antihistamine

612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
1399363 tn?1462342610 I would check with your physician, and pharmacist because I think there now may be compounds available with give the desired effect without the side effects. You could also address the tachycardia issue and eliminate that which would allow you to take any antihistamines with experiencing the side effects.
565430 tn?1272695820 Hi rello.. it could be the antihistamine.. it gives me the jitters.. from everything I have read about those you should not take it for more then 3 weeks without a break. a lil vics would help with the sinuses.. as for sleep maybe a nice warm bath and good book with some sleepy-time tea.. Congrats on 557 days !!
666921 tn?1254990618 I agree with Patsy about asking doctor - just wanted to pass this info. on - antihistamine supressess the allergic reaction - so though I read it on another forum - it still makes sense to me to try to avoid taking it - anyway asking the doc. about any 'drugs' is always a good idea.
Avatar m tn s been 25 minutes since I took antihistamine. Not sure if the 20 minutes helped or if the antihistamine helped. But I am breathing ok again and my other allergies went away mostly too. My stomach still feels like I swallows heavy sand. The nausea is gone too. Just stomach cramping now.
Avatar n tn Hello, I don't know if you ever found the answer for this but for anyone coming across this desloratadine could potentially be problematic for pregnancy. There have been animal studies showing it can be harmful to the fetus and could potentially influence the mother to be not as fit to bear the child. There haven't been any human studies done but this is warned against. Reference: https://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/desloratadine.
Avatar n tn For about 22years now, I have had this chronic unyielding, head to toe itch with no rash. The only thing that helps is a daily antihistamine. There is no rash or real explanation on what the true trigger is. Doctors think it's in my head. I take a daily allergy pill and have for 22 years.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
681148 tn?1437661591 It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. Because I really don't want to give her long term steroids, I decided to only give her the 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec that the vet told me to give her before. I try to wait 'til I just have to give it to her, because I know that people can build up a tolerance to antihistamines, so I figure that animals can, too.
Avatar n tn and he looked at me like I was nuts (or maybe he thought I was fishing for more drugs) I have suffered, and suffered is the word, with PND my entire life (50 now) and the last few years it has gotten much worse. Been thru all the allergy testing and meds and nothing helps. I recently ruptured a disk in my back and again noticed my PND went away for the 2 months I was on that Hydrocodone. Absolutely totally went away! In spite of the back pain I was in heaven!
Avatar f tn Hi Cici888, I just finished reading your comments. My suggestion is to go to your family doctor immediately. You say you also have asthma. So do I. This is something you need to take care of immediately. Also, you shouldn't just put yourself on Zyrtec. You should be seen by your doctor. Tell your doctor what symptoms you are having, for example, sneezing, runny rose and coughing. You say, " how can I do the skin prick test?" You can't do it yourself.
Avatar f tn Benadryl is also completely safe although it knocks me out like a sleeping pill. Which is helpful if you need a sleeping pill!
Avatar f tn Look at all the ingredients in the supplement causing the problem and eliminate them one by one.
Avatar m tn I visited the doctor with a slightly raised rash on my side shortly after I started feeling itchy and was treated for scabies, and I went the extra step to be sure they couldn't live. At this point I don't believe I ever had scabies for many reasons. The rash faded away eventually but the itching never has, and I'm talking 6 months here. Since then I have not had any raised rashes, however, I have had hives appear randomly.
338416 tn?1420045702 Mosquito bites were the worst - the area would swell up and hurt. The swelling was all out of proportion to the injury. The doctor said it was angioedema, caused by injury, but couldn't find a cause. All that has gone away since I've been taking Betaseron. Well, here's my theory. I'm allergic to Copaxone - we know that now. But I take an allergy pill twice a day, and I've done so since I've been in this town. What if the allergy was causing me to have angioedema?
Avatar n tn The only thing that changed was that she has recently started taking the contraceptive pill, around the time the rashes started appearing, but after a long time browsing the web and looking through warnings that come in the packets, we have found no link between these rashes and the contraceptive pill, she has also moved from the dual hormone pill to a single hormone one as a precaution but the rashes still seem to appear every 3 days and last about a day.
Avatar n tn Hi all, My inner labia has been itchy for about 4 months on and off. Last month I had it really bad....this time not as bad. I'm on the pill and my problem occures on the 3rd/4th day of taking the pill....Sometimes it starts after sex, sometimes it has started after using certain soaps which maybe has dried it out and I used to trim down there but now have stop because i thought i was trimming too close to the labia. Before my boyfriend has had red dots appear on himself....
612551 tn?1450022175 Our little guy likes potato and it is helping me get yeast fighting medication in his tummy... and he enjoys the potato so much when the teaspoon full is eaten he keeps going and finishes the kibble lying underneath.
Avatar m tn I used Hydrocortisone Cream USP 2.5% and a All Day Allergy pill 10 mg. The pill seems to be helping as I feel better. But I can't help scratching it. It is on my arms, legs, back, upper chest, and ears. But I am still not sure if it is getting better. Please help ASAP!
1274661 tn?1301868321 my Dr told me to take an antihistamine and I take the drowsey one b4 bed and it helps me sleep if that pill did not help the pmd I take a non drowsey one during the day....I have not had to take the daily one....it is working well for me.
Avatar n tn If it is fluid in your ear, he may give you a prescription for an antihistamine, Meclizine, antibiotics if it is an infection, and possibly a water pill for the fluid. the diarrhea could be caused by a number of things. If it persists, I would see a doctor. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn Normally for heart failure, Lasix are prescribed along with the heart meds. and can be given 1-3 times a day depending on the severity of the congestion. Once, the fluid is off her lungs, the cough and congestion will improve greatly. I'm surprised that this has not already been prescribed! Please, call or go see your Vet (Quickly) and discuss this. She will feel much better.....Good luck and keep us posted.....
Avatar f tn Next time when itching start take an antihistamine pill (like Benadryl). If this will help you, it means you have physical urticaria (allergy to heat in your case).
