Antihistamine and reflux

Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and reflux

antihistamine

Avatar n tn It can be even easier than that. You could alway ask your doc to try free samples of Nasal Sprays for rhinitis, sinusitis. If it works than you know what it is. Then you need to figure out why it happens like if it is allergy or sinusitis and treat it more specifically if you want to. Once way to rule in allergy is antihistamine like Benedryl. If you take an antihistamine and it stops it's more likely rhinitis.
1274661 tn?1301868321 I already take zyrtec and rhinocort for allergies on top of all of the other meds I take for pain and reflux. I am seeing an allergist in August and I am going back to my pcp tomorrow for the millionth time. Any advice?
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks, I have been taking antihistamine and a nasal cortisone spray but it doesn't really seem to do much to be honest...
Avatar n tn s to have excessive mucus, is there something over the counter that can cut it down? My baby is a chug and she is miserable at night. She licks and licks just air. It is like she has this stuff on her tongue and she can't get rid of it. She only weighs 9 pounds so I have to be careful what I give her. Thanks for any ideas.
7205189 tn?1447794738 Another point to mention is with EDS we also tend to produce too much histamines which can cause PND which in turn causes reflux....so sometimes an antihistamine may help....talk to your Dr.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar n tn I have had a lot of mucus build-up when I wake up in the middle of the night and find it very difficult to return to sleep. I keep trying to swallow what's caught over and over. Also, after having all this stuff draining into my stomach all night it feels upset the next morning. I broke my leg and was given Hydrocodone pills for a few months and guess what zero problems of any kind with nasal drip at night or stomach problems during the day.
Avatar n tn I had a cold for a week and a half but now my nose is still stuffed up i also feel like there is something stuck in my throat. when i breath in through my nose and i try to deep breath through my mouth and I'm able to do it but the sensation is still there. I went to the doctor thinking it was asthma but she said I get air fine.
Avatar f tn I am on prescription Omeprozole and have been for some time. It does a great job keeping heartburn and acid reflux away. However I have learned that I can't have dairy too close to going to bed. If I have ice cream or milk and lay down within an hour or two I wake up coughing and choking on acidic liquid. So I make sure I don't have dairy. Simple. However, the last couple of nights it's been happening anyways.
Avatar f tn Have had this very irritable, barking cough for over a week, which requires constant lubrication and a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not really coughing up phlegm. My throat also feels very inflamed. I've lost my appetite since aswell. I take lots of vitamin c and antihistamine and have even tried a prentative inhaler.
Avatar m tn Hello, For as long as I can remember, every time i eat beans, it makes me feel like i have something stuck in my throat, but i have no problem breathing it just feels like something is there and it lasts for a couple of hours. It makes me feel like i have to burp, but it is hard to do so. I looked it up and fond little, but it may be a mid case of acid reflux but i don't know...help?
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn For the last 6 months i have had this tickle in the back of my throat.. it come out of nowhere and don't stop until i throw up from coughing..it'll last for a couple weeks and then nothing for the next couple weeks...not being able to stand it anymore..i went to en ENT..he scoped me and said i have acid reflux..huh?? i don't ever feel like heart burn or any chestpain..the pills don't help and it's still weeks bothering me and weeks not...HELP !
Avatar n tn You need to see an allergist of gain control of your allergies first. Alergists also treat asthma and treating acid reflux is often a part of that so they should cover all your bases. Take care and feel better.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn My eyes will frequently get red in the inside of the lids. There is no discharge, just sleep in the eyes occasionally. They are somewhat dry, have always been dry actually. No itching. This is re-occurring. I had noticed maybe a year ago that it would happen, then get a little better, then get a little worse. Then, it didn't happen again for quite a while(4 or 5 months?) and now recently, it hit again with inside of eyelids very red, and I started to have some pain too.
Avatar n tn The other thing is to keep up your intake of Vitamin C, Pepcid does nothing for colds, it is a stomach acid inhibitor and treats Acid Reflux, Gerd or heartburn, has nothing to do with Colds or Flu, You can take Advil for muscle aches due to colds, it is an anti-inflamatory for muscles.
Avatar m tn I always had PND which can cause reflux....any type.....and all the antibiotics can cause more reflux symptoms to flare....make sure you take a probiotic to replace all the good bacteria killed off with the antibacterial meds. Wish I knew more to help you....just know what worked for me. Good luck.
1890554 tn?1322678048 Tinkelman, I certainly will take care of the dust in my house and try a mask for protection…. So Celestamine NS and Singulair are not an antihistamine?
Avatar f tn Reverted back to my former cardiologist and she feels as though Acid Reflux/GERD is what is causing a majority of my symptoms and put me on Omeprazole. Recent followup and she has changed the rx to Pantoprazole, I believe it is supposed to be longer lasting. She mentioned also wanting to do another stress test as well. Personally don't want to endure more radiation as I am scanned all the time for one reason or another in trying to provide a dx for all my problems.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
