Aldara reactions

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara reactions

aldara

Avatar m tn Did you just put it on the spots or did you put it all over? Aldara can cause reactions like this, and therefore should only be used when you are certain its warts. You might need to get this checked by a doctor to rule out infection. If you hadn't applied aldara, I'd say get checked for herpes, but I doubt its herpes.
Avatar m tn As if HPV didnt make me feel crappy enough, lol. Has anyone had any similar experience with aldara on the butthole, or anywhere? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Redness Swelling A sore, blister, or ulcer Skin that becomes hard or thickened Skin peeling Scabbing and crusting Pain Tenderness Itching Burning Most of these skin reactions are mild to moderate and they disappear when treatment is completed. They may be signs that the product is working. If your skin reacts badly or the skin reaction becomes too uncomfortable when using Aldara cream, wash the cream off with mild soap and water and contact your doctor.
Avatar n tn While the results of these studies are promising, only a few patients have been studied and the quality of evidence is weak. Common side effects to Aldara involve skin reactions in the area where it was applied. These include redness, swelling, blisters or ulcers, skin thickening, peeling, scabbing and crusting, itching, burning, and discoloration.
Avatar m tn The doc froze them off then he prescribed Aldara cream. He said that I should put the cream right on the spots that he froze. He said that I did not need to wait for those spots to heal and that I could start using Aldara right away. Is this ok?? Also, I am not quite sure if I have other warts on the shaft of my penis. There are a few other very small bumps that I am not sure of. It is ok to rub the Aldara over these spots even if they turn out not to be warts?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any bad reactions to using Aldara cream for warts? I'm into my second week to using the cream, and I the pain is getting so bad. It's burns, stings, itches, it's red and swollen, hurts when I go to the bathroom, etc. It feels best when I lay flat and place an ice pak over my shorts. Dr said it's normal, and that's it's working, which I agree....it just HURTS. Also, I am wondering if anyone has tried any natural remedies or changed their diet to boost immune system....
Avatar n tn I have had no problems with them and have had sex with my wife for years with no problems. Recently I read about a cream called Aldara for warts that said applying this cream 3 times a week could eliminate warts and that the sides effects were mild. I thought i would order it and try it, thinking it couldn't hurt if it wasn't a wart. I applied the cream as instructed every other day for about 2 weeks ( 6 or 7 applications).
Avatar n tn This is no question but rather a clarification. I have been using aldara for about a month and a half, and judgeing by the topics, several others need some guidence. I caught Molluscum contagium, maybe from the gym, maybe from sex who knows, who cares. I noticed some very small hybrid of pimples and warts in my gentital area. So of course, like most of you, I freaked. I am a healthy 21 year old male who has had a fairly modest sexual life (less than 10 partners, no one night stands).
Avatar f tn A week later i got cryotherapy to freeze some off and she gave me aldara cream to apply for the following week. that was last week. so i applied the cream to the small areas and for the first day it was fine but after the second day of applying i have been in so much pain, pain to pee, walk, sit, do anything. i have noticed also one area where the largest wart was (was only small) this area has gone totally white. I am writing to ask if this is normal.
Avatar f tn I went back to my gyno. She then told me it looked like Molluscsum Contagiosum and gave me Aldara cream to use. Well, I used it all over my genital area for 3 days. On the 3rd day - I developed 5 small ulcers. They didn't hurt. I went back to my gyno. This time (after the negative herpes test and no new partners) she told me it looked like herpes. She did a swab of an ulcer and it came back negative for herpes.
Avatar m tn I am in need of some help in figuring out if my reactions to this medication have been normal or not. After my doctor burned my warts off, he instructed me to use a cream for 3 days, then a powder for 3 days, and then Aldara 5% every other day for a few weeks. He instructed me not to masturbate/ have sex for the first 6 days after the burning procedure. Three or four days after the procedure, I had a weak moment and masturbated.
Avatar m tn I'm using aldara right now too, I am a female but my skin has started burning and bleeding too, I talked to my doctor and he said it's normal.
Avatar f tn I was given Aldara to clear up my genital warts. I had a severe allergic reaction including flu-like symptoms, swollen labia to the point they still touch with my legs spread, extreme pain when I move, even worse when I pee, and blisters on the inside of my labia (where the medication was not applied). My Dr. told me to stop the medication and I have, but the effects of the medication are lingering. So much that it is interfering with my daily life. I asked my Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn 1) Is there a chance that what i have is not a wart but something else due to my reactions to the aldara and the fact that the wart would get bigger the next day? 2) I am on holiday in a different country and cannot go see a doc now, so do you think i should go back to using the aldara cream? i have stopped using it for about a week and a half now 3) Ive had increased discharge since my symptoms have come up, so i was wondering does genital warts cause excess discharge?
