Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram of the neck

angiogram

Avatar n tn I waited on my fiancé during his angiogram, 1 hour of waiting and 3 hours of supervising from the nurses then home we went
Avatar n tn the symptoms of headache and so on resolve, and the blood vessels return to normal. An angiogram is necessary to make the diagnosis, but additional testing that could be used in follow-up include a CT angiogram and a transcranial doppler (TCD) which is less invasive.
Avatar n tn I have to agree with Ed on this one. The symptoms he is describing are indusive of heart disease and the angiogram is a better look at the arteries from the inside. With carotid arteries becoming blocked there is more dizziness, visual disturbances and confusion. Like the symptoms of a stroke. Is there any particular reason the doctors are treating this as Lymes Disease?
Avatar n tn In Aug of 2007 I had an angiogram and found out I had 5 seperate narrowings of 30 and 40 percent in my LAD and RCA. For about a month I went on a strict diet and walked a few miles every day. Then depression set in and I went on a year long ( on and off , not every week ) cocaine and depression binge. I stopped eating low fat and ate whatever I wanted at times and other times I was restrained. 2 weeks ago I went for a CT angiogram and today I got the news that my blockages are now 70 and 50.
Avatar n tn A bit of a vague report, but a follow up with the cardiologist to discuss the results should make things clearer. If you have no follow up, it might be an idea to make one. The Left anterior descending "shows plaquing" is not very detailed is it. To what extent is it plaquing. There is a blockage of 70-80% in the diagonal one, which comes off the LAD.
Avatar m tn had angiogram done back in april of 2014, everything looked good.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar f tn If a artery is completely clogged on the right side of neck that supplies blood to the brain, can anything be done for this condition
1318351 tn?1313381421 With regards to spine problems, yes they can make pains seem to appear from anywhere in the body. However, it is still a good thing to have the angiogram to be on the safe side.
Avatar f tn When he comes round his Headache is worse, his Nystagmus is really bad, he is very Dizzy and Uncoordinated and the tunnel sounds last for awhile. I just took him in for an Angiogram where they had him move his head to the point of when he feels his symptoms the Angiogram turned out okay, but he pass out. The Dr. said he kept call my husbands name with no response and he was rubbing his knuckles on his chest with no response at first then he came round.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
Avatar f tn It showed the complete anatomy of the heart vessels that included any soft plaque within the lining of the vessel. The ct software scored the soft plaque and evaluated the risk of a rupture. It also discloses any hard plaque within the lumen (vessel channel). The cath views the lumen for plaque, and has the ability to determine gradient pressures of chambers and vessels...The cath can also be equiped with ultra sound to view the anatomy of the vessel.
Avatar n tn If needed, they can also measure the pressures in the valves during the angiogram. If you feel you have symptoms of blocked arteries, you should see your doctor.
Avatar f tn has ordered is a CT angiogram to check arteries, etc. I am very worried about the exposure of radiation that this test gives off. I also had a CTA of the Aortic Arch and Head back in 2009 when my doctor was worried about a carotid bruit that he kept hearing in my right neck. That test proved ok and it was determined that the bruit was coming from my mitral valve regurgitation that was radiating sound up to the carotids.
Avatar n tn Now, a different cardiologist has him scheduled for an angiogram next week, with the possiblity of inserting a stent on the lift side. When we mentioned the first doctor's concern, the current doctor said there was no cause for concern because "there are actually four carotids and two can do the job". At this point, we are very confused. One recommended doing nothing two years ago, and the second acts as if it's no big deal.
Avatar f tn Since your son gets headaches after running, it is important to rule out clots in his carotids or jugular vein. An angiogram of the neck blood vessels and a duplex ultrasound is done to rule this out. Other than this it can be a normal anatomical variation. However, a child should not get headaches on running—this does indicate a compromised blood flow to brain. Please consult your child's pediatrician for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar n tn t know the results of that untill next week. The cath test is very good, no more pain except the insertion of the IV, and with the meds they give you, you do not really remember much. Even though I was awake, I still do not remember much and it was over before I knew it. the worst part in my case, is if you have any kind of back problem , having to stay on my back and keeping the leg straight for 6 or more hourse was the real problem.
Avatar m tn Angina related to the throat is an acute inflammation of the mucous membranes found in the throat, which can infect the tonsils with streptococci. This is most often diagnosed in young individuals. Angina can be treated with antibiotics and penicillin. The pain related to the throat could be due to the thyroid gland, and my doctor always checks for any inflammation or growth on the throat. It could be related to cancer, etc.
Avatar n tn Except for a minor pricking from the injection of painkiller at the top of the leg I felt nothing whatever, watched the arteries moving on the screen and talked to the doctor while he was maneuvring around them.. As it happened, a stent was put in but again, I felt nothing. I was in truth a bit uncomfortable afterwards when the anesthetic (which is only given to avoid discomfort at the entry point) wore off but I asked for a painkiller and calmed down. Go ahead. Have no fear.
Avatar n tn A normal nuclear stress test will not show blood flow through the carotid arteries of the neck. In general, a nuclear stress test accuracy rate is 85% to 90% for CAD in your heart. For the carotid arteries, the first test is usually an ultrasound, then an MRI or CT scan and the final test would be an angiogram.
Avatar n tn It showed 4 of 5 bypasses were in tact and other had gotten some collateral circultaion. 2nd cardiologist want to get the films themselves and states the pictures themseves. the report on the one gone bad is very vague. I thought was was only one way to read an angiogram to determine if a stent is needed. I get chest pain 10-20 times a day. with 3-10 nitro on average. My stroll is now down to a shuffle, just trying to ward of the chest pain.
Avatar m tn Have they done a CT or angiogram to make sure the grafts are working? I had shortness of breath and dizziness 3 months after my triple bypass and the surgeon refused to believe anything was wrong. He used his magic stethascope which obviously did an ECG, echo, angiogram and nuclear perfusion scan all in one. His stethascope said everything is doing great. I went to a different hospital and they did an angiogram. It revealed that the Lima was open, but the 2 veins were totally collapsed.
1145423 tn?1261404857 Dear us2002, Many thanks for posting the question through this forum. The universal Full form of TIA = Transient Ischaemic Attack. But in your question, i am able to understand that TIA = Traumatic Intracranial Aneurysm. I hope i am right in this case. The main cause is direct or indirect injury to the sensitive region. The "Y" which you have mentioned is called as "Circle of Willis".The radiologists and the neurosurgeons will be able to find that "Y" better.
Avatar n tn I did have some tests done earlier in the year. One was a speical Cardio CT Angiogram and showed some narrowing of one artery, but not blocked. I have to watch my diet and stop smoking. Recently my face has gotten red more frequently. Any exposure to sunlight or being out in the heat makes it worse. Can this be related to any of the meds I am taking? Appreciate any help.
