Angiogram of aneurysm

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram of aneurysm

angiogram

Avatar f tn They found a 4mm carotid aneurysm in my scan last week. I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar n tn In general, when an aneurysm is found and the size determined on MRA, sometimes (depending on the quality of the MRA and the appearance of the aneurysm on it) another confirmatory test such as a CT angiogram or cerebral angiogram may need to be done to confirm the presence of the aneurysm, confirm its size, and to exclude the presence of additional aneurysms too small to be seen on MRA.
Avatar m tn Sometimes a dye may be injected into a vein to highlight blood flow in your arteries and veins, CT angiogram and provide additional detail regarding appearance of brain aneurysm. MRI can create detailed images of your brain and show aneurysm’s location. Hope this helps. Take care.
359574 tn?1328360424 We only stayed a total of 5 hours at the hospital start to finish. My aneurysm is confirmed, and the interventional neuroradiologist who did the test said it of a shape that can't be coiled, but must be clipped, if it needs to be fixed. I will call my neurosurgeon Monday for a follow-0up appointment. Meanwhile, I get to take it easy for a week while the collagen seal on my femoral artery gets nice and solid.
Avatar f tn My son in law had a bleeding aneurysm they put in a shunt and took him to angiogram. They couldn't find where it was. I know even a clotted aneurysm should be coiled.
Avatar f tn I just had an angiogram on 9/2/16. I relate with some of you. I have a small hard hematoma, the size of a marble, and it has been bothering me. I get pain in my calf, front part of leg, and part of the buttocks. I am in pain and used ice to help. I will be calling my doctor Minday and see if I can get an ultra sound. I was told that after 5 days I ca go back to normal and it has not happen yet. I hope everyone who posted before me has had full recovery.
359574 tn?1328360424 He would like for me to have a cerebral angiogram so he can see a better picture of my 5mm aneurysm that was on the MRA taken by my neurologist. Then he will help me decide whether it should be watched or treated, if so how, and whether it could be the cause of my eye pain. The neuro-ophth sticks by her dx of TN and doesn't think the aneurysm is related since it isn't where it could touch the trigeminal nerve branches in the cavernous sinus.
Avatar m tn We were transferred down to the pediatric ICU where he had an MRI that showed a stroke on the top right part of his brain (very close to the midline) Followed by an angiogram through his femarol artery that showed a aneurysm. It was coiled as well as some of the surrounding vessels and besides a blood clot in his leg where the angiogram was inserted (which took about 72 hours to resolve, for blood flow to fully reach his toes and return to normal) there have been no other side effects.
Avatar n tn A growing aneursym is expected to grow 0.05 cm every 6-12 months. An aneurysm that is greater than 5.0 cm size is time to consider surgery, and your aneurysm may be in that range at the current time. I don't know of any advantage to have a stress prior to an CT angiogram! Does your doctor have an opinion? .
Avatar n tn Hi, sorry to hear of your aneurysm. I also had an MRI/MRA and found a small aneurysm. When I went and saw a neurosurgeon they had me do an angiogram as well. Its considered the gold standard in finding aneurysms. I would suggest finding out your family history and see if anyone else has had them. If there is a familial connection the medical community can take different more aggressive tactics. I was rather surprised to find out a family member had had an annie.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms are indeed unusual but I disagree with your doctors dismissing the aneurysm and pituitary tumor as the cause of the headaches completely. This is because that the pain- sensitive structures of the head would include the blood vessels, and the meninges ( the protective coating of the brain ) which can come in contact with the pituitary tumor. Another possibility for your headaches is a complex form of migraine, which will also explain the sensory symptoms.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old female, just had a 4 vessel cerebral angiogram and was diagnosed with a 2mm aneurysm on the right side of the brain. I was told I would have to be followed every 2 years to make sure it didn't grow. Is this the normal time span for follow up? Also..I am very active, I run quite a bit and lift weights. Is this still safe for me to do? I'm not sure what, if any, effects there would be. Any advice would be helpful.