Avatar n tn I do not use Aldara to treat the outbreaks as I suffer bad reactions from it. Instead, my doctor applies podophyllin (generally multiple applications) or burns the warts with a laser. QUESTION: Since most of the outbreaks occur on the shaft, my dermatologist suggested that I might want to consider circumscision to remove the infected skin and thus limit the outbreaks. My urologist didn't think it was a good idea.
598912 tn?1219552112 I have hpv,and i had a reoccurence of gw so m doc 0rescribed aldara. ******* hell hole in a packet. after only s couple days of using it, yesterday my vagina lips swoll up along with the middle portion too. i began to walk funny because it would hurt to bump them together. i was at work still and needed to home asap.
Avatar m tn I've had genital warts burnt off underneath the head of my penis, I've had reactions to the aldara cream but now those are pretty much under control. My concern now is that when I pull my foreskin back to clean myself, it ******* hurts. its like its swollen, somewhat-dry, and it hurts. I've heard horror stories of men having to be circumcized because of complications with the foreskin. Should I be putting on lotion? anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello, i'm a 24 year old female recently diagnosed with genital warts and i've had them burnt off twice within the month. The doctor recently prescribed/recommended I begin using ALDARA and i was wondering whether or not (in your opinion) the benefits outweight the risks of using the cream.
Avatar m tn To battle the warts I used Aldara however, one of the warts continues to come back. Whenever the wart re-appears, its size decreases but lately, I have seen some white, very small, flat, bubbly spots on the head of my penis which I think may be some other warts. Out desperation and frustration I've been looking into some alternative solutions like wartrol and viralfree however, I found nothing but mix reviews about these products.
Avatar n tn , even large quanitites of it. On the other hand, ulcerative reactions can occur with Aldara use. You may never know what caused these lesions but I sincerely doubt that they represent an STD of any sort.
Avatar f tn I saw a Nurse Practitioner who used to work for a dermatologist who said they were nothing and not to use the Aldara cream the pp gave me. Last week I went to PP again to make sure my infection went away and I asked THAT nurse and she said she thought they could be warts. I am sooooo freakin confused. So I called my ob/gyn that I used to go to before I lost my insurance. I spoke to the physician assistant and she said if I have the cream to use it. If they go away, then we know they were warts.
Avatar m tn I learned about the infection when 2 small warts appeared on my penis. I was prescribed Aldara to battle the warts however, I had some re-occurrences with one of them. When the wart re-appeared, it was smaller in size and I continued to use Aldara to clear it. Also, I’ve had plantar warts on my hands and feet since I was little.
Avatar f tn I've tried Tea Tree Oil Lemon Myrtle Oil Home Freezing Kits Gel Kits Wart Stick Apple Cider Vinegar Wart remover pads Aldara Vitamin A Cream Daily multivitamin with skin booster By now I am completely terrified to shave. I DON'T scratch any itch by fear it might spread.
Avatar m tn When you mention "Gileads therapeutic vaccine" did you mean its TollLike7 receptor agonist drug, that is currently in development or do they indeed also have a therapeutic vaccine in development? The TL agonist drug was tested in Woodchucks as presented in Orlando last year and showed very impressive Vl reductions of 3 to 4 logs. I would like to mention that an other TL7 agonist is already approved for skin conditions. Its name is Imiquimod and the brand name.
Avatar n tn I have tried -Doctor applied acids -Dozens of doctor freezings -many self freezings -Candida antigen injections -Duct tape for months -Aldara -50% salicyclic acid (self applied) The only thing that seems to be left is bleomycin which my doctor is unwilling to do. She said I could be left with a hole in my foot.

Avatar m tn I had a lot better luck with the Aldara when I first burned the warts off with salicylic acid. The Aldara wasn't helping as well before using the acid, especially in certain areas. Yes, it's a bit more pain but it helped me. You could also add Low Dose Naltrexone to your medication. It helps boost the immune system. In your case, I really don't think it would be enough of a benefit on it's own. I tried it with a lot of herbal immune boosters alone and I didn't get any results.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info frank, did you also use aldara on your genital warts? I have it now, and doctor told me to apply it twice a week for 16 weeks, i hope these genital warts would be gone soon, I have a question, if these warts are gone, is still there any chances to infect your new partner? I am new to all these, I hate that I trusted the wrong one before. I felt like dying inside having these sufferings.
