Will a MRI or CT without contrast pick up a brain aneurysm? I have no family history of this condition.. I am worried going for a MRA today just to calm my nerves without contrast can anyone help ?
In general, when an aneurysm is found and the size determined on MRA, sometimes (depending on the quality of the MRA and the appearance of the aneurysm on it) another confirmatory test such as a CT angiogram or cerebral angiogram may need to be done to confirm the presence of the aneurysm, confirm its size, and to exclude the presence of additional aneurysms too small to be seen on MRA.
He was admitted in hospital due to fever where aneurysm may have potentially ruptured,seized for 3 hours, lot of blood in his brain, went through coiling surgery, had 2 angioplasty to control cerebral vasospasm. As of today he is moving his right part of the body, left side, off the ventilator(breathing by himself) still cannot track us with eyes, not sure if he can hear....Any insights or expert prognosis is appreciated....
05 cm every 6-12 months. An aneurysm that is greater than 5.0 cm size is time to consider surgery, and your aneurysm may be in that range at the current time. I don't know of any advantage to have a stress prior to an CT angiogram! Does your doctor have an opinion? .

If it were me or my mother, I'd say no and would just go for a heart catheterization/ angiogram instead. The stress test is to see if you have an cardiac changes when your heart is "challenged" by a workout. An angiogram or heart cath is the next step in the process. The stress tests can be either done by a treadmill or chemical induction but they carry the risk of making a heart attack happen or worsen it if it already in progress....
For a while now i have had a strong pulsing in my stomach. If I lie down on my back and put my hand on my stomach I can feel a very strong, pounding pulse. I am a very thin person, around 116 pounds and 5'11 tall. I searched this on google and read about aortic aneurysm. I also have pain in that area, especially if i push down even a little bit. I had an ultrasound of my abdomen in november and it was normal. I am still worried about this but my doctor told what i'm feeling is normal.
i have an aneurysm 1.5mm in the canvernous portion of my ICA. I have been getting horrible headaches, pain behind my eye, and difficulty with my vision, hard to focus on something. really lightheaded when i do. could this be my aneurysm or just typical headaches....
Welcome to the small aneurysm club. I had an MRA for some headaches I was having back in late June. I got a call a few hours later that scared the heck out of me. They told me I had a 3 mm aneurysm. I fretted for several weeks before I got in to see a neuro. I had already researched surgeries, etc. figuring its a ticking time bomb and surgery was required. To my surprise the neuro really put me at ease and recommended the exact thing as your doc: recheck it in 12 months.
We recommend for this patient to undergo coiling of the intradural segment of the left vertebral artery, in order to exclude the dissecting aneurysm from circulation.
Effectively they will block off the left vertebral artery and just left the right vertebral artery supply blood to the brain.. does that sound bad?
I just felt it and it feels like it is pulsating as my pulse would. My dentist did put me on an antibiotic for one week when I discovered node 2 weeks ago. The swelling did not go down. He then referred me to an oral surgeon who has referred me as stated above to ENT. Concerned and confused. Thanks for any input.
