first try get valium or temazepam, they are great for first few weeks , if a doctor wont give that to you, buy an antihistamine like phenergan or polaramine they are used mainly for alergy suffers but they make you VERY sleepy and they are non addicting and after taking them for a week the effects will wear off, you can get them over the counter

Now, Vistaril is an antiemetic (helps with nausea) and antihistamine (helps with allergies). It also causes drowsiness. I guess if you wanted to, you could become addicted to it, but i highly doubt it. Ive never heard of anyone being addicted to it. It gives you a severe dry mouth, and makes you really sleepy.

I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it

I started taking Valium recently and noticed that the bottle warned not to consume grapefruit of the juice at all while taking this medication. This was a issue for me because I drink hansen's natural cane sugar soda with real grapefruit extract and I had to give that up, but I really didn't want to so I read up on what it will do. Tonight I was cleaning out my med bag to ensure no more norco was lurking in there. I recall purging all the Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin, Clonadine, Valium, and oxycontin last time I went ct. To my delight, I found that I clung on to one bottle of hydroxyxine. I immediately thought "score", I'm sleeping tonight. I just can't remember if I had any drowsiness the next day or not after taking them. They were rx'd after my last major surgery so I could sleep.

Doc gave me Vistaril which worked really well. It is an antihistamine and used for nausea. Did have some days anxiety was very high but it is doable. Good luck!!

My dr gave me hydroxyzine instead of Valium. Into a antihistamine. Supposed to help you sleep and relax although it doesnt do much for me. Valium didn't either, but there are alternatives.

My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.

I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.

Not sure if I shared with u when I went to the ER this summer I was told to take an antihistamine along with pain meds, and found that I sleep better in taking them...non drowsy for the day and the reg drowsy formula b4 bed....

I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.

I recently was on MS Contin (long acting morphine) and my PCP allowed me to take Valium at HS with the MS Contin. Obviously Valium and Xanax are similar. She had me take it first in the day time a few times when my husband was home to see how it would affect me. I did not have a problem with the two medications. So I think it is a probability that you can take them together but keep in mind that they both depress the respiratory system.

I don't take valium, clonazapam and he won't refill it early I've tried. I was looking at the Thomas recipe and it says to take valium but I can't. I don't have an rx for it and it makes my mouth hurt, I don't know if that's a side effect or I'm just weird but I just don't like it. Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?

I always have edema in my fingers and my ankles...most likely from food and with the valium it goes away. Really? What is going on?

Yes I worked for a dr who does procedures and stuff in office and he gives' valum, toroidal, phenegren and brings in an anesthesiologist to do kinda like a twilight sedation to make sure that the patients are comfortable and experience as little pain as possible it also helps cut the cost for the patient to do it that way

in the morning and the same in the evening and did this for about two months. I read about valium and realized i did not want to become addicted and stopped taking them daily two weeks ago. I went 4 or 5 days without any and then my heart started racing, i started to panic and took 2.m.g. then went a few days and felt ok but then had to go to court and was horribly nervous and took another 2 m.g. This was 4 days ago. Yesterday i took about 0.5 mg (half a m.g).
