Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram brain mri

angiogram

Avatar n tn I had an MRI and an MRA and they discovered I have a 3-4mm aneurysm in the left middle cerebral artery. It showed I have a dominant left Pica. I also have Abnormal Dilatation of the left middle cerebral artery region. The called the aneurysm a Bulbous expansion of the trifurcation on the left middle cerebral artery. I also had some Sino-Inflammatory or Sino-Polyposis changes. Other than that they didn't find anything wrong.
Avatar m tn Sometimes a dye may be injected into a vein to highlight blood flow in your arteries and veins, CT angiogram and provide additional detail regarding appearance of brain aneurysm. MRI can create detailed images of your brain and show aneurysm’s location. Hope this helps. Take care.
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
Avatar m tn In which case, you would need an angiogram (an x ray of the brain where the blood vessels will light up after injecting contrast material) Discuss with your doctors all the options and possibilities. Regards...
Avatar f tn during one episode where they did a brain MRI. They informed me that I had a 5mm cavernous hemangioma in the left frontal lobe of my brain but that it was of no concern and not at all related, that I had likely had it since birth. Over the last 8 months I have seen numerous specialists, had a massive amount of tests..many repeated by various doctors, and more medication thrown at me than I know what to do with. No one has answers or a diagnosis.
649926 tn?1297657780 I have had 2 relapses on copaxone and now my MRI of the brain is stable for 6 months but my symptoms are not so my Dr. is sending me for a cerebral angiogram and wants to re-evaluate the M.S diagnosis. Could all of these symptoms / tests be one disease and if not what are your thoughts like why the angiogram? Please help, I feel like I am back at ground zero. Thank you for your time and input.
Avatar n tn , MRI, Cerebral angiogram, Blood work, ambulatory EEG which showed muscle spasms in several of my blood vessels in the brain. The doctor has put me on Depokote 3-4 weeks ago and I am still having siezure like symptoms (which I failed to mention in the beginning). I am ready to call the Fox network and ask them to put this situation on "House" so they can fiqure it out! Is anyone having anything similiar happening?
Avatar n tn My recent MRI of my brain found mild T2 and Flair signal changes in the perivenricular white matter and subcortical white matter compatible with minimal chronic microvascular ischemic disease. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn They found a 4mm carotid aneurysm in my scan last week. I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar f tn my Dad is 67 years old and had memory loss ,slurred speech due to two little block in brain and blockage in internal carotid artery . The doppler study and MRI A angiogram showed 100% blockage of left internal carotid artery. The right artery had 30% 40% of block. His colateral blood is normal. he had diabeties and Bp for the past 1 1/2 years. he got blood supply through right arteries..
847433 tn?1243009652 Hi, Was wondering if anyone can describe what an aneurysm looks like on an MRI with contrast. I had a brain mri w/wo contrast and there is a rather strange pic, not been read yet by radiologist but neurologist said when I asked said something about it being a collection of contrast material. Looks like a round ball with another sort semi round "something" attached and the vascular areas around it are lit up as well. Cant describe very well.
Avatar f tn Dx - L Vision loss, HA, Pituitary Abnormality, Dilated R pupil, Hypothyroid, Brain MRI = Orbit MRI = MRA Does him writing Pituitary Abnormality on this mean I showed signs of one ??
848718 tn?1257138801 What kind of angiogram are you having? Is it the non-invasive type via MRI or CT? Or is it the super invasive kind where they put a catheter in an artery in your groin and go all the way up to your brain? My layman's opinion is that *I* would probably do the MRI/CT variety for a family history, but I wouldn't want to do the invasive type without some symptoms or something showing up on a scan to make my doctors believe I really might have one. Good luck!!
Avatar m tn It affects my sleep and everyday life. Last year around June/July I had a brain MRI/MRA done and it was completely normal. Could an aneurysm appear since then to now, in that amount of time? Please help I'm tired of this dang thing, and my fears are always that when something is wrong with me that its really bad, don't know why.
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
Avatar f tn Hello - For approximately 18 months now I have suffered with an increasingly painful head/neckache. At the 4-6 month point, when ignoring it or advil was no longer taking care of the pain I went to a neurologist. I was sent for an MRI of the neck and one of the brain. The neck MRI showed "changes" above and below a previous fusion and discectomy at C5-6. The neurologist mentioned "gliosis" which despite much googling I still don't understand.
Avatar n tn 2011 she got admitted in hospital for neuro stroke, now dr suggested to take mri angiogram of brain.these are findings of mri angiogram of brain 1)Lacunar infarcts in bilateral subcortical frontal, parietal & occipital white matter.2)Acute infarct in left ACA territory.3)Diffuse cerebral & cerebellar atrophy.4)Occluded right ICA with reformation of MCA by PCOM.5)Atheromatous disease in left M1 with reduced calibre of M2/M3 and focal narrowing at M2.
Avatar f tn MRI revealed bleed from cavernous angioma in brain stem, left penducle, cerebellum. Angiogram showed bleeding stopped but had surgery to have it removed. There were signs it had bled before. I had never been very coordinated and had also suffered a number of serious knocks on the head including a concussion as a kid. All seemed well post surgery until I went back to work six months later.
Avatar n tn i'm just a consumer like you, but also with AI diseases. do you also have MS? that can also effect eyes such as optic nerve which would cause visual field test "failure' as well as demylination on brain MRI. (I forget what CNS stuff lupus causes)I think youre supposed to see a neuro-ophomolagist if you haven't yet seen one; theyll concentrate on things the retinal specialist wont that could be causing some of your vision trouble.
Avatar n tn If those were normal, then I would focus mostly on the optic nerve -but usually neuro-ophthalmologists can find almost any optic nerve disorder. Make sure she has a Brain MRI to look for any central problem in the visual pathway or visual cortex. Sorry, no other thoughts.
Avatar f tn there may be lack of coordination and balance, muscle weakness of face, arm, leg, numbness or tingling on one side of body etc. Diagnosis is usually based on history. Your clinician may ask for brain MRI, MR angiogram, echo, carotid duplex, and ecg. The management would be according to the diagnosis. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn I also would like to know what kind of questions I should ask when I do see him, any suggestions would be appreciated. It has took longer than I thought to get over having the angiogram. Also would the angiogram show up anything except what is in the blood vessels?
Avatar m tn A small glioma in the cerebral cortex may not cause much symptoms. However, the brain stem is a very small and tight structure in the brain, that even small lesions can cause symptoms and may indeed be a cause of concern. I suggest that you discus with your doctors about additional tests that can determine the nature of this lesion. A Magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) may be done to rule out a possible hemangioma or AV malformation.
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Cerebral or brain aneurysm is an abnormal widening a brain blood vessel at its weakened area. This may occur as a congenital (present since birth, familial) or may occur later in life due to injury, birth defects, or neurological disorder and it is life-threatening. Most serious consequence is stroke that may occur if this bursts in the brain.
