612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn His internal organs have all come forward and are pushing on his lungs and heart. He is otherwise healthy, runs, jumps eats drinks and eliminates. I am just nervous about the prednisone. Thanks for any advice you might have.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar n tn Spiriva (titropium) is a inhaled antihistamine indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Antihistamines frequently cause dry mouth and dry sinuses (benadryl is an antihistamine). The side effect is not considered serious, but you should call your physician if it continues. A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor for my hands and he gave me high powered topical cream and it was after using it for a couple days that the condition appeared on my feet. I cannot take any antihistamine or steroids orally because I am nursing and now have been using steroid cream for over 2 months. The condition will improve with the creams but still won't go away completely. Is there anything else I can try?

Avatar f tn Good evening~ My sister is having this same type of reaction (x2 days) with it seeming to worsen a little with benadryl and prednisone (steroids). Avatar m tn The response of the eye to steroids tells nothing about the same person responding to oral or nasal steroids. The response to the eye is often dose related and steroid specific.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have several autoimmune endocrine diseases and allergies. I am considering adding activated Quercetin with Bromelain to my regimen, but I've read that it can increase the body's metabolism of steroids. I currently take hydrocortisone and florinef for Addison's Disease. Is it safe to start Quercetin? The recent tree pollen increase seems to have really exacerbated many of my endocrine symptoms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar f tn The standard treatment of hives is oral antihistaminics and topical steroids. Oral antihistaminics relieve itching and you can get them over the counter but some of them may cause drowsiness and moreover since your child is just 2 years old, hence it should be taken under a medical guidance. Topical steroids is available by prescription from a dermatologist.
Avatar m tn If the symptoms are not subsiding by antihistaminics, then you need to consult a dermatologist and get steroids prescribed and other possibilities ruled out. Also check out these watery blisters for herpes sores if they scab over. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. In some cases, a weak steroid may be used (e.g.
Avatar f tn You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.Application of topical steroids like dermacort will also help. 643681 tn?1223407715 In addition to the medicines which you doctor has prescribed(mainly nasal decongestants, antibiotics, steroids etc) avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. Eat simply of wholesome food. Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. 681148 tn?1437661591 It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. Because I really don't want to give her long term steroids, I decided to only give her the 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec that the vet told me to give her before. I try to wait 'til I just have to give it to her, because I know that people can build up a tolerance to antihistamines, so I figure that animals can, too.

Avatar n tn I have had a problem with hives all over my body for a month or more now. My hands start to itch first, then the bottom of my feet, then my scalp even the inside of my mouth itches sometimes. I'm a hairdresser and suspect it could be the chemicals and shampoos and products. Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble.