Avatar n tn Well, if they meant the left vetricle of the brain (and not the heart), then he had a bleed in his brain, where one of the blood vessels will burst, and it will cause his symptoms. The angiogram is a type of X-ray where they can see how well the blood is circulating in various parts of the body. See, a bleed like his comes from an aneurysm, whch is where a vessel will clog up and swell, until it reaches its breaking point.
Avatar f tn Hello! If it were me or my mother, I'd say no and would just go for a heart catheterization/ angiogram instead. The stress test is to see if you have an cardiac changes when your heart is "challenged" by a workout. An angiogram or heart cath is the next step in the process. The stress tests can be either done by a treadmill or chemical induction but they carry the risk of making a heart attack happen or worsen it if it already in progress....
Avatar n tn i have an aneurysm 1.5mm in the canvernous portion of my ICA. I have been getting horrible headaches, pain behind my eye, and difficulty with my vision, hard to focus on something. really lightheaded when i do. could this be my aneurysm or just typical headaches....
4186651 tn?1357830957 My husband was diagnosed during a cerebral angiogram. He was being treated for an aneurysm.
Avatar m tn For a while now i have had a strong pulsing in my stomach. If I lie down on my back and put my hand on my stomach I can feel a very strong, pounding pulse. I am a very thin person, around 116 pounds and 5'11 tall. I searched this on google and read about aortic aneurysm. I also have pain in that area, especially if i push down even a little bit. I had an ultrasound of my abdomen in november and it was normal. I am still worried about this but my doctor told what i'm feeling is normal.
848718 tn?1257138801 And it turned out that his assistant scheduled me for the wrong procedure, and I essentially had a CT version of the MRA instead of the whole invasive kind of angiogram with catheters, etc. The neurosurgeon then said that on the CT (with contrast to make it a CTA), it appeared that what I had was an "infundibulum" on the "posterior communicating artery.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a 4mm cerebral aneurysm and just went for angiogram ct and I am waiting the results I am a nervous wreck. I was also diagnosed with chiari and cervical disc disease . How do they treat cerebral aneurysms ?
847433 tn?1243009652 I had an MRI done about a month before the surgery along with a cerebral angiogram about a week after the MRI. I do have a picture of the aneurysms from the MRI which I could show you but I don't think I can attach it to this message. The MRI was very clear showing the aneurysms but the angiogram was 100% better, it showed them in a 3D kind of way. If you would like me to send you the MRI pictures, let me know where to send them and I would be happy to do it.
Avatar f tn An MRA is magnetic and has no xray or radiation involved. A CT angiogram has the radiation involved of about 50-100 xrays. And a regular angiogram has the equivalent radiation of 500+ xrays. He is going to do the least invasive right now which is the MRA. If he finds a definite change he will then go to the conventional angiogram that goes up through a catheter in the groin. I actually had a carotid aneurysm which resulted in two mini strokes I didnt even know I had and Im only 52.
Avatar n tn The doctor is going to inject some kind of glue? in the aneurysm tomorrow. Because he had so much pain in his groin after having the first procedure, I did not want them to go in his other side but they did anyway. I don't know what the outcome will be. I am worried if his artery will be weak and if it will heal properly. How is your husband? Did he have a good outcome?
Avatar m tn there is no saccular aneurysm identified (Characterization as aneurysm on prior MR angiogram of the head in September 2016 was likely second to decreased to spatial resolution on MR versus CT). The emergency room doctor only said that mine is thick and do not know size of mm from CTA brain. He suggested that I should see my neurosurgeon to analyze on it. Can anyone tell me what does it means by the report. Thank you. I will have an appointment to see my neurosurgeon on July 24th.

Avatar m tn We recommend for this patient to undergo coiling of the intradural segment of the left vertebral artery, in order to exclude the dissecting aneurysm from circulation. Effectively they will block off the left vertebral artery and just left the right vertebral artery supply blood to the brain.. does that sound bad?
Avatar n tn I had a ct scan and they found out I have an aneurysm of the aorta it was 2.8cm and not even 2 months later it was 3.2 again it was measured by ct scan then 2mths later I had an ultra sound and the tech. said it was at 3.48cm but she could not tell me how the measurements could be different. She said the ct scan measurments are different than the ultra sound can anyone tell me how they are different ? My doctors said I have a fast growing aneurysm and I need to be tested every 2 or 3 months.
