Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and sunburn

antihistamine

Avatar m tn I do take a number of supplements including Centrum, CoQ10, hyaluronic acid, fish oil, an aspirin and Lipitor. Only Lipitor has been long term and that does not appear to increase sunburn sensitivity (though rashes are possible). Is this a normal part of aging or are there other factors involved?
Avatar f tn I believe it started maybe 6 months ago. It was a tiny cluster of 4 or 5 blister looking spots little bigger than a pen tip. Thought it was from work and elastic gloves grinding in my wrist. Shortly after it grew to red and about 1" down and covered left to right. It then moved to both wrists. After maybe a month of trying to not agrivate it at work it started to go away. Then it blew up covering both my inner forearms. With either small red spots or raise red blotches all over.
Avatar f tn I have this red rough and itchy patches on my face on and off. It will get better and seem to go away only to come back. I have tried to see if I was allergic to something but I cant figure it out. It itches and burns and nothing I put on it helps. The doc put me on antibiotics for 10 days and it helped alittle but came back. My skin will flake after it starts to get better and then it will start all over. I thought maybe rosacea but I am not sure.
Avatar n tn Just noticed that my husbands armpits are very red and the skin is peeling, kinda like a sunburn, it causes him no pain and no itching and I was just wondering if anyone knows what this could be. Thanks.
Avatar n tn After severall years of travelling, on my most recent vacation I ended up getting a pretty bad sunburn which ended up being sun poisioning and left me with swelling of the face, i got a cortizone shot and took some prednisone and i was fine, the other day I was outside for just a short period of time and I woke up with 2 odd looking red spots the size of a dime one on my forehead the other on my neck the one on my neck was very itchy the one on my forehead was not, I'm wondering if this is a
Avatar m tn ve spent a long time researching, and going from dermatologist to dermatologist, having UV allergen therapy and such and the only things I find help are Benadryl or another antihistamine, and gradual exposure.
Avatar m tn You would still need to consult your doctor about the associated symptoms you are having and to rule out a bacterial or fungal infection and whether you need a course of antibiotics or other medications. Let us know about how you are doing and post us about what your doctor advises. Regards.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
3064890 tn?1340721493 I first thought it was a sunburn, but I felt no pain. Then a week gone by and it became very itchy and it began to spread alittle down my chest. Its kinda like a big red birthmark. I took benedryl, so that kinda rules out allergies. When they arent very red it sorta turns brownish.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. I am taking Lortab or Percocet depending on the level of pain. I have no history of allergies. The burning is constant and feels like a sunburn and the itching I am trying to control with Benadryl cream. It doesn't appear to be spreading but it is not going away either.
Avatar m tn t seem like a likely diagnosis for my problem because the spots are pale and white like your skin looks after peeling from a sunburn. It also blotches up in big areas like Vitiligo but not as drastic of a pigment loss and after being in the sun the areas of concern still show reaction to sunlight and tan up but then lose color rapidly after tan has set. Unlike the sunburn spots they never fade away though.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar n tn The skin on both of my hands is peeling. I've never had this happen to me before. I did not get sunburn, I haven't used any new soaps or taken any new medications or anything like that, and I can't figure out what could be causing it. I always use lotion on my hands several times a day.
Avatar f tn I went to the beach the other day, and had gotten a very bad sunburn (in the outline of my two-piece bathing suit-oops) and two days later, I woke up with a rash in the areas of my body which were not burnt, which include under my chin, around my chest (where my bathing suit covered) and also behind my knees. It is speckled, and has become very itchy and is spreading as the day goes on. What is it, and how do I make it go away!? HELP!
Avatar f tn This afternoon I noticed a rash on both of my hips and the top of one of my legs. Several hours later, the rash has progressed across my stomach and almost down to both knees and now I also have places on my arms, back and neck. At first the rash didn't itch or have any other symptom, but now as it spreads it has an intense itch and there is a buring degree with it.
Avatar n tn I have had a rash on the top of my feet for about 4 months now and have been to the doctor multiple times. The rash itches, is a sunburn color of red, has made my skin dry and cracked, and does not spread. I have used athlete foot creams, Ertaczo (sertaconazole nitrate cream, %), and Clobetasol Propionate USP, .05%. I have tried wearing different shoes rule out being allergic to my shoes as well. I don't know what else to try. Please help.
Avatar n tn i showed a fried of mine he said it could be problem, cos before i had bad bad sunburn on my shoulder and chest and they would bleed and some wart from the burn but this was 6 year before. and these just started. i would say progression rate is about little bit every month. i add photo i hope you can help me.
Avatar n tn The following day his skin in that and the surrounding areas (nose, browline) will be dry and flaking off, and takes months to heal. We've tried slathering it with lots of different things: Aveeno lotion, Neosporin, Vaseline and Aquaphor; nothing seems to help speed the process. This just seems terribly unnatural, and so unlike his prior viral rashes that I find it difficult to believe they're connected. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar n tn After an hour indoors, it would cool down and be normal again. I dont think its sunburn. This occurs only in the morning and aftenoon, but at night-time when its cooler I'm completely fine. I went and did some tests with allergy specialists, and turns out i was allergic to grass, pollen, dust..
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn m not concerned about the little water blisters but the big blister are quite scary and keep getting bigger and bigger (one of them popped and had so much liquid in it my whole leg was drenched), also my left ankle and foot(where the biggest blister is) have become incredibly swollen and slightly discolored. It hurts like the dickens to stand or bend my legs and hurts the most after I've been laying down and go to stand up.
Avatar n tn Hi I have been experiencing extreme itchiness on both hands(on the back of my hand not the palms) and arms especially my righ arm up to half my fore -arm.it started 4 days ago and they look red and swollen .the affected area starts from above the thumb joint towards my wrists and forearms.(the fingers are spared) it has burning sensation and itches mostly during daytime(not at night). I had a much milder similar experience 3 years ago after walking on the beach for 2 hours.
