antihistamine and singing

I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it

Im 24 weeks today and i sung my little girl a song and she kicked the whole time:) after not kicking all day:)....im so happy i could cry...

My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.

I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.

I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.

Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?

Last night...I look on FaceBook and find videos downloaded of me singing those songs. So awesome to have those moments captured! The kicker is...I was feeling a whole lotta liquid courage by the time I sang Let's Get It On. OMG...cracked me up. I thought I was doing sooo good! LOL! It is growing quickly and my trachea is moved and my voice is hoarse. My MD says I have no other option besides surgery and I need to do it quickly. 1.How big a deal is this? 2. I went through all of the tests and have had heartburn and GERD for over 10 years. I sing professionally and I am concerned that the surgery will impact my ability to sing. Any singers out there that have already had this procedure?

Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.

I only go to karaoke in places where people go to have the fun of singing and are very forgiving if you make a bobble. I avoid the places where the audience and other singers are highly competitive and judgmental, preferring, instead, a place where everyone feels welcome and free to sing, whether doing a "great job," or not. Please don't continue to exist in your ever-narrowing world of silence. I would have less loss now if I had started wearing hearing aids earlier.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . So in 20+6 and I sing in my church choir. We just finished singing and I'm dizzy and I'm cramping. I can't sit out because I'm the Pastor's granddaughter. Should I be concerned? Please comment!!

They had given me a steroid shot and steroid pills to continue taking for about 8-10 days. Along with a antihistamine. They worked and rash was cleared up. The same rash appeared about 2 weeks later again i went to the doctor and they did the same routine (steroid and antihistamine). Cleared up again. Now 2 weeks later the same rash is back but not as severe. This time there is redness in my face as well.

Today I was sitting down, working on her scrap book, and singing aloud to musical tunes. While I was singing, and for a bit afterward, she barely kicked at all. I hope she was just lulled to sleep, but I'm also worried I might have deprived her of oxygen. Opinions?

Hi, I was a professional singer guitarist for over 20 years but I have had to give it up because of a voice/muscle tension problem. . It started over 3 years ago when going towards the microphone my chest and neck muscles would tense, making it hard to get enough breath to sing. Before and immediately afterwards I could sing perfectly! After about 2 years it started affecting my talking voice and last December i eventually decided to give the singing a break.

Singing is a sign of joy, and true joy is on the inside, you cant take a joy pill, some people say they take happy pills there is no such thing.

I think that MS has only had an indirect effect on my singing..and I shall try and go back to singing lessons but I do not know if it affects the muscles in your throat. I would ask your neuro next time you go as it may be nothing to do with MS and maybe you need to see a throat specialist who could look at your vocal chords? Keep the music within you and I hope that you will find your voice again..it is a gift to be able to sing.
