Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and paracetamol

antihistamine

Avatar f tn I am 11 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with a congested head with pains in my ears and temples and a full head for 6 weeks. Paracetamol dont work and i am unable to take anything else. I have been to the doctors today and they cannot give me anything because of the pregnancy. He did say that my nasal passage was very red and inflamed. Is there anything i can do to sort the prblem out with my nasal passage which in turn will hopefully clear the congestion up.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar f tn Wow I've never seen Paracetamol mentioned on here, it's always Tylenol lol. I'm from the UK and its all I take. Paracetamol is safe in pregnancy but they do advise to take the minimal effective dose and for the shortest time.
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?

Avatar m tn I had a headache and I took 2 Paracetamol pills. After 2,5 hours I drank a beer. Is this ok or should I have any consequenses?
Avatar n tn s most likely flu or something else. Just take paracetamol for the aches and pains and try some vapour rub to help clear congestion. You say that you were coughing up green stuff though? I would keep an eye on that, if you're congested and coughing up green stuff that's usually sign of infection because it should be cloudy white or clear otherwise. If it continues go see your doctor.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn You should be able to get that in UK. Stops the cough and is great on a sore throat and pregnancy safe. Be careful if you have bee allergies though. Manuka has a lot more healing properties than other varieties of honey and is therefore a little more expensive but totally worth having a jar in the cupboard.
Avatar f tn "Daily doses over 4g can cause acute toxitity [toxicity]..." This is for normal, healthy people who rarely take acetominophen (tylenol, Paracetamol). The toxicity is much lower in people who have used it often or abused it. In the US, they are making changes (which will take forever) to lower the amount of tylenol in meds, and also to reduce the "maximum" recommended amount. But it will take a while -- drugs are big business.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
5290804 tn?1366180951 hi ive been takeing soluable paracodal for over 20yrs now, i take 8 aday, 2 at a time, each tablet contains 500mg of paracetamol and 8mg codeine.
Avatar n tn Panadeine Forte is a combination of 30mg codeine and 500mg of paracetamol, and due to the higher dose of codeine, requires a prescription. For long term use on a daily basis, other medication should be considered. For occasional use to treat flare-ups in pain, a person may be allowed to take up to 8 capsules a day, which is 240mg of codeine and 4gms of paracetamol. The danger with combination drugs that contain paracetamol is that paracetamol can be fatal in large enough doses.
Avatar f tn re feverish, you could use and keep cold damp towel to your forehead and keep taking your Paracetamol. Rest and sleep is best and take plenty of fluids. Calamansi juice but not too sugary ( sugar is bad for colds) and Chicken soup is great to clear the chest. Don't over wrap yourself as this will even raise up your temperature. Is Oil of Oregano available in the Phil. ? You could take those for 3-4 days.. If your temp. goes up to 39.5 , its better to see your Doctor.
Avatar f tn It can come from sleeping on your side because of the pressure on your jaw.
726324 tn?1324074610 Im 6 weeks 4 days and i have a horrible cold, congestion and sore throat and of course im tired all the time! 4943237 tn?1428991095 Have you tried heat/holding a warm compress against your ear? It might help a bit. I get pain in my eyes/jaw and hands etc due to ms and don't find any over the counter drugs helpful either. Maybe it would be worth giving karryon55's suggestion a go?
