Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?

Avatar m tn I get hives and itch all over too. It usually comes from stress or reaction from something you are taking. Try to think of any thing new you have started eating or drinking different. Try taking a Benadryl at night or when you start itching. Becareful they do make you sleepy. I take one every night. Good luck, I hope I helped some.

Avatar f tn But, I think there might have been pressure on the ear. She told me to take an antihistamine and I did but I still got it back in 4 months and again in 3 months. I'll definitely look into the ENT. I have a good one in our area.
257333 tn?1212444612 You did not spell "antihistamine" or "Claritin" correctly, and your post contained several punctuation errors. Just being an honest (and rude) American. In answer to your question, some people who do frequent public speaking are sometimes given small doses of a beta blocker or other similar medication, which can blunt the symptoms that you mention. Here is an article that mentions their use: http://www.drhallowell.com/resources/articles/public_speaking.
Avatar n tn Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
960785 tn?1248645096 Hydroxyzine ie atarax is a antihistamine and mild sedative too and may be preffered in your case as a night dose, with calamine application externally.
Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
Avatar n tn I've had a rash appear over night initially on my thighs and on my elbows and then the next day spread to my arms, hands, and armpits as well. I have no clue to the cause of this rash. The rash appears red and blotchy with a constant itch that is lessened by taking an allergy medication.
568429 tn?1216770861 You should take a nutritional diet and some iron supplements and multivitamins. Exercise and adequate sleep will also help in treating fatigue. Regards and pls keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn I would also suggest maybe doing relaxing yoga poses or moves to de-stress and calm down before bed. WHen my mind is racing, try and writeI down what I need to do the next day. It might keep your mind from racing. If nothing works i would contact your doctor and see what they say. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Wear lose comfortable clothes. Wash all your linen and towels etc with a disinfectant solution. Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor few days back but he prescribed me the same antihistamine which I have been taking and it hasn’t helped much. I have been conscious of what I eat and have had different categories of food just to know if one of them is causing it butto no avail.
