666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn What kind were you taking?
Avatar f tn Adderall - Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Catapres (clonidine) - Catapres lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax (widen)and your heart to beat more slowly and easily.
Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn I personally take a claritin everyday. I have seasonal allergies and pet dander makes my eyes and face really itchy. My Dr OKed it and said its totally safe. Hope this helps.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.
Avatar f tn It typically presents itself during childhood, and is characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity, as well as forgetfulness, poor impulse control or impulsivity, and distractibility. ADHD is currently considered to be a persistent and chronic condition for which no medical cure is available, although medication can be prescribed. The estimated contribution of non genetic factors to the contribution of all cases of ADHD is 20 percent.
351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
Avatar n tn Research has shown that behavioral interventions alone and in conjunction with medication can be effective in treatment of hyperactivity. If you decide to try this, make sure that you find a therapist/behavior analyst who has experience treating ADHD with individuals similar to your son.
Avatar f tn A couple would be hyperactivity and an inability to focus for any length of time. But these traits are not necessarily ADD. Sometimes it just has to do with a developmental stage.
605458 tn?1539228808 I see energy as how much energy you have to do the things in your life and restlessness or hyperactivity as something less goal oriented and/or an uncontrollable urge to keep moving. High energy could be a good thing, but restlessness or hyperactivity is not.
Avatar m tn im hypothyroid and have conflicting symptoms (tremors, coldness, morning cold sweats,) all causing anxiety which is probably the root of some symptoms. The docs started me on .75 mcg Synthroid which made me go hyper and to the ER. I've got a new endo and she suspects that I'm having adrenal hyperactivity to the meds so she's testing my adrenal levels. She's probably going to start me up again on synthroid very low dose.
Avatar n tn I started taking synthroid on May 2 and was suppose to have a period around the 19th of May but never did and here it is June 9th. The strange thing is that periodically I feel like I am going to start, (symptoms that I usually get before I do) but I guess I just wish I knew if this was normal or not.
Avatar f tn Free T3, Free T4, an TPO antibodies and unless we see nodules and US is fine.If you are indeed HYPER THYROID /how hyperthyroid are you, and is it documented autoimmune? Great that it appears it's a goiter and not nodular......and you need eval with Endocrinologist. Foods will make zero difference.Just eat healthy whole foods.
Avatar n tn Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADD. It is not a narcotic although there are those who mistreat it for its affects. I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine for urine test and should not be affected by it at all.
Avatar n tn The hyperactivity is in the brain, acting more as an physcological effect rather than an physical effect.
Avatar n tn try clariton oral, nasal crom and allaway(eyes) or just try the clariton and alaway first and if needed add the nasalceom. I have severe allergies to cats and dogs, pollen etc. and it works for me.
Avatar m tn He has improved greatly with his Hyperactivity and is now able to control it himself therefore we took him off the medication. Now we are having other issues with him forgeting and losing things that most of us wouldn't. He will forget his homework at school or forget to turn it in after it is completed. Once in awhile this happening I wouldn't be too concerned but this happens on an almost daily basis.
Avatar n tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Wear lose comfortable clothes. Wash all your linen and towels etc with a disinfectant solution. Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.
Avatar f tn They had given me a steroid shot and steroid pills to continue taking for about 8-10 days. Along with a antihistamine. They worked and rash was cleared up. The same rash appeared about 2 weeks later again i went to the doctor and they did the same routine (steroid and antihistamine). Cleared up again. Now 2 weeks later the same rash is back but not as severe. This time there is redness in my face as well.
Avatar f tn He is very hard to control and deal with and I see the stress and havoc it causes. So I wonder if it is something that is avoidable. Note that I'm pregnant,I wonder if it is caused by some sort of deficiency or is there anything I could do to increase the chances of NOT having a baby/child affected by this.
