe. This time there is redness in my face as well.
Avatar f tn OK Day 3 of cutting down by a 3rd. There were more times than not today that I could have gone and got 5 pills out of the bottle, but I didn't. I stuck to 10. That seems like an awful lot still. I was able to function though, only cutting back some, but still didn't feel well. I've been tired and didn't stray too far from a bathroom early this morning. I am taking enough to keep the body aches away...I just feel like I've hit a wall.
Avatar m tn I have a sort-a alcohol rollercoaster over the past 30 years, but over the past 10 months, since filing for divorce, I've been mostly in high gear with maybe 2-3 non-drinking days between (I won't call them necessarily "sober"). Over the past month or two I've been on a steady 12-pack clip, almost always avoiding the hard stuff beside the occasional shot. Up until that stretch, I was continuing to exercise daily for 45 minutes.
Avatar f tn I understand your pain...I have 2 small children ( 9 months and 2 1/2 years) who rely solely on me as a caretaker - my husband works long hours so they are my responsibility probably 20 out of 24 hours a day....and those 4 he helps as much as he can but not a ton.
Avatar n tn t think to much of it because I was spending a lot of time in the sun. In the last month the patches have become pink and have spread to my chest and my upper thighs. When I'm sweating or really hot they really flare up and are very red and noticeable. They aren't itchy and are very small. It seems to be concentrated around my belly button which seems to stay pink most of the day, but sometimes fades to white, but much more pale than my natural skin color.
Avatar m tn On day three I went to the doctor who ruled out shingles, and suggested I get tested for STDs and try an antihistamine. Tomorrow I will get tested for STDs, though likelihood that I will test positive for anything is extremely low. Antihistamines have done nothing.Tonight much of my scalp is sore, blotchy and sensitive, and the pain behind my ears and back of my neck persists. I’m worried. Do these symptoms fit any known of profile of possible ailments?
1210716 tn?1297620883 So my daughter is practically 5 months old now and is starting to take herself off breastmilk. She actually turns away from me when I go to feed her. I've started pumping and giving her milk in a bottle during the day so I can monitor how much she is drinking, and figure out "why" she wants to drink because alot of the time with me if she did breastfeed it would only be for like 1 to 2 minutes before she would pull away.
