Angiogram brain bleed

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram brain bleed

angiogram

Avatar m tn There must have been some kind of vessel weakness/damage for it to bleed. Perhaps your best plan would be to keep your blood pressure in the normal range, or better still, low normal. Any other vessels heading for the same problem would have a much greater chance to recover. Maybe a reason they didn't intervene is that the bleed was too too deep in the brain and the artery was too small for stenting etc ?
Avatar n tn I also had an MRI/MRA and found a small aneurysm. When I went and saw a neurosurgeon they had me do an angiogram as well. Its considered the gold standard in finding aneurysms. I would suggest finding out your family history and see if anyone else has had them. If there is a familial connection the medical community can take different more aggressive tactics. I was rather surprised to find out a family member had had an annie.
Avatar f tn They found a 4mm carotid aneurysm in my scan last week. I am to get a CT Angiogram Wed and then see the neurosurgeon in August. I am on coumadin due to a blood clot in my sagittal sinus (reason why they found the aneurysm) from 2009. Was just wondering if someone has been through this process before and what I need to expect.
Avatar f tn He was going to suggest waiting 6 months for another MRI and I said that was too long. He has no idea or explanation why I am having the symptoms in my face and head. I find it really hard to believe that this is not at all somehow related. There is never one single moment of my day where there is not pain, aching, headache, burning or tingling/shocking going on in the left side of my face and head.
Avatar n tn Well, if they meant the left vetricle of the brain (and not the heart), then he had a bleed in his brain, where one of the blood vessels will burst, and it will cause his symptoms. The angiogram is a type of X-ray where they can see how well the blood is circulating in various parts of the body. See, a bleed like his comes from an aneurysm, whch is where a vessel will clog up and swell, until it reaches its breaking point.
359574 tn?1328360424 Thanks. The only thing it could do on its own would be if a ridiculously lucky piece of plaque would lodge inside of it and start a clot that filled it in. In fact, that is what the interventional radiologists do on purpose when they are able to coil them--form a platinum clot inside the aneurysm so blood can no longer go inside of it and cause it to expand. Dissolving would be a bad thing. That's a hole and a brain bleed.
Avatar n tn ABOUT 3 WEEKS I HAD A BRAIN BLEED DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY. THREE DAYS AGO I WOKE UP WITH A SPOT [FLOATING] IN MY LEFT EYE WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Avatar f tn father had a brain bleed on may 6 2009, did surgery removed bleed and right bone flap, does not open eyes on command or any other voice commands. does open eyes sometimes, for VERY short period of time, has very good movement on the right side but no movement on left side. dr. said he had seizuers, they now treat with medication. no seizures are present. will dad "wake up" more as time goes on? or will he stay like that?
Avatar f tn Symptoms of subdural hemorrhage have a slower onset than those of epidural hemorrhages because the lower pressure veins bleed more slowly than arteries. Thus, signs and symptoms may show up within 24 hours but can be delayed as much as 2 weeks It is diagnosed by a complete history and physical examination along with CT brain. A cranial MRI or cerebral angiogram can also show hematomas. So please consult a neurologist and get yourself properly evaluated.
607172 tn?1241299030 Its been one year now,and today I was told by my gamma doctor that there was no change at all,its on my left temprol lobe with many feeders,I was told last year, that many people get 80 % shut down in the first year..me nothing.mine is 3.2 cm in size and never had a bleed, what are the chances now, after a year of gamma, and no change ,could it still have a bleed?
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
525386 tn?1215488307 I am a 19 year old girl that had an AVM bleed in my brain last year. Since this happened I have heard stories of how other AVMs happened. The most frequent way others find out they have one is by having bad headaches and slower short term memory. An AVM is a tangle of blood vessles that someone is born with (a lot of people live there whole life with and don't know it). It can occur anywhere in the body where blood vessels are. Ihave heard mainly the brain or spinal cord.
Avatar f tn MRI revealed bleed from cavernous angioma in brain stem, left penducle, cerebellum. Angiogram showed bleeding stopped but had surgery to have it removed. There were signs it had bled before. I had never been very coordinated and had also suffered a number of serious knocks on the head including a concussion as a kid. All seemed well post surgery until I went back to work six months later.
Avatar f tn A clot loosened in an artery in his brain and it started to bleed. They had to emergency stent it and fill the aneurysm with tiny metal coils. I have the philosophy to seek medical advice with such things. Of course, not every headache needs reporting, but it's just the timing after a procedure where they've been pushing a catheter through your arteries.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn However, the gold standard in evaluating the blood supply of the brain is through 4 vessel angiogram which is an invasive procedure. It will all depend on what your doctor is considering, and he or she will be contented with the accuracy of the MRA. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn ve never posted on a site. My 81yr old Dad suffered a massive brain bleed on Tues of last week (one week today). He is in a coma although he opened one eye (the right one) but not on command. He fails all neurological tests except he withdraws to pain. Drs keep telling me NO HOPE for any type of recovery. Yesterday I was called in and told they are having trouble keeping blood pressure up yet heart rate is very high. Drs said its either due to infection or kidney failure.
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
Avatar m tn I HAVE AN UNRUPTURED 5 MM BRAIN ANEURYSM WHICH APPEARED FOLLOWING A ROUTINE MRA SCAN FOLLOWING OPEN HEAD BRAIN SURGERY TO REMOVE A NON CANCEROUS TUMOUR ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO THE LAST SCAN 15 MONTHS SHOWED NOTHING - MY NEUROSURGEON WANTS ME TO HAVE A DIGITAL SUBTRACTION ANGIOGRAM TO CARRY OUT A MORE DETAILED EVALUATION. HOW DANGEROUS IS THIS TYPE OF SCAN. I KNOW IT HAS IN RISKS IN RELATION TO STROKES ETC., I AM 63 YEARS OF AGE.
Avatar m tn Hi all, this is so amazing, to read about others symptom s being exactly like yours. I can tell you that I also had headaches on one side of my head behind the eye and sensitivity to light. I had an MRI and they found a small aneurysm 3mm. This is the size they decide to leave alone. But I had a Carotid Angiogram two days ago to see exactly if it poses a risk and am awaiting the results.
Avatar f tn my Dad is 67 years old and had memory loss ,slurred speech due to two little block in brain and blockage in internal carotid artery . The doppler study and MRI A angiogram showed 100% blockage of left internal carotid artery. The right artery had 30% 40% of block. His colateral blood is normal. he had diabeties and Bp for the past 1 1/2 years. he got blood supply through right arteries..
Avatar f tn Cranial Nerve Palsy. I was ordered an angiogram of the Brain. Anyone able to provide me feedback on the diagnosis and or the CTA. Angiogram?
Avatar f tn I concieved in early june, but mid june i was hospitalized for a brainstroke that caused my brain to bleed. during that time they ran numerous tests xray mri and angiogram with die. I also had me on a lot of pain medication while I was in the hospital and until I just found out. I took morphine percocets fentyal vicodin and nuerontin. I was taken off all that but still on my.psych meds, adderall lithium abilify hydroxyzine and kolonopin my psychiatrist does not want to take me off.
Avatar f tn I am a post bleed survivor. In November 2013 I suffered from a ruptured pica aneurysm. I underwent surgery where the aneurysm was clipped. I am 39 years old. Since the surgery, I am always tired, but I know that this is part of recovery. My question is, are the other symptoms normal. I have shooting pains in my head. Some days they are in the back of my head, some days they are the top of my head. There is no rhyme or reason. I feel dizzy often and my head feels very heavy.
